Salads really help !! I each two a day w a sensible side ( lunch /dinner ). For breakfast I eat either plain Greek yogurt w toppings or 2 boiled eggs . Plus my 8 glasses of water . I stay full . If I deviate I’m always hungry !! But a cheap day here and there is normal . You can do it !!
Mary Lee .. Have you tried the 8/16 Intermittent Fasting method? I'm a 72 year old sedentary woman, but I managed to lose 56 pounds in a year's time this way. 10:30: I had coffee and a fruit smoothie that I grazed on all morning. At 12:30 sometimes a handful of something. 14:30: a huge vegetable salad (3 times bigger than this guy's) with olive oil and vinegar dressing with a small side dish of some kind of carb (rice, tortilla, bread, potatoes, pasta) for lunch, 16:30 maybe a handful of something and at 18:30 a piece of (vegan) meat and/or cheese with a large portion of cooked veggies and a shot glass of red wine for dinner. I ate a small square of very dark chocolate to top it off with. That was the stopping point. I only drank lemon water after that for the rest of the fasting period. I lost weight almost imperceptibly in ounces rather than in noticeable pounds. I weighed myself daily and averaged that weight out at the end of 7 days (religiously). Give it a try. It certainly worked for me. The only time I started to gain the weight back is when I went off of this schedule. Success. 🌹

Lorraine Davin I would either use a huge salad as a meal by itself (usually lunch) with some protein or I would incorporate salad/non-starchy veg with all of my meals. For example, for breakfast I’d have an omelette with a salad and a fruit instead of a bagel, or for dinner I’d have my bbq chicken with a big salad on the side, and either omit or reduce the my typical portion of rice. I mostly ate the same foods I did before, just in different proportions. The salads are great because they’re low in calories compared to other foods while still being nutritionally rich. I did other things to speed along the process like getting 10k steps a day, but the food was really the main driver of success.

Can you do a vegan Caesar salad I found a salad at Shaws supermarket the other day. It's delicious and oh-so-healthy. It's called the superfood salad and includes kale, blueberries, cranberries, walnuts, sunflower seeds onion and other power foods in a light vinaigrette dressing.
Looks delish. Just remember that although chickpeas and nutritional yeast have nutrients, they also have lots of calories too, so don't go overboard.:-)

I generally try not to snack. My thought is that if I’m hungry between meals and need to snack, I probably didn’t eat a big enough salad at my last meal. Or if it’s boredom snacking, I need to drink water or focus on something else. I do keep apple slices in lemon juice in the fridge and I have always have cut veggies and hummus in case I’m truly hungry between meals.

geoffrey..You are right, croutons & pasta have too many carbs...Excess carbs break down to Glucose in just 2 hours.. If you don't burn them up within that 2 hours it is stored as fat.. How about using spiralized zucchini instead of cucumbers..? spiralizd zucchini looks and taste like pasta noodles. :) I make a Thia salad: Spiralized Zucchini, and spinach.. Place in big bowell.. For the dressing: blend 1 garlic clove, splashes of BigTree coconut aminos (gives a soy flavor without the soy. soy is a hormonal disrupter) 1 heaping tbsp of raw almond butter, and 1/2 cup, 100% coconut milk. and just toss it all together. Plate and squeeze lime on the top.
Your Thai salad sounds great! I love cold peanut/almond noodles -- I'll probably add a little sriracha, too 🤩 I couple weeks ago I made a video for zoodles with avocado pesto. Super-tasty 🤤

I've never been a HUGE mayo, so I haven't experimented on alternatives. I've seen a few recipes using aquafaba (the liquid in a chickpea can) plus avocado oil.
I try to use these homemade dressings within 3-4 days of making them. I'll get ~3-4 servings from each dressing recipe, so I don't struggle to use it before I'd be worried about it going off. Theoretically it may keep fresh longer, but I don't have a way to measure for safety, so I err on the side of caution.
