As always, I love waking up to you guys on a wet Friday morning in the Netherlands! As an aside, I picked up a much loved book off my shelf you guys would love - Joe Richards wrote Princess New York in the 1950s about a 26ft Friendship sloop he bought in 1939, that was already then some 50yrs old. He sailed the areas you’re in and wrote so beautifully. Birds of a feather!

Ran Dayyyy correct me if I'm wrong but Capt. Q seems like he'd be alot of fun to go sailing with and definitely a wealth of knowledge and experience.. perhaps between yourself & Capt. Q you could share some stories about sailing together and apart.. I've always felt pulled towards water and boats. My dad had some impressive powerboats .. Capt. Q has me starting to look into a local sailing club in hopes of some learning and experience.. I live 20 miles from the mighty Mississippi River
Thank you for the look at the Tripp Block Island 40, another one of what I might call the “Famous Forties”. I credit you for starting the thread. First with the Owens 40 then through various iterations eventually ending up as the Hinckley 40 and now with the Block Island 40 leading to the Hinckley Bermuda 40.
I so enjoy these reviews! So much great info and you two gentlemen look like you’re having so much fun doing them. Really great stuff! BTW... Looks like a fender board there at the stern. Cheers,

Captain Q , sea dog and Ran-day, you guy`s have the best gig going., I`m guessing the wooden plank with floats is some kind of rescuing device to throw over board to mellow out sinking crewman? or it is so I can go skurfing behind the yacht when were ripping down wind and the captain at the helm. Lovely boat
Once again the Captain makes my week with another great boat tour. I wonder Captain Q if you could explain the advantage of a yawl design over a ketch rig? I have often wondered about that as we see so few modern yawls. Thanks again.
Good question! i must prepare a brief synopsis of my thoughts on this because i keep getting asked this and i have firm beliefs so bare with me and i will produce them for what they are worth asap thank you for asking
It's simple. A Yawl makes for a better backdrop for a photo of the Captain at the helm. With a Ketch, you've got that damned mast in the way of your photogenic Captain. 😎
By far the best looking piece on this boat was the new can of Dinty Moore. Hey, why wouldn't a stuffed dog and a half dozen cans of stew not make this pile of crap boat worth $88K?
The "fender board:" that you pointed to (what is this) are great. Secured to the boat, they allow the boat to be protected from rubbing against pilings when at dock. The one on this boat is particularly nice because the 2x4 was varnished. I have only one of the "rubbers", lost the other one. Do you know where I can buy one?
I need to get more keen! Which direction does the captain favor for his dismounts? Back on topic, that was a fender board indeed. And the product placement is getting interesting, in the head? The ice box was straight up, but I am concerned about the head; I hope there are no jokes about rapid passage from top to bottom there please.
Capt. Q who does your editing ? The intro with your logo 0:14 , pretty snazzy ! Would that happen to be your boat ? When do we get to see a tour of your boat ? Also like to see Ran-Day's too ! 8:20 - Fender board to protect against vertical piling. 10:54 - Does that fender have cancer - LOL ! 17:42 - Pretty soon Randay gonna get his own Yacht Hunter channel Capt. How long has it been sitting there? Not being picky by any means. I HAD a boat that was nice, not as pretty but, never salt water in the bilge, only fresh. Never did figure it out, so I basically gave it away.

boat shapes have changed like cars .With out a badge on them today you cant tell the difference between a Chevy and Mercedes and yacht design has gone much the same way. The new trend is to give a boat as much waterline ergo plumb bow to enable the greater speed and then carry the beam to the stern to afford more accommodations with the minimalist Scandinavian interiors and also requiring two steering wheels ..there is a lot more to this and I'm sure a working naval architect would defend the new look but we see little reason to because to us sailing is a world of beauty and these new boats do nothing but besmirch same ...strong letter to follow lol

What was that piece of wood behind the helm for?
Simply a fender board to be held between the Hull and a vertical driven piling where vertical bumpers won’t always work. Also handy in canal locks
