The AI could've used the ! blocks, but the AI in this game (and the original Panel de Pon) apparently didn't understand using the blocks as a comeback mechanic, so it might have done no good.
It wasn't for 8 year old me, when I beat Very Hard for the first time. It was a test of speed and skill, that ended in me sitting in shock for a good 10 minutes going "I beat it... I BEAT IT!!"

You're welcome for the memories. =) This isn't a video about my awesome skills, but rather a recording of my favorite thing to do in my favorite SNES game. It's not too difficult when the game slows down with so much on the screen =P
I beat it on hardest, and I'm glad to say it was epic and took at least 8 tries b4 actually doing. I was as fast as bowser but I saw you did some pretty epic combos. Good work.
I recently discovered Panel de Pon, which is the same game but with Japanese Anime characters. The sound plays better than he Tetris Attack ROM I have so I play Panel De Pon in stead of Tetris attack and I like the characters but I can't get used to the giggles that go with the Bowser theme... Nice to hear Bowser bellow once more :)
I remember that the first time I beat Bowser on hard, I beat him "accidentally". I just kept moving blocks and luckily getting chains, 8 I think. I was 12 I think, and it was one of my greatest achievements up to that point x)
Once you get good at spotting combos, and chains; especially ones that lead in to more, the game is not a pushover, though manageable without too much effort.
Yup. I think it was more around 16 seconds. And the bosses before him were in like 46 seconds and 26 seconds and all that. But it seems that is the only way I can win against them since I lack the skill. I can't plan ahead for chains or anything. Don't think my brain can process all that and plan ahead and be able to look all around and be able to know how blocks will drop ahead of time. I just recently started playing again. All I can ever do is the 4 block combo most, as anyone would.
This reminds me of my x12 versus x? Battle me and my sister had at 9 and 12 years old. We both looked at the screen like o_O when I had cleared my entire stack.... And the block just kept coming.
Panel de pon, tetris attack, Pokemon puzzle league, and all other puzzle games that have this format KICKS ASSS! IT FEELS SO GOOD TO PUT A FAT LAYER OF SHIT ON TO YOUR OPPONENT FOR MAKING MATCH'S :)
anyone understand the mechanic that is happening on player 1's side? he breaks the block thats above him, and only the bottom layer falls and the rest are recombining instead of falling. why?
It's because Bowser sent 1 giant "chain" block (x10), not a whole bunch of smaller combo blocks. Chain blocks are supposed to be worse/harder, but when the chain is large if you play the mechanics well you can send back an even BIGGER block
by "chain" block, do you mean because his combo was like the cascading combo (where its a small combo at the bottom, but that causes the others to fall into a combo, which causes the next row to fall into a combo and so on?) I had never noticed there were different behaviors for these combo types. neat.
@@mwatkins0590 find pokemon Puzzle league on n64 (and wii vc). It has the best tutorial mode for explaining chains, combos, active chains and how garbage behaves
@snifit0712 its unlikely you'll setup a huge combo on your own to screw him over, so when you hear him building a huge combo just have a 2-3x chain ready near your top and go off that to build a huge combo like I did to respond to it. Once you get a 10x+ combo on Bowser, the AI sucks and is basically screwed Just make sure you always have a few blocks left over. I can't count the number of times I've pulled off a 13x combo then ran out of moves when 10 blocks fall on me
I beat him after several tries on Super Hard mode there. In fact I beat all 4 of them after several tries, usually around 100 or something. But such hollow victories. Because it was just luck, the AI crapping out for some reason and I won on Bowser and the others within just 30 seconds as a result. I wish I could properly chain and win that way though instead of those luck wins where the AI just isn't up to par for some reason.
yeah, like aceir11 said, it's very easy to get high combos using enemy garbage. also, the AI doesn't deal with the garbage at all, regardless of its size. it just keeps doing combos and sooner or later one of the blocks touches it. and seeing how winning a game of tetris attack on average to high skill level only depends on your enemy doing a mistake, this is quite a handycap. you can't do more than send your enemy tons of garbage. only if he's unable to clear it, he loses.
on time i lost even though we both were way over the top all cuz he was making matches to stay alive and well when u play for a long time ur eyes make all the color blend in with each other lol ^^;
Oh, yes. I’ve done that multiple times over. From my experience, 6 or more ! blocks make for an ultra move. However, getting 8 or more ! blocks can only happen as a chain.
@@sssssnake222 Agreed. 8+ requires a chain. At least in USA versions of the game, any single move clearing 4+ is called a combo (number shows red), cascades (number shows green) are called chains, and combos can also happen as part of chains.

there was no way for bowser to recover...even the best AI the game had was like "WTF! THIS GUY REKT MEH"
Well the ! Blocks could've gave him a come back.

@TakaComics come here and back to the time
The block stops growing at x13. I believe it takes up the entire screen with no other blocks.
Thanks, Nick for your half explanation of a Mystery chain counterattack. 😛

I’d like to see people do a massive chain combo in a single player when there isn’t a block on top of you helping you along the way...😏

So much overkill! Who knew a Yoshi could be this strong?
Bowser did call Yoshi simple, and naive. Maybe Yoshi was making a point by beating Bowser so strongly?
Awesome. Brought back lot of memories
That's how I like to play as well. Sending the big blocks my way is the best way to make combos
0:51 You just signed your death warrant, Bowser buddy.
I'd say he still had a chance at 2:10. Once that was over, he was dead.

IMO it's very fun and easier than it looks. This was the final boss on the hardest difficulty
