Easiest way to do this is to stick a bottled water in the freezer for an hour or two, but the problem there is that it will often start turning to slush as soon as you pour it into the glass or even open it. Sticking an already filled glass into the freezer usually won't work, because of the way water freezes when it has a large surface area exposed to the air.

Put a plastic cup of water in the freezer, say...40 minutes for 1 cup of water. It's gotta be super cool. Then, try to knock the cup around and disturb the surface tension of the water. At the right temperature, it will flash freeze into crystals right before your eyes.
It’s allegedly sodium acetate which is made from boiling water, vinegar and baking soda. Once it’s cooked after boiling it freezes everything you put in it
