    That's very interesting re. tapeball cricket. Even if you listen to tapeball cricketers like Khurram Chakwal or Taimoor Mirza, they essentially count runs or talk about scoring in terms of sixes hit. It makes sense since you are chasing totals of 80s and 100s in a 4-5 over game.
    But I also think there is this inability to translate that thinking into hardball, even if batters come from a tapeball background. The tuller or tapiya stigma perhaps.
    We do see that translation in our bowling, however. What makes Haris a great death bowler is that instinct of a tapeball bowler to somehow not concede boundaries and perhaps take wickets. Unlike Pakistani fast bowlers, let's say Shaibi Bhai, pace is a tool for Haris rather than, perhaps a spectacle haha. My point is that Aamir and Haris, both, are good examples of the smarts of tapeball that translate into T20 success. Haris maybe far more grounded in his identity and repertoire than aamir.

    As far as bowling is concerned our focus has always been on raw pace and reverse swing. We are not good at both anymore.
    Yorker is still good if you can bowl it like Starc. White ball cricket is more like tape ball cricket you have to disrupt the anticipation of batsman. Variety is the key. Haris rauf and even shaheen have become predictable. We need to develop bowlers who are unique and more suitable for this format.

    Most of our batsmen do not work on swing mechanics of power hitting. Poor hand speed, poor bat speed hence they are afraid to hit certain balls. Other teams are approach this very scientifically.

    Ahmer mentioned why Babar isnt doing anything when we always keep doing the same mistakes.
    In my view, the PCB is trying to have a captain who fits the image. Whether he has the required lesdership ability and imagination to be champion captain, is a different thing.
    Babar just fits the image of a captain... He hasnt inspired with his scores in tough situations, same goes with his imagination n tactics as captain.
    Shaheen lost a few games and PCB rushed to get Babar back. Its as docile n meek a decision, PCB could ever make.
    Infact, in a format like T20, you should have 2-3-4 ready captain material players in the squad

      Good point. At least during Rambo reign this was the exact logic. I think to add to your point along with image it's also that he is most popular player and hence must be captain.

    Bottom line is level of skill and its execution and the quality of opposition. Babar can wish to bat freely against big teams like he did in that 75 against Ireland.

      Look at him beofre 2019 WC and look how he attacked steyn in a test fact is that kohli walked into a team with the likes of sachin, sehwag, gambhir pathan brothers yuvraaj and dhoni very 34:55 attacking batsman hence kohli had licence to be attacking mindset from his early days. Whereas babar walked into a team with younis and hafeez who were retiring and pakistan best batsman hafeez and malik maybe the most mediocre batsman hence babar naturally had to bat with a defensive approach then they made him captain so they can brand him pak should make rizwan captain and allow babar to bat naturally

      @@user-ne3sy8cc7d Babar is great by Pakistani standards. He is a classic batsman never was a power hitter and has never been great against quality spinners. But he is the best we got. And I do agree that he is a victim of the circumstances in which he usually bats. But that is true for all previous Pak greats. Can't blame others for slowness when he opens and eats up many overs. My point is modern power hitting requires fitness, bat-speed, Hand-speed swing mechanics and an attacking mindset which you have to work on and develop over the period of time. He has given himself and Rizwan the role of an anchor. Risk less innings with low strike rate. This type of strategy won't work anymore as other teams have successfully adopted modern ball striking techniques. This is the sole reason we are struggling to beat second string teams. All Indian batters bat the same way sometimes look like clones. They have way more shots, and are physically more fit, have better power hitting skills.
      Our batters have limited shot range, one who can hit big can't play short stuff or might have a handicap on one side of the field. Those who can play proper cricketing shots play way too many dots or can't hit power sixes at will. It's all because we pick raw players never develop them over the period of time there is no pathway for developing a well rounded batsman/ or a bowler.
      The focus is not on player development, we are always looking for short cuts, by blooding in a player after one or two flash in the pan sort of performances. There is no continuity of plans.

    Babar was not very fluent in PSL. If you take out pindi and that 100 his strike rate was closer to his usual 130. Plus his strike rate in playoff games was closer to 100.

      Yeah and if you start doing that for every player theyll all end up averaging 20 at a strike rate of 115 as well

      @@MrWall-qh1gr true but when you make a statement like he was playing fluently you have to dig a little deeper. When you do that you see that his strike rate was the slowest amongst all the top order batters in the tournament barring Rizwan.

      @AyeshaRabab 3 месяца назад

      His strike rate was around 160 before the 100. It was high until Karachi and higher than Fakhar, Rizwan, Shadab. Was very close to Saim's for most of the tournament

      @Sohaib19874 3 месяца назад

      @@AyeshaRabab I don't think it was ever as high as 160 because he played that 45 ball 60 innings at the start of the tournament which was criticized here. Being higher than Rizwan is not that difficult since he plays at 125. Being higher than shadab is a deceptive stat because you have to sacrifice your wicket playing lower down the order which pegs your strike rate down. But yes he has shown improvement but his mental block when it comes to play offs is concerning
