I am from the US, and i have been down the the RUclips British game show rabbit hole, it introduced me to Jimmy Carr and James Acaster both of them are outstanding comedians.
Jimmy Carr is a little bit forced at times but still very funny. Comedians such as Sean Locke, Ricky Jervais and Frankie Boyle are much more free flowing and satire. But yes all amazing comedians in their own right

Yup, all I'd add is that the numbers game is you have to get as close as you can with the numbers given in 30 and the other round is picking a total of 9 letters and again, you have 30 seconds to come up with the biggest word possible, kinda like scrabble

I love this show and it's always a good laugh as most of the guests are comedians. Plenty of good highlights videos to watch and react to. That's where you'll find Jimmy Carr, Sean Lock, and Jon Richardson. A Q&A panel show with comedians and TV personalities. Then 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown is where Rachel and Susie join the boys for a late-night parody of sorts to Countdown. Then go and watch Taskmaster. And anything with James Acaster. And anything with Richard Ayoade. Who played Moss on The IT Crowd. And watch the old Mighty Boosh. British TV is so much better

There are three rounds that repeat twice except for the last round, usually the game goes; letter round, letter round, number round, letter round, letter round, number round, countdown conundrum round.The letter round consist of one team picking 9 letters made up of consonants and vowels, the idea is to have the longest word in the round made up of those letters, the team with the longest legitimate word wins 7 points, if both teams for instance get a 7 letter word then they both get 7 points. If you can make a word using every letter on the board, you get 10 points.The number round is the same, sort of, they can choose an assortment of numbers, for example 1 large number, which is 10,25,50,100, and the rest small numbers 1-9. Then a button is pressed and they have to get to that total number if possible, 10 points for bang on, and I can't remember how many points you get for being the closest to the total number. The final round is the Countdown conundrum, which is a 9 letter world scrambled up, first team to buzz in with the right answer gets 10 points. The R.N.L.I. is a charity that runs the coastal Lifeboats in the UK. Royal National Lifeboat Institution. Diago Maradona was the Argentinian player who scored the winning goal against England in the 1986 world cup by hitting the ball into the net with his hand, seen on camera but apparently the ref thought it was a header.
Yeah Diego's 'hand of god', seen by everybody except the Ref, even people who wasnt watching seen it, same with the french footballer Thierry Henry in the World Cup against Ireland who stopped the ball going off the pitch with his hand and lead to a goal, again only it the Ref alone that didnt see it. Two Ref's that may have side bets on the match, controversial but match fixing happened a lot publicly.
It's quite ironic that the 'comedian' (and I use the term very loosely) who uttered that piece of social commentary happens to have attended Cambridge university. What a hypocrite.
With the number game, they have to reach the target number (like 666) by using the numbers, multiplying, adding, dividing etc displayed below it. Can only use each number once though. Closest who gets to the target number wins!
@After Work Reactions _"The money I embezelled from the R.N.L.I...."_ The R.N.L.I. is the _Royal National Lifeboat Institution_ (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Royal_National_Lifeboat_Institution). It's a Royal Charity here in the U.K. where people donate money to help run a fleet of lifesaving Lifeboats and their volunteer crew, to go out to sea in dangerous conditions, to save sailors etc who are in grave danger.
The joke after the seal joke is he won 'asshole of the year', but literally. And went to the world finals, defeated by Diego Maradonna (former soccer player), who bent over and set off the fire sprinklers.😅
If you think the maths bit is hard have a search for the proper countdown clip, I think it's called impossible countdown numbers round or something, it's insane how he gets the answer.

Richard Ayoade has written multiple books doing "serious" film commentary about ridiculous films. He even wrote an entire book about Gwyneth Paltrow's movie View from the Top, which is a woman's dream to become a stewardess. He is amazingly weird and funny and awkward, and when you catch him not playing the awkward character he has adopted as his persona he is still a funny guy.
It’s very tough for Americans to get this we have very subtle ironic/ sarcasm that is seeped in British history traditions and personality , I’ve yet to see any American get this humour and no doubt they never will fully understand, this is a cultural difference, I watch comedy from the US and have a similar problem, I know a lot of the best stuff goes over my head ,🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪👈🎅.

The joke about the RNLI is that British pubs often had or have Royal National Lifeboat Institute charity boat placed on the bar so when you are ordering a beer or even often pissed in my case you are tempted to give to Charity but more than often than not prefer the next pint.

Yeah Diego's 'hand of god', seen by everybody except the Ref, even people who wasnt watching seen it, same with the french footballer Thierry Henry in the World Cup against Ireland who stopped the ball going off the pitch with his hand and lead to a goal, again only it the Ref alone that didnt see it.
Two Ref's that may have side bets on the match, controversial but match fixing happened a lot publicly.
It's quite ironic that the 'comedian' (and I use the term very loosely) who uttered that piece of social commentary happens to have attended Cambridge university. What a hypocrite.

With the number game, they have to reach the target number (like 666) by using the numbers, multiplying, adding, dividing etc displayed below it. Can only use each number once though. Closest who gets to the target number wins!

The R.N.L.I. is the _Royal National Lifeboat Institution_ (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Royal_National_Lifeboat_Institution). It's a Royal Charity here in the U.K. where people donate money to help run a fleet of lifesaving Lifeboats and their volunteer crew, to go out to sea in dangerous conditions, to save sailors etc who are in grave danger.

There's a legitimate game called countdown which is taken very seriously by the contestants in the UK. There's another show where a bunch of comedians deal with current events called 8 out of ten counts. This show is the 8 out of ten cats guys playing countdown. It's hilarious!
The irony is the contestants dont take it serioulsy lol

Richard Ayoade has written multiple books doing "serious" film commentary about ridiculous films. He even wrote an entire book about Gwyneth Paltrow's movie View from the Top, which is a woman's dream to become a stewardess. He is amazingly weird and funny and awkward, and when you catch him not playing the awkward character he has adopted as his persona he is still a funny guy.
You should check out the bit Joe Wilkinson's poem. One of the best bits ever on that show.
If you like musical comedy, give Tim Minchin a watch, I'd recommend "Prejudice" or "inflatable You"...

It’s very tough for Americans to get this we have very subtle ironic/ sarcasm that is seeped in British history traditions and personality , I’ve yet to see any American get this humour and no doubt they never will fully understand, this is a cultural difference, I watch comedy from the US and have a similar problem, I know a lot of the best stuff goes over my head ,🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪👈🎅.
