    Wow, so impressive and focused . Stanford will be lucky to have you. Seems like a good match- medically - you’ll love the warm weather for a change.

    Speaking to Mehmet specifically,
    My friends and I are running a similar initiative (started up this year) and think that you could help us out immensely. Would you mind hopping onto a call with us to discuss how you picked up so many students? It would help us make a larger impact.

      My internship at U of M was in-person. It started off virtual for 3 months due to COVID-19, and I prepared and presented a research poster at a conference. When I could go in-person, I went to the lab 2-4 times a week for the next 8 months, where I learned some general lab techniques.

    Hello, thanks for sharing your background. I am currently a sophomore in Highschool and coincidentally am trying to turn my high school’s club that I started into a non-profit so that I can expand it nationwide to many high schools in order to have many highschooler’s learn useful skills through meeting working with others in the club (I am trying to be broad intentionally with what I’m saying). I just am interested in what process did you personally go through to start a non-profit? How did you get the attention of news stations for your non-profit? Also, how did you build up interest in the service you were advertising in your non-profit related to tutoring to students in order to get new members?

    • @thecollegetreehouse
      @thecollegetreehouse  2 года назад +1

      Hello, starting a nonprofit from scratch is a very long and daunting process, and we'll probably have a video out on the entire process in the near future. To briefly touch on your questions, the process I went about to start the nonprofit was forming an idea and my initial plan, and then gathering some friends to join and starting up. We weren't officially a nonprofit until a couple months in, so don't make that a priority. Focus on providing your service to those who need it. As for news stations, they reached out to us, and we later established a department to handle PR. To build interest, we used a lot of social media platforms, and as I said earlier, I started with my inner circle of friends and moved outwards as we grew. Hope this helps!

    • @thecollegetreehouse
      @thecollegetreehouse  2 года назад

      Personally, I wouldn’t recommend the IB program because it’s too much work and all of the exams are in May of your senior year (after college decisions are out). I’d instead focus on taking available AP classes and balancing your junior and senior years.

      Personally I think IB is a horrible waste of time. I have had the privilege of taking both AP and IB classes at my school, and personally I valued the AP classes much more than those of the IB. IB classes go into unnecessary depths and take away SO much of your time, AP covers things that are actually relevant for college and it’s not as slow paced as the IB program with unecesary exams and assignments that are REQUIRED for your diploma. Unless you’re aiming to go to school internationally then I wouldn’t recommend IB.

      No, we only had regular US history. I took AP in 10th grade, but one of my friends self studied APUSH in 9th grade. So, if you want to get ahead there may be options to.

      You should definitely try to have some honors, either use strong wording to turn some of your extracurriculars into honors or spend the rest of your junior year working on them.
