    Any dog that has a drive to do nose work can be a search and rescue dog. It’s amazing what dogs can do if the human engages their will to work.

    Cute fact: the white that grows around a dog’s face as they get older is called a “sugar face”

    I like how right after she complained about the saint Bernard stereotype the shifted to talking about the history with saint bernards.

    I wonder if Newfoundlands can be used as avalanche dogs. I know that they are used as water rescue dogs as well as being the "workhorses" to retrieve fishing vessels if required...

    How do you protect their paw pads if they're in the cold snow all day? Don't they get cold, especially the golden retrievers?

    • @kaylalamers950
      @kaylalamers950 Год назад +2

      I was thinking the same thing. The snow gets stuck I'm the hair. There is a product though that is like a cream that seals their feet and pads to protect from cold and salt. Mabey they use that. I would also thinking that they are not out there the whole day without breaks inside to warm up. I noticed the hair in their feet was longer to, though, and not trimmed up like we would normally do. Mabey, that helps.

      So for sled dogs they put Vaseline on their paws to insulate them and help prevent cuts from the ice, maybe something similar for these guys

    ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤all these beautiful and talented fur babies - they are the best!!!! But it would be kind to have them wear some warm clothing while the people are all bundled up in many warm layers 😢😢😢 !!!also when they are old l-heard 8 or 10 they should be retired … poor babies😢😢

    • @Darkstar22177
      @Darkstar22177 Год назад

      I've never seen a search and rescue dog with them. Also, it'd probably be harder for the dogs to dig through the snow with them on

    • @kaylalamers950

      There is a product like a cream that helps seal the pads to protect them. They also keep the hair on their feet longer and don't trim it to help protect. I would also suspect they would warm up throughout the day inside.

      Most domestic dogs were bred to do a job and they live for that job. Not just sitting on your couch.
