It's matured while still having that guttural intensity but nowhere near the rawness of the old albums. Maybe that's a good thing his mental health was not the best back then.
I think it changed because of his old screaming (1999-2000) he wasn't doing a safe technique he was just yelling and adding distortion

I always really liked how Slipknot took the beginning riff, but made it heavier at the end. I always loved that in their songs. Prime exmaple: AOV.

Got privilege to see these guys in around 2008 in Minneapolis. I was chaperoning for my brother and his best friend. One of my favorite rock bands, not as much as pod but up there for sure.
When you listen to this, it's great. But once you know why the song was written, it hits you right in the heart.
The guitar tone of this album is probably my favorite of all time. Thats what the end of the world sounds like

Weirdly, this song is largely inspired by the time when some members of Slipknot had food poisoning and weren't allowed to board a plane due to uncontrollable diarrhea. Genuinely, it makes sense when you read much of the lyrics.

My Dad always nurtured my music taste, he took me and my friend to see them on the 14th of February 2002 at the Glasgow secc, it was my first gig and I will take the memories to the grave.

This band scared the hell out of me back in elementary but moms still got me all their albums cause I was so intrigued by it. The magic started to wither from Vol. 3 and I never bought anything from them again, but mfkr, crowz, self titled and Iowa were beyond anything I could imagine. Slipknot and Gorillaz (debut), I dare say they're my musical foundation.

Jesus Christ, I remember being in 8th grade and staying with a couple friends over a weekend and watching the video for this song on a VHS that my buddy had used to record it off of MTV2. Now that I think about it, I actually purchased their self titled album while on a field trip at the beginning of 8th grade year. 21 years I've been listening to Slipknot. Won't stop til I'm dead in the ground.
