If you are a serious Beatles fan, Now and Then really pulls at the heart strings. Wow what a song, what a beautiful farewell by the worlds greatest and most beloved band! Thank you for Now and Then!😘
Yes, I agree. I also really enjoyed listening to the RUclips sites that show the Now and Then song deconstructed, so you can hear all of the single elements that were blended together. John's vocals with nothing behind it, it's been extracted and enhanced, with new digitizing by Giles Martin and with the aid of Peter Jackson's new production equipment, that was used in the Get Back documentary - it's just amazing to listen to John Lennon's voice separated from the rest. The young Orchestra string players that were directed by Giles Martin and Paul McCartney, really sounds beautiful when you hear these strings in a separate extracted element; it sounds like parts of Eleanor Rigby or other past string arrangements that were employed behind some of the earlier Beatle songs of the mid-to-late 1960's. I'd also like to know if any others are aware of the tape deck they show the hand placing the original John Lennon tape into in these documentaries, about making the new Now and Then song. I don't know that anybody really pays attention to it, but I happen to own that same cassette recorder-player that I bought new in early 1975. It's known as a 3M Wollensack 4765, or 4766 model. [There were several other models that had similar numbers 4755, 4765, 4766, 4770, etc., as they kept improving it. It appeared as a beautiful professional studio-like soundboard, with attractive-looking lighted VU meters on top. The control knobs and levers, or flipped aluminum toggle sticks also look like professional sound equipment. I've kept it stored away for years but now I can't find it. You can actually Google search my description of it above with the brand name and model number, you'll see images of it come up. I believe they're indicating in the film that this is the same cassette recorder l-player that John Lennon must have used. [Although his in the film looks like a slightly older maybe a year or two older or a year or two newer than my model.] Thanks for any info of others may discover why they show this particular 3M Wollensack cassette recorder.
I'm glad they had footage of Paul, George & Ringo in 1995 for Now & Then & the doco is very informative & heartfelt & John's voice coming thru those speakers, so ethereal. This last song deserves many accolades coz of the myriad of time spent to finish it & now it's done it's been viewed & bought by millions. Long live The Beatles.❤️🎸
You put this video and the 12-minute documentary together, you have a killer great documentary, fabulous job on this, the best video made on the subject!!!
"I AND THE THREE OTHER FORMER BEATLES HAVE PLANS TO STAGE A REUNION CONCERT" Sadly, these words will be etched in my memory forever. We can be sure now that the reunion WOULD have happened, one day.
To hear John's Voice on Now and Then was emotional. Also George's acoustic and his passing as well pulls heart strings. ❤️ The Beatles still set the Bar.
How great would it be if we get an expanded edition of the Anthology albums and series in 2025? They can make like an extra chapter that highlights the recording of Real Love and Now and Then (and other stuff that was part of the bonus disc). Another chapter can be made that shows Beatles related stuff from the past 30 years since Anthology came out, like the LOVE show from Cirque de Soleil, The Beatles: Rock Band game and the Get Back series.
It's a tragedy that John died how and when he did. Really sad. The remaininng living Beatles turned lemons into lemonade in finishing those songs. Imagine all those songs we'll never hear that John would've written. R.I.P. Watch the documentary: 'The U.S v.s John Lennon'.
I have the 90’s era tv documentary Anthology on DVD, and I’ve always loved it. I can’t understand why it isn’t available to stream anywhere. I don’t know who has the rights to it, but please make it available for streaming. 🙏
The beautiful background story the Beatles Anthology is more interesting than expected: not many know or considered that the project was mainly created by footage and audio material donated by Beatles fans! Starting from the Quarrymen recording of the Fete concert, to the Love Me Do acetate with Pete Best found on George Martin's attic! What's weird of the "new songs" is that they were bootlegged long time before the Anthology. Real Love for example was the closing track of the documentary Imagine from 1989, and the demo appears in the soundtrack too.
There is a lot of indication that when the Beatles broke up, John and Paul didn't leave on the best of terms, so it's a pretty interesting story that John wrote Now and Then because of regret on how things ended up with Paul, and later Paul wanted to finish the song because of he felt the same
In the 70s they talked and visited each other, but not perform together though. Their story was not the easy one. They all had to forgive each other & go on. And in the end, it is glorious that they still loved each other after all these years and everything they went through
I born in Liverpool in 1967 I grew up on the Wirral I'll never forget the morning in December 1980 when the news broke of John Lennon's Murder it was school day I went to private boys school nr Chester and everyone was shocked including the teachers believe it or not. But what I didn't know is that John was coming home to to try and reform The Beatles, I knew he and Yoko had bought a home in Caldy on the Wirral and were planning to relocate there he'd had enough of being followed by the security forces in the US. Just think how good the new music would of been ??????
Absolutely since we have the technology... Start with the original cassette like Now and Then... Then get the recorded master of both Free as a Bird and Real Love separate all the tracks out and then put them back together I think both would sound great.
Dare I say this, but towards the end of the 60's I think that Paul McCartney became the group's strongest songwriter. However the John Lennon songs 'Across The Universe', 'Revolution' and 'Come Together' show strong songwriting ability.
btw the white piano was brought by George Michael and in secret with the rest of the world finding out until after his death is now at the Strawberry Field exhibition
THE BEATLES Story never really got an END!! there is always something new something we never knew always a fan digs up something or a old dusty tape comes back to Life there is always something NEW!! its called BACK TO THE FUTURE.....
I dont understand the criticism of the Anthology as being too subjective. The whole point was to finally hear it from the Beatles themselves, as they saw it
*Wouldn't this be the shiznit?* ''IF''.............George Harrison's son and John Lennon's son teamed up with Ringo and Paul for one world-wide-tour in 2024? 🤨

Even though they cut the bridge
Disagree entirely. Free as a bird and real love were far superior.

yes. His is better than the official one the Beatles did that was like 12 minutes long

The John demos were great ,,the Beatles just made them sound a bit better,, but his demos are just a s beautiful...

6:40. George, clean shaven and hair much shorter than it was in the Free As A Bird video, which suggests how long it took them to finally get back
I born in Liverpool in 1967 I grew up on the Wirral I'll never forget the morning in December 1980 when the news broke of John Lennon's Murder it was school day I went to private boys school nr Chester and everyone was shocked including the teachers believe it or not. Now would be a good time to revisit Free as a bird and real love using the AI technology like how it was done with Now and Then.

Great video and in depth knowledge. You have an excellent speaking voice too 👏🏻
Great job
Love the Beatles❤ Best Band Ever.✝️☮️
That was wonderful
Excellent loved this ❤
Very nice! Thank you for this!!❤
Exellent informanent documentary,thankyou.
great job wonderful 😊
John agreed to this just befo he dies,,and a reunion concert/show was v likely.........
Dare I say this, but towards the end of the 60's I think that Paul McCartney became the group's strongest songwriter. However the John Lennon songs 'Across The Universe', 'Revolution' and 'Come Together' show strong songwriting ability.
Martin said he didn't want to work with Lennons voice , not because of his going deaf.
Paul had more power as the leader of the band since 1967.
You should do one of these but you have to guess the next line of lyrics
btw the white piano was brought by George Michael and in secret with the rest of the world finding out until after his death is now at the Strawberry Field exhibition

I mean, it'd be nice, but it wouldn't be the same. But I feel it'd be a nice tribute.
Jeez. Not a comment about George's death except for words on the screen? :(
To think what the Beatles would have done if they lived on?
Hope All for Love exists...
Now and Then on Argyle soundtrack
Did you ask Pink Floyd for permission to include this song in this ad?
As far as I’m concerned there will be no Beatles reunion as long as John’s dead.

Not sure why you include George Harrison as a surviving Beatle in your thumbnail. He died over twenty years ago.
Or he said to himself, tomorrow may rain so i'll follow The Son.
Money man McCartney. If there’s way to exploit someone or something he will be the first in line..
Spoken like a truly envious person. You sound jealous.
Hater.
Disagree. McCartney does NOT need the money. What he NEEDS is for John to still be alive. 😢
"Now and then" is not even good" here and there".
James Paul McCartney died in car crash on September 11 1966 and was replaced by William (Billy). This is the truth no matter what!
really sucs......should have given to jeff lynne.....real sad this is it....last one with shitty art design on top of the lifeless disc
