Thanks to Tesla, Ford is offering the F-150 Lighting, Rivian is shipping their all-electric R1T, GM will offer a Hummer EV, and Chevy will offer a Silverado EV. Meanwhile, Tesla has pushed back shipping a production version of the Cyber Truck to the end of 2023.
The legacy automakers have had a 100 year head start on body design, instrumentation, mechanical engineering and paint. That's why they can redesign a model every 4 or 5 years whereas Tesla goes much longer between redesigns. No doubt investors paying over $1000/share have helped allow Tesla to grow and improve. Mind you GM had the very first electric car, the EV1. They just gave up on it for controversial reasons
Ford , Rivian, GM and Chevy all know that Tesla will eventually start shipping the Cyber Truck and when they do, it will have unbeatable practical charge range. That is why these other car companies have been ramping up their R&D and production. The Model 3 and Model Y have been top sellers and have had exceptional reliability, longevity, and sustained charge range after driving past 100k. In spite of their annoying build quality issues, these electric cars, from Tesla, have reliability and longevity. But I think mainstream Americans will prefer an all-electric Ford F-150 Lightning over the Cyber Truck but, the Cyber Truck is an ambitious effort by a CEO who thinks outside the box. I don't agree with Elon Musk's world view on the environment and fossil foils but, I'm impressed with his ability to innovate. He also posts some pretty conservative common-sense tweets every now and then.

When he told Bernie Sanders he didn't know he was still alive. Then there was the time he said nobody over 70 should be president. He's clearly a bit twisted in the head when it comes to non-business related thoughts. Sad considering the amazing journey he's taken Tesla on. You know as well as I do he's got no business obsessing about buying Twitter when he should be focusing on the quality of his products and staying ahead of the tidal wave of EV competition this year. The only reason he wants Twitter is because he has a problem with a certain political figure being censored in 2020.

@@calibreproductionss All companies say that, but they have no way to stop a drone unless they can shoot at it or jam the signal. Others have been flying drones over Tesla China which is even more risky. Flying over military bases and other government agencies would be the worst.
