Ohhhhhh, the good ol' days of racing......My dad, brother and myself would sneak out after Sunday school and hit Suffolk drag strip, Suffolk Virginia....one day when I was 14 he threw the 66 GTO keys to me and said, It's your turn, ran a 14.82 (still have the slip).....I had never had so many butterflies in my stomach and I still race to this day (67yo)....still get butterflies that leave at launch.....I often think back of the great times we had at the track with my dad.

I used to build lots of Gasser model cars when I was a kid in the 60s, now I would love to build a real one 😁. I remember my dad and my grandpa taking us to great lakes dragaway, in Wisconsin to see all this stuff. Also got to see Art Arfons back then, you never forget a jet-powered car

It's not downhill. We started at a dead stop at the sand trap, and coasted all the way thru the shut down, back to the starting line, and ended at the front gate, and were still going.

@@slit4659 In both my woork life and personal life I have built many show winning custom cars and restored many stock cars from a Muira to a Superbird. The custom cars, which I injoy doing the most, have been upside down loosing money pits but the boring restorations increased in value. I don't see motor sports in turms of money but injoyment. Point is people see value in stock.
