The Transformers Timeline | Michael Bay Transformers Franchise Timeline Explained

  • The Michael Bay Transformers, or Bayformers timeline is a complicated series of films, and the addition of Bumblebee has called many aspects of it into question. When Bay launched the live-action Transformers franchise in 2007, it was already clear that the "robots in disguise" had been hiding on Earth longer than most humans were aware. As the story progressed in each succeeding film, the history of the Transformers on Earth also went further and further back, until it was revealed that the origins of the planets Earth and Cybertron were intertwined. The order of Michael Bay live-action movies are:
    Transformers (2007)
Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen (2009)
Transformers: Dark of the Moon (2011)
    Transformers: Age of Extinction (2014)
    Transformers: The Last Knight (2017)

The Allspark created Cybertron, the creators built the Transformers. Megatron participated in the Fallen's plan because he realized if Optimus was killed and the Fallen got the Matrix, they could use it to revive Sentinel themselves rather than having to trick Optimus. When the Fallen was killed, he resorted back to the original plan with Sentinel that we saw unfold in DotM. I know your comment is really old but whatever.

Typically in fiction, Lore exists to make things clear and thus help the audience keep in mind the reasons behind the conflict presented in that story.
Transformers' Lore, on the other hand, does the opposite: its sole purpose is to add new elements to the story without trying to resolve the plot's previous mysteries...

I like to imagine that Unicron destroyed the homeworld of the Quintessons and the few survivors formed a plot to get their revenge. Being unable to oppose him on their own, they had to rely on their technical skills to form an army of mechanical warriors. Without many resources to carry out the construction, an intelligent solution was required. It was designing technology that could effectively turn any organic life into metal, which would serve as the building material. This technology was the so-called Seeds. To produce large quantities, those Seeds had to be launched into different regions of the galaxy, where the material would later also have to be collected. Later on, the AllSpark was built from the same material and used to produce the first generation of soldiers - the original Primes.

You know, I knew 0 thing about Transformers when I watched the first movie. I will always see the first 3 movies as top animation of that time and I really liked learning their lore (though I understand these movies made it not like it should be). Then with the 4th movie I saw the problem of repeating the story arc, not bringing it forward really and after the fifth now looking back at this timeline. Both the timeline is messed up and unrealistic, plus, Unicron/Earth is like the biggest conicidental magnet for attracting basically every important Transformers-known objects.
I mean, what was the pitch for TF5 man, "oh I have a new chapter that is worthy in our saga, oh and I connected this thing from the past too" But how does that match up with the previous mentioned past in the 4 movies before? Oh lets use it and say it happened before everything else from the previous 4 movies. If TF6 ever comes it will say someone created the cube, therefore happening before all else......

I was watching transformers the last knight and as I was looking the horns I had this really cool idea for what could have been a part 2 for the movie. So as I watched the movie and got to the part where they mentioned about the glyphs on the knights round table and the meaning. I had this thought in my head for a good while.
What if the horns that we saw on earth wasn’t unicron? What if the horns when they are all brought together form up a portal and that’s where unicron would come out in his planet mode and from there he would transform and pretty much attack cybertron and earth?.
Think about it looking back at that table they didn’t know the meaning of the cybertronian glyphs so what if they misinterpreted the meaning behind them.
Having the Horns around earth as a prison for unicron wouldn’t be a bad idea cause that would eliminate the whole idea to where earth is unicron. If I’m gonna be honest having earth as unicron was not the greatest idea in my opinion. I would image if he transformed he would basically kill everyone and everything which would be kinda ridiculous.
Another idea I had as well has to do with cybertron itself. I’ve got 2 for this one.
So idea number 1 what if cybertron was primus?
That would really make things interesting as we would have one hell of a battle with the 2 planet sized transformers.
Idea number 2 and this one consists of a big giant plot twist.
What if this entire time the cybertron that showed up in the last knight wasn’t cybertron at all but was unicron the entire time and all that was needed was for earth to make contact with this foreign planet in order to bring this planet sized villain to life.
This one would be very interesting cause if you look back at dark of the moon cybertron gets sucked into a worm hole and we never see it again. And to top it all off cybertron looked different in the last knight which raised the question why does the structure and condition of this metal world appear so different from its previous iteration in dark of the moon?
There’s so many possibilities but I think the best one out of all of them is the idea of having the horns be like a dimensional door way for unicron to come through.
That would really make things really interesting for the live action movie.
    Any thoughts?

    • @juanleonor9349
      @juanleonor9349 4 года назад +3

Yeah the cliffhanger is the only thing that kinda irritates me. It honestly would be great if they could at least wrap up the bayverse. Don’t get me wrong I love the bayverse I will admit there were some parts the kinda made me cringe a little like how the movies had a little too much comedic relief. I feel like the movies should have had a more serious tone. Like if it had just one or 2 funny moments just timed at the right moments I would be good with that.
There were some other things that kinda drove me nuts in terms of visuals like how the cgi in the later films would have that very slight drop in frame rate which I thought was kinda odd cause we never see that in the first film. I guess since they had to rush the movie with Editing they never spent that much time fine tuning the digital effects. Also forgot to mention as I was watching the making of the second film they did mention that they had explore a little more with lighting on the digital character models and in most cases rebuild new ones to accommodate with the lighting and textures. Also can’t forget the new camera angels too.
Really interesting stuff when you think about it.
I’m also thinking that it could possibly be a quirk with the software they used. Which I’ve also seen those very same quirks in other movies that went crazy with cgi.
Unless those slight drops in frame rate we’re intentional and meant to make shots look a certain way which I guess is understandable.
Me personally I would like to see a smoother frame rate and consistency with the digital effects.
And if various characters had more screen time that definitely would have made things even more interesting.
Love the live action movies definitely wished they expanded a little more with the story as thing’s really would been very interesting if we saw a little more with the lore in this particular transformers universe.
Now here’s where things get kinda weird. There’s still talks here and there that they may do like one or 2 films but it’s not confirmed yet.
Maybe now would be the time for someone to step in and give more ideas as to what they can do to wrap up the bayverse like how we can finally get something going with Unicron. I would definitely step in cause I’ve got so many interesting ideas as to how things could go down with this particular character. If you think about it having that idea that this whole time we’ve been mislead into thinking earth is unicron but in actuality earth is just a doorway keeping him trapped in a dimensional prison.
Or this whole time the cybertron we’ve been seeing in the last knight is unicron and earth would be like the last thing he needs to either fully rebuild himself or the staff is like the only thing needed to awaken him as well as a spark from a suitable transformer. That being a prime or someone even greater.
And sometime later discovering that that the matrix is the only way to kill him.
That would honestly be an awesome nod the 1986 movie right there if the matrix was like his weakness in the live action movies.
That would be really crazy and very interesting if they did something like that.
Honestly would be an insane plot twist to have something like that in this particular universe .

    • @r3vah
      @r3vah 4 года назад +2

Juan Leonor Yeah at this point, I’m just assuming they couldn’t be bothered with and wanted the movies done. Some scenes in TF5 especially with the cars. It was just the same sound each time they were driving the cars and escaping. The movie is called Transformers and the most I saw was humans. Like how does some random girl from the UK able to control the Quintessa’s staff. It doesn’t make any sense and Cade also, a human was able to stop a knight from Cybertron being able to behead Optimus. Somehow the humans play the more important role than the Transformers themselves. They should’ve just stopped at TF3. Even Lockdown who was able to take down Primes because he’s a bounty hunter not able to kill 3 humans in the final battle. It’s so stupid as to how that works.

    • @juanleonor9349
      @juanleonor9349 4 года назад +2

Revah it’s funny how you mentioned they should have stopped at 3 cause I thought they were done when dark of the moon came out then suddenly 4 comes up then 5 right after.
Unless they decide to go with the newer movies being stand alone and setup more like what if type scenarios. I mean they could do that if they wanted to.
I’m thinking at some point they gotta show who the creators really are cause they definitely played a big role in both the lore and cartoons. And the creators being the Quintessons. I would definitely throw them in and have them be like the additional villain for the movies since they were always operating in the shadows back in the cartoons.
Maybe at some point there could be a scenario where things get really dicey with unicron and the autobots and remaining decepticons have no choice but to join forces with the quintessons to destroy unicron.
Which would be kinda ironic if you think about it cause they were the makers of transformers.
It would be interesting to see transformers who were originally trying to get away from the quintessons control just suddenly joining forces to take down a common foe. Of course In my scenario I’d have it setup to where they are like secondary villains but eventually come to common ground when they discover there’s a threat far worse than them. And have them temporarily join forces and have them go back to their original goal.
That would definitely make things very interesting for the live action films if they decide to pull off something like that.
Would also have the fallen and Nemisis prime return as well and of course give them larger roles in that particular storyline
      That’s just my idea

@@geenhaaien Why do you think TLK was better than AOE? TLK had tons of plot holes. Bumblebee getting his voice back absolutely made zero sense. The Decepticons were downgraded in terms of their strength (They got defeated by the Autobots too easily), the battle between Optimus and Megatron only lasted for a minimum of 10 seconds, I was expecting a rematch with Bee and Barricade but unfortunately that never happened, Optimus and Dinobots screentime was reduced by a lot compared to AOE, Bee's new ability to reassemble himself was completely random and unnecessary, aspect ratio was constantly shifting and that was very irritating, Optimus freezing in space was confusing because we saw him arrive to Earth along with the other Autobots in the 2007 film without freezing, Quintessa sucked as a villain, all we know is that she is supposedly the "Creator", which I highly doubt. In AOE, there is clearly more than one Creator headed towards Earth in the beginning of the film, even Lockdown told Optimus that his "Creators" want him back. The whole movie was totally a huge inconsistent, jumbled mess. TLK had so much potential and I even had high expectations for that movie. Massive letdown. AOE had plenty of entertaining action sequences (Drone ship chase, Optimus V. Galvatron, Optimus V. Lockdown, Bee V. Stinger, The Dinobots charging into battle, Hound V. KSI prototypes), Lockdown was such an intimidating villain and he had a much longer fight with Optimus unlike Megatron from TLK, Optimus literally had 25 minutes of screentime. That is why I personally think AOE was definitely better than TLK.

1:45-1:50 Too fill in the gap, Unicron and Primus have always been in conflict with one another, order and chaos, creation and destruction. It's said Primus was only able to defeat Unicron after he created the 13 Primes. Once defeated, Primus cast Unicron's body out and overtime his body had come to collect mass around itself until it formed and became the very core of the Earth.
Unicron's horns rising from the Earth are not an indication of him fighting "the mad goddess Quintessa", that is obviously a misconception and a deviation from the truth. It's likely just Bay trying to conceal Primus as an entity within the Transformers cinematic universe. Since that is the misconception, the truth is actually Unicron readying to face his old arch enemy Primus whom forms the core of Cybertron.
In terms of lore, this does come from the lore behind Transformers Prime, however I must say this lore is far more realistic and cannon towards Transformers as a whole, not just the cinematic universe. However, one truth is constant despite lore, Unicron is not a being that would willingly create anything.

    I'm a huge fan of Transformers and I've noticed a few mistakes/inconsistencies in this video;
    1) The films never explain what the Creators did with the Transformium. Lockdown did mention to Optimus that he had been built, but the overwhelming majority of Transformers are born on Cybertron.
    2) You say "Transformers" like it's interchangeable with "Cybertronian". The 12 Knights of Iacon are by no means the first Cybertronians, and I would doubt that they are the first transforming Cybertronians as well. The Primes predate them (they're literally called "The original Cybertronians created by the Allspark"), as does Quintessa herself. Considering that the Primes predate the Iacon Knights, it stands to reason that the Seekers do too, and the Seekers can transform (as shown by Jetfire in ROTF). So no, the Knights of Iacon are not the first Transformers - they are merely an elite guard tasked with protecting Quintessa before she went evil.
    3) "The Dynasty of Primes ruled Cybertron until they were betrayed by one of their own" I can only assume you mean the Fallen by that - and while they might have been the ruling class of Cybertron in their time, they weren't actually on Cybertron. They traveled from planet to planet, star system to star system, harvesting Energon using Star Harvesters. They employed scouts, or Seekers, to assist them in finding suitable star systems to harvest (their singular rule - never destroy a planet with life). Their betrayal shouldn't have been mentioned until the next timeline entry, which is when they were actually betrayed.
    4) "The Fallen, a Decepticon leader, arrives on earth and constructs the Star Harvester" wrong again, I'm afraid. By 17'000BC, the Primes as a whole were on Earth and ruled over the primitive humans here. I assume they were using Earth as a base while they scouted the nearby star systems for signs of life (they would have harvested those systems if they didn't find life) which would explain why they had a Harvester here already. They weren't planning to use it, merely keeping it nearby. They had teleport "bridging" abilities so I would assume that once they found a suitable star to harvest for Energon, they would collectively "bridge" the Harvester and themselves to a planet in that system. But no, the Fallen did not arrive here in 17'000BC and he did not construct that Harvester on his own as you imply. Also, the Fallen was THE Decepticon Leader, the one who started it all and Megatron's boss.
    5) Energon isn't quite a power source. It's a bit like the Cybertronian version of blood, water and food all in one. "Fuel" would be a better term for it
    6) "It was then that the Decepticon Soundwave spent a decade sabotaging NASA and the Soviet space agency to prevent any further missions the the Ark" Soundwave and Laserbeak may well have been involved but according to the douchebag boss of Carly Spencer in DOTM, it was actually his (douchebag's) father who did some creative accounting to make it way too expensive to return to the Moon.
7)"Nearly turned on the Star Harvester in Egypt" close, but not quite. They actually did power it up but, because the Harvester has a charging time, Optimus managed to disable the Harvester's firing controls and shut it down before they could begin extracting Energon from the Sun.
    8) "Sentinel Prime defects" technically he defected before the Ark left Cybertron, the Autobots didn't find out until they revived him.
    9) "Important government buildings now utilize Energon detectors against Transformers" they've been using them since ROTF, at least 5 years longer than you say. Optimus Prime's narration at the beginning of DOTM shows this, yet according to you, they only start using them after DOTM.
    10) It's clear that English isn't your first language but from what I can tell, you are fluent enough to be easily understandable in the vast majority of what you say. However, due to a combination of your accent and the words you use, I cannot understand what you say regarding Lockdown preparing Earth for Cybertron to destroy Earth. Nothing of the sort is mentioned in AOE anyway - Lockdown's only mission here is to find Optimus by any means necessary.
    11) "Galvatron transforms back into Megatron" not really, since Megatron's severed head from the end of DOTM manages to infect the Galvatron prototype in AOE. Different body but the same mind - Galvatron was always Megatron.
    12) "The Staff is recovered, but at the cost of Cybertron's remains colliding with Earth" Quintessa was going to collide Cybetron and Earth anyway, the Staff just happened to be recovered at about the same time.
    13) "...at the cost of Cybertron's remains colliding with Earth to begin draining power from it, devastating the planet and killing billions" the way this is phrased makes it sound like the collision of the 2 planets killed billions. I would estimate a death toll in the millions just from the collisions - it wasn't a quick impact like a meteor, it was a lot slower and more controlled. But you did get one thing right here - if Quintessa was allowed to siphon all of Unicron's power into Primus, Earth would have been irradiated almost instantly by the lack of magnetic fields protecting us from the Sun, which would have immediately killed every living thing on the entire planet. Yay, deathworld!
Sorry for the long post and sorry to shred your video to ribbons like this. I couldn't just sit here knowing other people could watch this video when it has so much misinformation in it, particularly when I know that it wasn't your intention.

@@maikbam2827 yes, some of my points are plotholes left by the directors. But each of the points I raised corrects a bit of misinformation (or an assumption) that MindQ gives in the video. Most of my points are based on information you see in the movies; only point 2 takes information from outside the movies (specifically, the lore given has come from the Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen Nintendo DS games)

Thats the best video I've ever seen regarding this topic. But i have a few questions though
1)how were the dinobots created exactly?
2)how did the quintessons create the 12 knights without the all spark?
3)where is the original location of cybertron?
4)when did the war of Cybertron happen?
    5) in which year did Archibald discover megatron?
6)how did the dinobots get from the arctic to china in AOE?
Maybe some answers are there in the movies but it'd be a great help if anyone can answer these🙇
