  • We've been trimming trees to protect the château and also to keep the squirrels from getting into the attic. Karen's family came for a perfect-weather visit with lots of outdoor projects and shopping. Then we hosted our second major event - one night of a 5-night dance presentation. We can't wait for the Orangery work to be completed so we can expand our hosting capabilities. :)
    xoxo Karen & Bo

    Queen's Escape was inspired by the 4 years the Belgian royal family stayed at Château de La Tuilerie during WWII. In particular, it is for the Queen. The king took shelter at a different location in France. We've named each of our guest rooms after great Queens of the past and present from around the world. Margrethe, Eleanor, Catherine, Himiko, Cleopatra, and soon our bridal suite will be ready in honor of Queen Elizabeth II.
    With it's sprawling green meadows, 100-year-old trees, and historic location in the small medieval town of Gluges, the 200-year-old château is truly an escape. With 5 guest rooms to rent and a stunning Orangery, we look forward to welcoming you for a visit or to host your wedding or event.

    As an American, it blows my mind that you are bringing a property that was built over 800 years ago into another era. All the people, joys and sorrows, that have lived in this property. . . Amazing! Your renovations are beautiful, period aware, and contemporarily appropriate. I love what you’re doing!

      Hello Brenda, thank you very much for the compliments. Our chateau is only 200 years old, built in 1820. The orangery goes further back to the 15-1600s. Bo

    Please line the chimney of the Orangerie for safety reasons. A large French woodburning stove with sidedoor for refilling logs (to stop smoke escaping) is excellent. It will look gorgeous, warm, and very welcoming. What fun making all these plans.

    I see that your aunt planted lavender in the urns. I recently learned that lavender has to be pruned back once a year or else it will get ugly and untidy. Now I understand what happened to my lavender. I learnt this from Chateau Diaries. Please note. Jasmine

    Hope Bo s hand is healing. The Orangerie is a stunning building…can’t wait to see it all done. Don’t know where you get all the energy for cleaning…I m exhausted watching you. . Glad the event went well…I was disappointed cos I thought it was a dance party , with everyone taking to the floor with rock music…..but I m sure you ll have one of those😋

    Squirrels can get quite territorial. My sister had 'kicked some out' of her attic and they kept destroying window trims, trying to chew their way back in.

    Use vinegar white vinegar on the floor. It doesn’t harm in the floor and it gets all the stains out of the grout too with a scrubbing brush.

    Very wonderful program, the orangery will be a real asset, once you have it completed. Grab some solar lights! Don't forget. to start collecting some wood benches for the orangery. Great video!

    • @BoSAChristensen
      @BoSAChristensen 10 месяцев назад

      Yes, once completed in the future, the orangery will definitely be a special building. There are so many bumps on the way. This year we have been working with architects to file a complete dossier, as to apply for the various permissions required for the entire event business to take off. Everything is very expensive, so we have to do one step at the time. Once the required permissions are in place, we can start to think about how we are actually going to do all this. Bo
