- A pack of African Wild dogs, also known as Cape Hunting Dogs or Painted Wolves, attack a male Leopard that had killed one of their puppies.
The dogs had returned to the den from a successful hunt to find that while they had been away, a male Leopard had caught and killed one of their 6 puppies. The Alpha female who had been with the puppies at the time must have chased the Leopard into a tree where it thought it was safe. The Leopard did not think that the rest of the pack would return and he soon found himself trapped in a tree right in the middle of the den.
He tried to escape but the dogs caught him and viciously attacked and harassed him for over an hour. Badly wounded, the Leopard managed to make it through repeated attacks from the pack and finally made it to a thicket where he was safe. He carefully picked his moment and managed to run off while the dogs were not looking.
He was very lucky to survive and live to hunt another day.
Unfortunately, the pack had lost one of its puppies and due to the disturbance had to move their den to a new location.

Yeah, I don't understand why it didn't stay in the tree until the dogs left. That was amazing but so heartbreaking :(
I totally agree... the dogs would have had to go hunting at some stage and he would then only have had to deal with the baby sitter that is usually left behind... well I guess he learned a valuable lesson... don't mess with the pack :)
@@Wild4safaris Also, I can't believe I'm just now coming across your channel!!! Definitely subscribed ✌️🦋☺️
What's heartbreaking? If the Leopards hunt a highly vulnerable wild dog or a cheetah , you guys don't feel pity. But you feel pity for a numerously available leopard?
Leopards aren't a threatened species unlike the African wild dog or a cheetah. There are so many leopards across the world. And they kill everything. From stray dogs, cats, domestic cattle, gorillas, chimpanzees, monkeys, highly vulnerable and beautiful cheetahs, hyenas, lion and tiger cubs apart from their natural herbivore preys in the jungle. Bloody bastards are like pests.
@@ishraquewajed4048 To see ANY animal die like that, IS heartbreaking. I would have felt the same if it had been a painted dog being attacked and eaten by a cat or a Hyena. Heck, I even LOVE Hyena's and THEY get a bad wrap. Animals are going to attack and sometimes eat other animals. It's just the way it is. It's nature and the circle of Life. But that doesn't mean it isn't heartbreaking for some of us. How is my heart breaking over this affecting YOU? I love and respect all wildlife. Okay, I don't care for frogs, but I wouldn't harm one. Just stay away from them. Go find someone else to troll.
Wow! Wow! Wow! What an incredible sighting/story brought to the world in a spectacular video. Deserves millions of views. Thanks for sharing, Stu.
Wow! Great videography and editing Stu.
Thanks Leon.. was an epic one ...
The leopard must have eaten one of the puppies and the adults were PISSED.
That was Epic, Im keeping my fingers crossed. Maybe another epic safari coming up in July.

@@Wild4safaris Can you a video about one of Africa’s iconic animals the bush elephants?
@@deshaunbethea5254 Thanks so much for your comment Deshaun.. it is a great topic indeed and will put it on my list :) thanks again!
@@Wild4safaris You’re welcome! 😇 Also can you do Uganda with mountain gorillas in the Bwindi impenetrable forest (Like you did in Rwanda back in 2015) as well as Africa’s other iconic apes the chimpanzees of Kyambura gorge, Kibale and Budongo forest and Ngamba island?
the leopard should have stayed in the tree no idea why he jumped down. that leopard was certainly capable of killing a few wild dogs it was much larger then the dogs
Thanks so much for your comment - One on one a Leopard would be able to kill a dog, but when in a pack, the dogs would win.. at one point I thought they were going to kill the Leopard, which has happened before in other cases... they are fast, agile and formidable when in a pack...
@@Wild4safaris yep the leopard had a few nasty injuries, this is similar to a male lion vs loads of hyenas they try to use their numbers to an advantage. the leopard shouldn't have jumped out the tree and also it was laying down it would have also outrun the dogs. i have seen leopards before drag kills up the tree super quick with lions in pursuit not sure if their was something wrong with this leopard
@@noretreat_nosurrender6892 Thanks again for your comment...You are right, Leopards are super quick over a very short distance and powerful for their size, but they are the slowest of all the big cats. The dogs would easily outrun a Leopard in a long sprint, they can reach speeds of over 70kph.. just as fast as a Greyhound.. Leopards only around 55kph... the Leopard was not a fully grown adult so he probably lacked some experience, otherwise he seemed perfectly healthy.
It good
Amazing!
is that unhealthy leopard ? Seems like its reaction not so fast n week
He can't match wild dogs
Los perros intentaban rasgarle el vientre al leopardo y por poco lo consiguen.
There is no way that is a male leopard, male leopards are much larger than that
Sick leopard
It's a healthy male leapard perhaps he's not experienced, wild dogs are dangerous they have a good team work@@Bhusayy-jd3ld
