Yes. And to really appreciate it even more - if that's possible - watch him in "Downton Abbey" as Lady Mary's boyfriend, a British race car driver. He's an entirely different person. His Robert Evans was entirely real, by turns charming, vulnerable, obnoxious, broken - all the colors!
Absolutely. He's great in everything he does. Have you seen Burning Man? And in Brideshead Revisited, his character ages from beginning college to early middle age.
This series is incredibly well done, in every aspect. I recommend every chance I get. It would be interesting to see additional miniseries with these characters. Matthew Goode and Miles Teller deserve acting awards.
loved Juno's character and the relationship with Miles character in the film. The series truly lives up to the movie which says a great deal about how good it is
"Jaws", "Star Wars" and "The Godfather" were all notoriously difficult shoots with a myriad of problems and three of the greatest movies of all time, from young Lucas, Spielberg and Coppola. Just fascinating stuff
The Offer was one of the best shows. The performances were outstanding. Congratulations to everybody involved. One of my favorite movies. The Godfather!!!!!
Matthew Goode as Robert Evans should receive an acting award for this role together with Justin Chambers as Brando. Been a fan n follower of Mr. Goode❣️To Justin- glad you left Greys Anatomy n found this role 👏Just an astounding series ensemble !👍👍👍
I’ll tell you what, I wasn’t expecting much when I started this series and I was only familiar with two or three of the actors. But holy hell, the performances of everyone and the quality of the series is top notch. One of the best shows I’ve seen in a really long time and I hope they cover godfather, II and III Also, Matthew Goode steals the show. His portrayal of Bob Evans was incredible. Like others have mentioned it’s one of the best performances I’ve seen in ages. I absolutely fell in love with his acting in the first episode and I’m now going through his entire IMDb catalog to start watching everything he’s done.
Maybe the best limited series I've ever seen. Absolutely loved it, going to rewatch it again soon. Riveting. Uncanny performances throughout-- the Bob Evans here is astonishing, Coppola, Brando, etc. Anchored by 2 great leads. Surprisingly accurate for this type of show. Only negative? It seems like a one-and-done. Booooo. 10/10
The show is based entirely on Michael Tolkin's(who also implied he embellished the story) conversations with Al Ruddy. For example, Joe Gallo's death and Ali McGraw's affair with Steve McQueen didn't happen until after the movie was produced.
Man Jake got to see all ten episodes already. I'm only half way through. I love the anticipation of upcoming episodes. The cast is uncanny in bringing the characters to life. "Psst, guess what?... (Whisper) ...I smell an Emmy."
Dude. Everyone involved deserves to be up for awards for their performances. The look that Pacino gives Burn Gorman after shooting the restaurant scene gave me chills and Justin Chambers performance as Brando completely floored me. I couldn't believe that it was the dude from Grey's Anatomy pulling that off.
Can I just say Teller was just playing himself or just a person with 2 moods ..I wish there was more to his performance . The guys playing Evans, Brando, Pacino were really good
Since the Hollywood motion picture business is now dead... murdered, I am so glad that the ball is being picked up by, and I can't believe I'm saying this, television. I worked in different areas of the industry in the 80s and 90s, and though I was mostly in television, I would have preferred motion picture. Not today though. I just finished The Offer and was so sad to have watched to last episode last night. I liked The Offer more than I liked the The Godfather. Sacrilegious I know. Everyone of the actors were amazing. I didn't know that there was any new talent out there. Changed my mind on this one; they were all amazing. Since I have just one degree of separation from Bob Evans, I was stunned by Matthew Goode's performance.
Loved this series. Just finished watching it for the third time. Matthew Goode steals the show but the casting and chemistry across the board is so tight that everyone delivers so well that it just clicks. I'd love if Warner Bros. did a similar deep dive into the making of Superman ('78). Definitely enough drama behind the scenes to carry a miniseries.
Matthew Goode was fucking amazing in this show which is also amazing. emmy nomination worthy Edit: Burn Gorman (the actor that plays Charles) also was the next best thing after matthews performance
I was hoping that my uncle S.Neil Fujita was mentioned in "The Offer"....Uncle Neil designed the Godfather logo (letterhead and illustration of hand holding puppet strings for the book)...and later used for the film poster.....he delayed the NY premiere because he owned the copyright of the advertising artwork and Paramount had to pay him 4 hours before the premiere.....
For years the two most common "behind the scenes" rumors of the Godfather was that the studio wanted to fire Pacino and that Paramount didn't want to work with Brando. Of course as an outsider I didn't understand these claims but I was always interested in knowing if they were true. Fast forward to this series and I'm like a kid in a candy store finally seeing what really happened trying to get this movie made. Bravo to all who worked on getting this story out to all of us who love the movies!
I was a teen in the 70's and a voracious reader as well, Puzo's works were so readable...I read the Godfather in the early 70's, But, His other books like; Fools Die, The Family, Omerto, were just as good. I thought... The modern movie Get Shorty seems like an homage to Fools Die. The Offer series STAGGERED me...I found it only 2 days ago in a side bar on a pirate web site... It is a brilliant portrayal of the period and Miles Teller, just keeps getting better and better; Loved him in Whiplash but; He's a BEAST in this..He's growing into quite the actor!
I appreciate the limited time the interview had for each round of guests, but I WISH there were more questions asked. Specifically about how each person prepared for their role - what source material did they base their performances on etc. I did a deep dive into old interviews with Ruddy, Evans, Francis C etc. It’s truly incredible what these actors and department heads pulled off. And shout out to the show runners… what a tremendous series that I’ve already watched twice. Also, Matthew Goode got snubbed - he deserves an award. 🏆🏆🏆 The show has a 55% on Rotten Tomatoes but a 94% audience score. Everyone should go vote 5 stars if you love the show. Let’s show Paramount we want more of these stories told🙏
She's smart and insightful; the other two of you represent how disposable people are in this era of America. Red head dude one lesson. Just be a human, you dont have to be larger than life, you dont need to play a cartoon. She's going places I dint know about you.
Matthew Goode is such a charming, intense, good looking and talented actor that I am viewing all of what he did! I still prefer « Chasing Liberty »! He is a « 10 »!
Mathew Goode was phenomenal. The character that was miscast was Gianni Russo. Gianni was in his mid twenties while filming the Godfather, the actor who plays him looks 50.
The interviewer should not talk too much or interrupt the actors. Pose pertinent and engaging questions and allow the actors to share their experiences. All of the interviews came to a screeching halt. The cast is good, but the interviews are terrible. There's always room for improvement.
Why would the film LOSE any of its tension over the years? That makes no sense. Y'all live on tiktok and twitter and all you know is shortform media. I'm glad they've got young people to play these roles but young people sure are dumb re cinema.
I'm sure he's referring to the tension still being there when you've already seen it, and know what's coming, who's gonna die, etc. In that case, I agree, and I've seen it about 20 times.
Goode is excellent, especially the accent, but what's with the hair? Totally wrong, Evans had longer straighter hair - that was the easiest thing to get right...
Great fictional story. Just kind of insulting that now so many have passed and unable to tell what really occurred...Canadian Ruddy writes a story about himself being the catalyst for the greater American movie in modern times. When the Godfather came out no one ever heard of Ruddy.
I said so many...like Evans , Bluhd, Puzo , and Brando and it reduced the status and popularity of Puzo to a luck shot...made the 6 foot tall Coppola the height of Joe Pesci and twisted the story to make it look like Ruddy put together the whole thing instead of Evans. Read the fact from fiction articles on the series.

The actor himself said he wouldn't be shocked if Coppola never saw the series. Mathew Goode was spot on . The show was a hit to show the craziness of a bygone Hollywood era.
