tough day out there.
Hang in there 💪 You got this! ✌️
missed you by a day! sick video as always lucas
When are you hitting meadows
Lucas,
If you come to Steven's Pass it would be cool to show you around. The resort has a RV lot for overnight. Super easy spot for van life skiers.
I ski Monday - Friday.....
Yeeew!!!
I'm looking into buying a pair of the skis you used in this video. I am 5 foot 10, weigh 135 pounds and am an intermediate skier. What length would you recommend me getting since you know how these skis...well ski.
That’s the pacific north west for ya. I would like to say, when it’s good it’s good, but it has to be new. Our snow doesn’t stay good here for more than the day it falls generally. Hope you get some freshies on your trip north.
Good to have you in the neighborhood.
ah bummer - still a fun experience to try new skiing!
honestly super impressive of you to make such a terrible day look so good and fun! happy to see ya on my home turf!
thanks man! fun mountain you have
Looks like a great day out there. Been skiing in Oregon my whole life happy to see my favorite content creator out here
thanks anthony! stoked to be here
Firstly, LOVE the new Montec gear! Secondly, that Nose butter 3 was fantastic!!! Thirdly, Welcome to skiing in the PACNW! You are right, it is character-building. Can't wait to see that gps overlay in the racing this season! Wish it would've opened up a bit and allowed you to really capture the mountain in all it's glory but, you know, It can't always be bluebird and pow days. Thanks for bringing us along for another awesome adventure.
thanks justin. appreciate you taking the time to watch
"Viz is super low right now" Proceeds to throw a slick nose butter...
Lucas, that was insane bro! I was on edge of my seat during the tree ski. Hearing icy crunch and wind made it epic! I would’ve hit a tree and so glad you didn’t. Love your commitment to film and ski when most people stay in bed! Keep the stoke ….Lucas and Luna carry on.
thanks gabe! Appreciate the stoke and support!
Yup riding in the PNW is always a gamble. I spent 6 days at Crystal and 5 were waiting out a rain deluge. But I have also had some of my best pow days on Mt hood, before the rain came, that is lol Enjoy the adventure either way. And hope you make it to Mt Baker.
thanks michael. mt baker is on the list i think
Common ski apparel in the PNW is made by "Hefty". They come in a convenient 100 apparel tear-away box.
facts!
gotcha
Great video....I love bachelor butte.....Mt hood Meadows is great too...thank you for all your hard work and dedication....you bring me back to my youth and I really appreciate it.....be careful by that cliff....ski safe
thanks pat!
Great video! Love how you always make the most out of any conditions! Any ski day is a great day!! Excited to tune into this trip!!
thanks gavin!
Love all of your videos of course , have a blast on your travels 🤙🏼❄️
thanks man!
I'm from the Northwest and fog is normal. These temperatures and rain are not the norm. Tree skiing is the secret. Only skied Bachelor once. Think it is most famous for ice and wind. Thanks for the video and inspiration!
thanks cody!
This reminds me of how it is out here in New England. Wintry mix and low vis. Still a good day on the hill.
yeah just different conditions is all!
Cool though, thanks for sharing. Almost like a Strawberry at Snowbasin but wooded and good fall line. Nice work filming in the glaze.
thank you!
glad you could hit a place like this! I’ve been here quite a few times- my one recommendation for if you ever return here, do it in the spring, maybe late March. The top is way more reliably open and it’ll almost always be sunny.
Lucas, your breakfast is inspiring. Great video in tough conditions. Keep up the great work! You are crushing it!
thank you isaac! stoked you like the breakfast haha
Enjoyed the videography. You captured your day well under difficult conditions. There were two new wrinkles that I liked
1) The old growth forest with massive tree trunks 2) The follow cam with the Max. Nice work!
thanks brad!!
Those trees are HUGE! Also the pole cam was crazy through them. Looked like a legit follow cam.
Cool vid, way to make lemonade when mother nature gives you lemons. Nice MonTec teal/black, is that new, looking stoke. An all black pants would give additional look(useable with all). Welcome to skiing in the Pac NW.
thanks peter! yah its a new suit
sick video as always lucas! i love the new montec kit its so sick
thanks nate! glad you like it!
3:36 Wipe.
5:17 Wipe.
7:18 Wipe.
10:10 Wipe.
Those trees were HUUUGGGEEE-CHA! (A little CNY humor for you there...) The pole cam through them was crazy too. You were able to have it extended so far. Very unique angle for a tree run.
lots of wipes going on!
tough days just make the good ones that much better! ur the man lucas, keep going
yeah for sure dude
follow perspective starting a bit after 8min mark is great.
glad you like it
You certainly made the most of it, dude! Day 1 in the books 😤 excited to see what's next 🤙🏻
thanks bro!
Great video! I have a lot of your videos to catch up on cause I went a cruise and had no service. I like the new jacket!
Great Skiing Lucas! I’ve missed your videos the last few days. I always look forward to seeing where you are at. Conditions have kinda been like that the last couple of weeks up here in the PNW. Glad you are up here checking it out! Also have to shout out the sound of ice under creamy northwest snow. It’s unmistakeable 😂😂.
hahaha its great on top but a little scratchy underneath
Hey Lucas, awesome video. Love the videos with tree runs and the film technique you used 8:15-8:45. Would be cool to see more behind the scenes of life in the van - more scramby eggs, day to day stuff like how you deal with soaking wet gear.
You captured some truly gorgeous images amongst the trees! Thank you for another wonderful video!
I agree we're getting spoiled to the max Stoke
thanks for watching!
Lucas you are one skilled skier. You rip through the trees! Makes me a little nervous watching. But keep up the great work.
thanks david!
Dig the new fit homie! Cool seeing you shred the trees even in not optimal conditions. “Character building” is a great way to look at it. Stealing that on the next challenging weather day 👍
heck yeah man all apart of the journey
Awesome video man! That mph and altitude display at 14:10 is pretty awesome, it would be pretty cool to see it more in your videos! Keep up the awesome work, your videos always inspire me!
glad you like them dude!
Awesome video man. My favorite mountain. Watching you go at it was so fun to watch. Wish it was a little nicer but I know you’ll have to come back. Also if you go to Crystal Mountain soon do chair 6 and the king hike. You will not regret it. Keep at it👍🏻
thanks man! heading to crystal soon
The shots while you're holding the camera behind you are awesome! Keep up the great job, truly enjoying everything you put up.
thank you marty!
Bummer dude, just missed you! Was there early week and conditions were beautiful! The trees between Boomerang and downunder are super fun!
stoked to hear you had good conditions! seems like a fun place!
hope you get a feew bluebird days when youre skiing in washington the mountains there are absolutely gorgeous !
haha me too man
We are headed to silver mt in Idaho, 15 inches on top and 4 degrees tomorrow. No rain!
have fun!
Welcome to the PNW. The area is beautiful. Last night was wet fresh snow.
its so cool up here!
Sick video as always bro, stay safe out there!
appreciate that bro - will do!
Awesome skiing this is what skiing is all about 💪🙌
thanks ben!
your videos are amazing you put the right amount of montage bits in while having some commentary mixed in it makes it so enjoyable to watch 👏
glad you like them dan!
if you want to ski summit at Bachelor you have to hope for a bluebird day or go in spring.
Whew tough conditions dude. Especially after being spoiled at Deer Valley 😂😂😂. Looking forward to your Mt Hood video. I used to ski there when I was young. I have a lot of great memories of timberline lodge and st. Bernard’s running around. Hope it’s a better day for ya :)
thank you! meadows was fun!
Great video man, Can’t wait for the next one.
thanksbro!
Bummer the weather did not cooperate with your filming... :-(
Really like the "Overlay of speed, incline and lateral "G"s. Hopefully you'll have a great time skiing with Justin at Mt. Hood Meadows!
I'm going to send you a DM with details on areas you mentioned in WA state.
thanks morgan! just skiing solo though
i can relate... i had a great day skiing on friday but my time before that was pretty bad and actually the few times before that weren't the best.. it just made me appreciate the good time that much more.. also, learning my limits.. i can ski about 3 hours and i am done.. this last time there were a couple time that i had portions of the run to myself and i could have givin her but i didn't.. i think i was just enjoying it rather than pushing it.. the other thing is that i don't eat anything until i get done skiing.. it is just the way it works for me..
sweet!!
The new Montec is fresh! Always makes my day checking out your videos. Its always difficult skiing at a new mountain, but you make it look so smooth. You the man!
thanks mark. appreciate you bro!
If u were in a mood to watch some good skiing. This was the one. Tough conditions to be skiing in out in there. Killed it as usual.
thanks man. tough day out there
I just had a day of no visibility, you got some great shots!
nice!! haha
Just found this video and realized that I was there that day. It was insane and it took a lot of effort to make fun but you made that look easy
Great shot of Old Glory
yeww
My first time at Bachelor it rained like 4 inches that day. Only red chair was open. Still fun.
ah rad haha
dude, the music and cinematography are sick! I'm jelly?
thanks dude!
new suits look sick!
thanks chris!
try to get back for a sunny day. Northwest is an elite lift and the summit is just an amazing view
The snow level often rises up to 5,000 or 6,000 ft during the warmer part of the storm but its unusual to get rain at Mt Bachelor because its further inland/slightly colder and most of the mountain is 7,000 to 9,000 ft. The snow level often crashes down to 1,500 to 3,000 ft towards the end of the storm so even though there are quite a few good snow days. I prefer to visit Mt Bachelor in the spring because the odds of sunny day are much higher and the mountain has good views. Rain is more of a problem at the lower elevation ski areas like Snoqualamie Pass.
Dang man, just missed you. If your still in town, lets go tommorrow, (Monday). Free lift ticket for ya
have fun dude! got the ikon though ;)
Big change good luck 👍🏾😊
thank you!
Was at Bachelor the week after Xmas. Rough conditions. The first day was pretty much like this day. Rime ice everywhere. All the locals had scrapers for their goggles. I’m from the east and even the ice was a little much for me.
yeah sounds like it can be hit or miss haha
Nice fit!
appreciate it!
Good vid considering the conditions you had to deal with. It’s a shame because Mt. Bachelor is supposed to be a fun place. Bend, Oregon is supposed to be one of the best towns to live in.
Good luck with the trip.
bend was awesome! would love to spend more time up there
Imagine if you went to hoodoo that is my local ski resort it is small but awesome
was planning on it but ran outta time
I like the new Montec jacket!!
thanks carlo!
Rocking the new Montez sweet
thanks bon!
You made the most with what you had to work with! Nice Lucas!
thank you tony!
Although this did not turn out as good as you may have wanted it. As a viewer I appreciate your efforts in getting this video out and pushing content! Keep grinding!
thanks nathan. im trying
Sucks that you couldn’t experience Mt Bachelor and all it’s terrain! It’s such a sick mountain! Keep it up bro! Love how you keep the stoke up no matter what!
thanks josh! appreciate the continued support man
This video sums up many of my Bachelor tries. That frozen mist is just rude. You sure made the most of it. I would have been figuring out a be back voucher.
Ah man, I just missed ya! Gonna be there maybe Monday or Tuesday.
nice have fun dude
Like the new fit!
thank you!
Go to white pass in Washington, small mountain jem
it was on my list
Hoodoo was totally shutdown except for bunny hill that day. Wild you got runs!
Amazed you could keep your camera clean enough to shoot.
Man if you need somewhere to refit and relax while you’re in Bend hmu. Stoked your here and for you PNW trip!
thanks dude! appreciate the hospitality
Like the new gear
i appreciate that man
Total bummer on the conditions. I’ve had some of my best days ever out of anywhere when summit chair is open and the sky is clear. Still awesome vid tho!
thanks austin! was really hoping to get up to the summit!
Sorry you had a crap day. Bachelor is an insanly good mountain. I recomenend hitting it march/april. when the weather hits, it hits hard over there.
Loving the new suit
thanks owen!
nice new montec gear!
thanks harry!
Love the vids, and I think you should hit the east coast
he said he would at 100k
thank you!
👊 Ya Man. The shot from behind looks like a video game
yeah always a cool angle
That's what it is! I couldn't put my finger on it, but it sure looks like it!
Cool new jacket!
thanks!
Sometimes our weather just sucks here. Bachelor is usually pretty good on a normal year. This year is just not normal.
its all good. still a lot of fun!
Dakine makes a glove with ice scrapper built in. Only way to go.
oh that sounds cool!
Tough conditions, I think Bachelor has some of the best tree skiing on a powder day. Usually very cold in Oregon.
yah the trees were awesome!
Yo Lucas, I think I ordered the same Montec jacket as you. Dark Atlantic/ Black? 😂
i think so, yes
RED DOG & CLOUD CHASER is the zone when windy on the frontside
thank you
Gotta get a skigee for these type of low vis days. Helps clear the goggles.
yeah that woulda been nice
Man that sucks. Bachelor is my favorite. Weather there can be tough and NW Express is my favorite chair. The cinder cone is a cool run but not serviced by anything so it requires a hike.
gotcha - looks like a fun resort
If you find yourself at the end of HWY 542 remember 2 things. It always rains, and big lungs get big runs. Highly recommend finding a local to show you around. Or you'd probably think the ski area is too small and lame.
i dont even know what hwy 542 is man
@@LucasCatania17 not sure how far north you are headed. But Mt. Baker Ski Area is at the end of HWY 542. The road up there is monitored by the Washington department of transportation. You can pay for an overnight camp in the lot or find a pullout alongside the road. The ski area only takes up 1/3 of the available terrain and most people only touch a small portion of what they see.
What app do you use to track your stats? Love your videos. I live in the PNW and had completely different conditions when I went to Mt Bachelor. I hope you come back on a bluebird and can feel the dry snow next time! 16:09
Yayy breakfast feature
breakfast is back
Bachelor can get pretty wind blown, sorry you were there on one of those days. Looks like you skied some good lines though.
thanks richard! still fun
What is that app that you use at the end of the video that says your max speed, max altitude, and number of runs, etc.
Ski tracks
Make sure to hit Crystal while you are in that area! You will not be disappointed.
yah i will
Tough day but still ripped! Enjoy the journey to the North
thanks bro!
TWO new jackets?!🥵
yuhp
Character builder for sure!
haha yuhp
Come up to Mt baker!!
not on any passes :(
Do you remember wha ski wax you used that day?
I don’t ever wax my skis
I've heard it called rime.
for the "HUD" that shows your speed and latitude, is that 360 max in 360 mode still? Do you get that all from the GO pro app?
The data is all recorded on the gopro but you need to use another program to interpret it and add an overlay.
@@justinbayola which program? I have a 360 max
yeah the max is still in 360 mode. i render out the files from gopro player with the gps data embedded in it and then use a program called gopro telemetry overlay to add the overlay and data.
@@LucasCatania17 damn it's expensive though. Wish go pro would have their own thing
Got crazy inception vibes watching you watch RUclips while eating your breakfast… I do the same but watching you lol
haha wait till the next video!
