Books are my main problem, but I buy a bit of everything. When I stop buying one thing I start buying another 😐. I'm trying to do a low buy now but didn't do the best this month. I'm not going to give up though I'm going to keep trying to reduce my consumption.
At 73 and a widow, I keep track of every penny even tho I have a lot of money. It keeps me on track knowing where my expenditures are going. I was taught to be frugal to the point my sister calls me cheapskate but it allows me to be generous to others in need. A budget is a must as well.
I have found that the more I earn, the less I spend. I can now afford the things I was desperate for when I was younger, but couldn't care less about them now. Having enough money to have some freedom and to be able to help others is what makes me happy.
@@WilliamJones-hc7ff nice to know I’m not alone in my thinking and planning with so much consumerism and need to have plus debt. I live a contented peaceful life because of mindfulness. I bet you do too.
I noticed you had a vase of lilys in your home and that you have a cat so I wanted to kindly let you know that lilys are extremely toxic to cats and your cat could potentially die from briefly chewing on a stem or even just brushing against them and getting pollen on him/her and then licking it off. I know not all cats chew on things but since my cat chewed a lily stem and almost died and had a $5000usd vet bill I like to warn people as I never knew and never thought it would happen and would greatly have benefited from a warning. Thank you for this lovely video I really appreciate your mindful and reasonable approach to this subject. Best wishes!
Free (little) libraries are my go to for a little shopping dopamine. It's like a treasure hunt, you never know what you will find, your new favorite book could be a book you have never heard of before and therefor wouldn't have ordered ... and it keeps my home library clutter free because I always take some books with me when I visit.
At age 49 I realize all the crap I have collected over the years is weighing me down. I started getting rid of things two weeks ago and as it is a slow process I do feel lighter and better lately.

We are retired, decluttered five years ago when moving into retiremetn community. Most went to group homes in area. I declutter twice a year. Kitchen is worse room for clutter.
My top strategy to buy less is to stay out of the stores and if I have to go, always have a list and stick to it. By the way I just wanted to say that I really enjoy your videos, they are so relaxing.
Shopping on line is a hidden evil that can consume anyone !!! I stopped doing it because many times items were not as shown on screen, in looks and quality, I couldn’t get to return them on time and I was ending up donating them … I could see that I was throwing money away for no good reason !! I like to physically go shopping when I can, see and touch something I like to buy, or even not buy anything at all, just enjoy window shopping have a good cup of coffee with a friend and come home to enjoy the day without regretting splurging on things that I don’t really need …
Being retired I have the time to enjoy my hobbies of knitting, quilting and cross stitch. My goal this year is no purchases at all in those three categories. My dopamine is finishing an angel quilt for the hospital or a hat for an underprivileged child.
I am really happy to have foud your channel! I started jotting down every purchase last year in October, because I had the dad feeling to not know where our money went. In December I started decluttering and found so many things we already had, that I started a no-buy list next to a shopping list, so we can use up what we have until we get new things. I am such a stationery victim. Whenever I watch a stationery haul, I feel tempted to get all the shiny pens and notebooks. I am acgtually learning to watch other people show or buy nice things and tell myself: I have about the same, so I do not need that particular one. I put stationery on my no-buy list, like some category of clothing items (T-Shirts for Husband and me, socks for both of us). Digging through my part of the wardrobe while decluttering, I found clothes I had not worn for a year or so. These I donated or recyclet and made a mental note to not buy this particular items again (like, turtleneck sweaters which make me look shorter than I already am - and much fatter). What I love to do now is "shop my home" before we get something new, and use what we already have. It puts so much more value in the things we own. And it really safes us a lot of money.
I appreciate this video, I am moving in that direction majorly as I was a slave to consumerism and buy buy buy it was never enough a huge distraction and coping mechanism for me dealing with severe ptsd and depression. Now releasing all the "stuff" I see how bad it really was, thanking the Lord Jesus for helping me❤ each day progress
Yes! Slave to consumerism! I was shopping the other day all day and I suddenly thought I miss my dogs - what am I doing?? I need to spend more time where it counts. I’m gonna try to really try to and this video and comments encourages me!
It's been a few months that I've been practicing buying only what I truly need and buying certain things that I need more of, such as toilet paper, wgdn on sale, and in advance. This has made me spend less time and money on groceries or other items. I'd like the feeling of freedom it brings 😊
So happy i found your channel. I am doing no buy 2025 and repurpose things .I have declutter, donating alot of things . Last may a had horrific equstarain accident that left me in a truma ward not knowing whether i would live , die or walk .Well i did walk out and it changes you .When your lying there thinking about life your not thinking about your stuff !!! I was always working, coaching as a professional equestrian and i have walked away and my life is very different now . The joy I see in everything is Amazing. You are not promised tomorrow 🙏
I am so grateful I found your channel. Shopping brings me so much joy. My home is extremely cluttered inside that I have plastic bins on my patio and in every room in my 3 bedroom house. You have a realistic approach to minimalism that I can follow.
This is such a helpful video thank you. I am doing a low buy 2025 and whilst lots of these ideas floated around my mind, your video is much more concise and so calming to listen to as well! Thank you for your time 💜💜
I am glad that YT recommended your channel. I'm on a Low Buy journey for the year trying to curb my spending habits and use up the things I have or use them more...I find your advice very sound and I appreciate the lack of judgement in your videos. Thank you for sharing your expertise and look forward to future content from you.
@livelikeliz will do!!! So far so good but it's only been two weeks lol... But pretty proud so far as I was able to go through my birthday without shopping beyond groceries...
Thank ou Liz, just found your gorgeous channel! Resonating with your vibration as I continue to transition to a simple life, natural biorhythms of nature and my horses, letting go, remembering and embodying the sacred in the "mundane". Much gratitude, blessings and love 🥰
I found your channel last December and it's been the greatest end of the year gift! I love everything: your voice, the beautiful and peaceful videos, your way of living, your wise words... Thank you so much for all the beauty and calm you bring into my life ❤
Just found your channel and I absolutely love it. I’m doing a no/low spend January and realizing one does not need to be spending money weekly on things one doesn’t need. I’m hoping to continue this throughout this year. Looking forward to more of your videos. Thank you
Welcome to my channel - so happy to see you here! ❤️ Low spend January is such a great challenge - please let me know how it went when January is over 😊 Are you considering turning this into a long-term lifestyle?
I found your channel after setting my New Year goals to save money, declutter my life and be more conscious and sustainable when it comes to spending. Your channel is a gift to me. Thank you so much. Xx ❤
this is relaxing and inspiring. its good to check on expenses monthly, as for me I do a record of my expenses that way I know where my money is going. thanks for sharing🎉
I have tried and done this before, but I think alot has to do with stress. So I want to thank you again for this! I am going to try, no do this and this 🙏🤞time I am going to do it and no buying more because I have the "extra space" I know all the extra stuff everywhere does stress me out! So this is going to help me for my health Thank you again💜😊💜
Hi Liz just listening to your video and it’s been very entertaining as I was busy cleaning my kitchen I have 2 of everything in the way of oils herbs seasonings etc 😊 and some dried items out of date I’m taking a grip and not allowing this to happen again I done a massive declutter in 2024 so I am in control but still a few things to deal with the waste of consumerism over the years with me has been ridiculous but I’m being very mindful this year and only buying what I really need and I will be continuing to declutter and only keep a minimal quantity of things that I need the view of a tidy clean organised home is in sight and I can’t wait to have a easy to clean home and find something when I’m needing it instead of having to search a trillion places to get my hands on it thank you for your video
Hi, I came across your video last week and your lifestyle resonates to mine. I used to give away my stuff and clothes away to my friends and charity cause, still I like to do that but I started to put my unwanted stuff for sales online and it gives me good feeling that I see my items find new home. I persist not to buy anything unless I need it . Thank you for your beautiful calming videos 🙏🥰🙂
As always good advice, especially now after inflation has made our dollar worth so much less. i originally starting doing what I call my secret saving in my checking account to cover any over withdrawals I happen to incur. I stow away a little bit of my money going into my account each month. I don't account for it in my regular register 'but keep a separate record of it out of sight and out of mind. In this way I never overdraw my account and have a separate chunk of money for any emergencies. It may sound silly but it works for me.
That’s such a healthy way to look at it, even though I know it’s not an easy situation to be in. So many people fall into the trap of buying things they can’t afford and end up in serious debt. Wishing you all the best ❤️
I don't think I want to comment anything for this video, the big news here is that you are back! 😁 Was checking your channel often to see if you post anything and I thought that maybe you stopped because the whole youtube thing was too much for you and you couldn't find time for recording, editing etc. Welcome back, we missed you a lot. 😀 I hope everything is good with you and your life and I wish you all the best and even more for 2025! 😉🌻❤
Awww thank you so much - I'm so happy to be back! And yes, I really didn't find enough time for filming and editing regularly as there was so much going on this year. But I'm still here! So happy to see you - wish you all the best for 2025 as well! 😊✨🍀🌸

Superb content, want to see the cottage tour video of ur sweet cottage
Would love the recipe to whatever that soup is in the wooden bowl. Xo ❤
Being broke and having very little money works well for not being able to buy unnecessary stuff.

Just take it one step at a time, most of us struggle with this, you are not alone

What an amazing video - again 🥰
It's always so nice and calming to listen to you.
Can I ask you what kind of herbs you dry for your tea? And how do you dry your herbs? I always put mine on the heater but in the summer I obviously need a different solution :_)
Best wishes🥰
Thank you so much - so happy to have you here! 😊❤️ I love to dry peppermint, nettles or raspberry leaves, but there are so many others - it really depends on what I can find 😊 I usually dry them in the oven on low heat. If you have multiple herbs, they might need different times to dry, so maybe put them onto different trays so you can take them out at different times. 😊 All the best to you! ✨
I used to be minimalist and living slowly i even sold my smartphone for 2 years. I had the best years if my life ❤. But now i became a different person i spend a lot of money i saved because i don't have a job. I bought a new smartphone and i'm addicted to my screen time is +10h 😢
