Not a big fan of R.I.D. and the Unicron Trilogy but still good stuff, Animated is really well-written after the 3 or 5 episodes(seriously a baby-witch with a unicorn???WTF) it have a really good story, and Prime AWESOME...except for the last "tv-movie-episode"with more plotholes then a Bay movie. And the High Moon videogames(BFC and FOC) AMAZING!!!

Funny thing. There is a lived script reading on a "what if" season 4 was made (Trial of Megatron) althought that script was done ages ago! Anyway I will semi spoiled that Ironhide pretty much joined Optimus team at the end of it!
I find it hilarious. Also, one of the performers involved were also a part of the Astroboy 2003 second Japanese opening which I just like because I love Astroboy and Transformers immensely.

This is the actual opening to Transformers Animated when it aired in Japan, done to appeal to the Japanese audience. The band's name is Jam Project, song name "Evo". You can tell because during Optimus' opening monologue, he refers to the Autobots as the Seibertrons, and the Decepticons as the Destrons, which is the Japanese names for both factions.
Actually That's the case *before* this cartoon (which was marketed in Japan as a Prequel to the 2007 film where they first used the Western names for the characters)

Transformers animated was a good show, don't understand why some people hate on it, and this intro is a lie the Japanese dub makes it more of a kid show then it really is.
Not to mention by the end of the intro, there's a giant Omega Spoiler behind Sentinel Prime in the ensemble of autobots. Since it didn't happen in the actual show, it sure as hell was a clever way to advertise The Cool Comic.

The reason they use convoy is apparently because Optimus Prime's name in Japanese is way too long to spell out. So they just give him other names. I heard that many years ago, and I'm not sure if it's really valid or not.

I think its kind of funny how the intro has Optimus telling kids to remember his name, since this was the first show in Japan to not call him Convoy. If any of you want a good look into just how different Japan treats the Transformers, I recommend reading Animated’s TFWiki page and scrolling down to the Japanese section. In this series you had an altered episode order, Bulhead was named Ironhide (the real Ironhide was named Armorhide), there were three minutes cut from every episode to make room for reoccurring live-action skits or toy tutorials, and of course this intro. They even skipped the early Constructicon episodes and the barnacles episode. Seriously, Japan’s dubs of these shows tend to be to radically different in tone and sometimes story. The Beast era shows were made into self-aware, lighthearted parodies that regularly relied on absurdism. Prime is also more humorous, with CGI shorts to advertise their own exclusive Microns toys and the Season 2 finale being reworked to be THE finale, completely disregarding the Beast stuff. RiD 2015 is barely treated as a sequel to Prime and has a LIVE PERFORMANCE from the voice actors at the end of every episode, with the first two seasons being considered different shows. The G1 cartoon continuity even went on longer than in the US, as they threw away The Rebirth in favor of making three different sequel series one after the other.
I never wanted to watch Animated because of it’s art style, I thought they made Optimus Prime in this look “ugly”, but when I heard of this intro, this made me watch it, and I take back everything bad I said of Tf Animated ans regret not watching it before

Yes this is OLD but I just saw it. I find it really funny the Japanese opening features a 4th tier character like Ironhide as if he's important to the show, heck Arcee is far more important and is barely in the show and never fights :P then the opening is pretty much for the whole of the series and notice Japanese specific openings for western action shows often feature fanfic like character mashups and battles that never come close to happening in the series proper.
Yeah, I know what you mean. It looks more to me like an intro to the 4th season or a movie rather than season 1-3. Too little focus on the main characters and too much screen time for characters that barely shows. Sure it's quite good but very misleading.
Isali Shade Reminds me of a clip I saw of the Japanese Opening of GI Joe A Real American hero, not an anime the old 80's cartoon. It used clips from the show but seemed overtly focused on the jet fighters from the cartoon rather than the human characters, from the majority of the footage being the jets one might think it was a show about the Air Force. Seems odd that they Japanese seem to lock on to some secondary or tertiary aspect of a western animated series when making an opening sequence. The fanfic like battle mash-ups also seem to be a trend in anime openings in general too, With characters who don't meet locked in battle, in locations that never saw fights or battling foes that only appear in the opening animation and no where else
James Cole Aye, exactly. It gives the whole series other expectations than should be. Perspectives and camera movements for example. In this it clearly states another way for the series to be shown rather than the actual series. About the matchup-fights... It feels like they just want action in the intro and don't mind whether or not these actually clashes. Same goes for the team-up-like revealing. Like they put - in this case - three characters together as though they are a team or close friends. Blurr, Sentinel and Jazz is one, Ratchet, Bee and Prowl is in another, and then Bulkhead, Arcee and Ironhide is the third, but Arcee knows none of them really. Logically they should've put Bee there instead of her. And Blurr doesn't work for or with Sentinel as far as the series shows. They all just happen to be Elite Guards. ... Gosh, looking at this over and over, analysing it makes me so sad they didn't go for the fourth season... Wish they would or will after Robots In Disguise.
I want to live in that alternate timeline where this is the opening for a separate hot-blooded robot action show, and not just an afterthought slapped on a dubbed TFA

I think it's the first time when characters had same names in Japan and USA. You know that before in Japan Autobots were called Cybertron warriors, decepticons were Destrons and Optimus prime had a name Convoy (some other names were also different)
It happened first in the 2007 movie (which the Japanese dub of Animated was supposed to be a prequel to, hence why Japanese Animated Bulkhead is named Ironhide, and Japanese Animated Ironhide is known as Armorhide)

Demonic Queen um you do realize the Japanese dubs for most of the transformers shows are almost entirely comedic with every character having a verbal tick and having completely different personalities. Example: in America blitzwing had a German accent and is insane while in Japan his accent is American and he acts like a stereotypical street thug and is rude

This obvious Japanese masterpiece looks like a perfect intro for season 4 that we never got but would kill to get. TFA season 4 looked like such a joyride: 1. Jazz and Ironhide join the main team as replacements for dead Prowl and Bulkhead, who joins Space Bridge engineers on Cybertron. 2. We would have an official animated Shattered Glass episode. 3. We would also get more Predacons with Blackarachnia and Waspinator back. 4. Also we could get official animated Devastator. TFA was in my opinion the most original Transformers series (not including Beast Era) since the 84 cartoon: 1. Optimus as a young unexperienced leader and him evolving into this awesome Matrix bearer badass we all know as awesome and it took balls. 2. Sari as the first official USEFUL "human" character. 3. Many new original characters that got so loved by fanbase that they transcended into other media such as Bulkhead (who then joined cast of Transformers Prime), Lockdown (who had role in IDW comic books and was the main villain in horrendous TF4 movie), Lugnut (whose named was changed to Clubber and gender changed to female as he joined the Cyberverse series). 4. More superhero stories that actually fit the universe. 5. New origin for classic characters that actually worked (like Soundwave, Blackarachnia and Dinobots)

Transformers animated was a good show, don't understand why some people hate on it, and this intro is a lie the Japanese dub makes it more of a kid show then it really is.
It just kills me inside each time I watch this intro. It's something that will never happen.
Not to mention by the end of the intro, there's a giant Omega Spoiler behind Sentinel Prime in the ensemble of autobots. Since it didn't happen in the actual show, it sure as hell was a clever way to advertise The Cool Comic.

The reason they use convoy is apparently because Optimus Prime's name in Japanese is way too long to spell out. So they just give him other names. I heard that many years ago, and I'm not sure if it's really valid or not.

gotta say, this opening makes me wish animated had been longer, not just the unfortunately never made season 4 but an extended version of the serie as we know it, like having th autobots and decepticons as a larger cast fighting even outside Michigan, like Blitzwing in the desert in this intro. Also the animation they made is amazing.

I've never seen "Animated," but I know that I would have wanted this for the show's theme song.
I think its kind of funny how the intro has Optimus telling kids to remember his name, since this was the first show in Japan to not call him Convoy.
If any of you want a good look into just how different Japan treats the Transformers, I recommend reading Animated’s TFWiki page and scrolling down to the Japanese section. In this series you had an altered episode order, Bulhead was named Ironhide (the real Ironhide was named Armorhide), there were three minutes cut from every episode to make room for reoccurring live-action skits or toy tutorials, and of course this intro. They even skipped the early Constructicon episodes and the barnacles episode.
Seriously, Japan’s dubs of these shows tend to be to radically different in tone and sometimes story. The Beast era shows were made into self-aware, lighthearted parodies that regularly relied on absurdism. Prime is also more humorous, with CGI shorts to advertise their own exclusive Microns toys and the Season 2 finale being reworked to be THE finale, completely disregarding the Beast stuff. RiD 2015 is barely treated as a sequel to Prime and has a LIVE PERFORMANCE from the voice actors at the end of every episode, with the first two seasons being considered different shows. The G1 cartoon continuity even went on longer than in the US, as they threw away The Rebirth in favor of making three different sequel series one after the other.

I never wanted to watch Animated because of it’s art style, I thought they made Optimus Prime in this look “ugly”, but when I heard of this intro, this made me watch it, and I take back everything bad I said of Tf Animated ans regret not watching it before

Wait... Optimus Prime has the same japanese voice actor as Joey/Jonochi from Yu-gi-oh!, and this was made by JAM Project, which Masaki Endoh is a part of, and he made Clear Mind and the last 2 Openings of YGO 5D's... Wow.

Yes this is OLD but I just saw it. I find it really funny the Japanese opening features a 4th tier character like Ironhide as if he's important to the show, heck Arcee is far more important and is barely in the show and never fights :P then the opening is pretty much for the whole of the series and notice Japanese specific openings for western action shows often feature fanfic like character mashups and battles that never come close to happening in the series proper.
Yeah, I know what you mean. It looks more to me like an intro to the 4th season or a movie rather than season 1-3. Too little focus on the main characters and too much screen time for characters that barely shows. Sure it's quite good but very misleading.
Isali Shade Reminds me of a clip I saw of the Japanese Opening of GI Joe A Real American hero, not an anime the old 80's cartoon. It used clips from the show but seemed overtly focused on the jet fighters from the cartoon rather than the human characters, from the majority of the footage being the jets one might think it was a show about the Air Force. Seems odd that they Japanese seem to lock on to some secondary or tertiary aspect of a western animated series when making an opening sequence.
The fanfic like battle mash-ups also seem to be a trend in anime openings in general too, With characters who don't meet locked in battle, in locations that never saw fights or battling foes that only appear in the opening animation and no where else
James Cole Aye, exactly. It gives the whole series other expectations than should be. Perspectives and camera movements for example. In this it clearly states another way for the series to be shown rather than the actual series.
About the matchup-fights... It feels like they just want action in the intro and don't mind whether or not these actually clashes. Same goes for the team-up-like revealing. Like they put - in this case - three characters together as though they are a team or close friends. Blurr, Sentinel and Jazz is one, Ratchet, Bee and Prowl is in another, and then Bulkhead, Arcee and Ironhide is the third, but Arcee knows none of them really. Logically they should've put Bee there instead of her. And Blurr doesn't work for or with Sentinel as far as the series shows. They all just happen to be Elite Guards.
... Gosh, looking at this over and over, analysing it makes me so sad they didn't go for the fourth season... Wish they would or will after Robots In Disguise.

I think it's the first time when characters had same names in Japan and USA. You know that before in Japan Autobots were called Cybertron warriors, decepticons were Destrons and Optimus prime had a name Convoy (some other names were also different)
It happened first in the 2007 movie (which the Japanese dub of Animated was supposed to be a prequel to, hence why Japanese Animated Bulkhead is named Ironhide, and Japanese Animated Ironhide is known as Armorhide)
Cybertron warriors and Destrons sound cooler though. Decepticons and Autobots sounds way too on the nose

Demonic Queen um you do realize the Japanese dubs for most of the transformers shows are almost entirely comedic with every character having a verbal tick and having completely different personalities.
Example: in America blitzwing had a German accent and is insane while in Japan his accent is American and he acts like a stereotypical street thug and is rude

This obvious Japanese masterpiece looks like a perfect intro for season 4 that we never got but would kill to get.
TFA season 4 looked like such a joyride:
1. Jazz and Ironhide join the main team as replacements for dead Prowl and Bulkhead, who joins Space Bridge engineers on Cybertron.
2. We would have an official animated Shattered Glass episode.
3. We would also get more Predacons with Blackarachnia and Waspinator back.
4. Also we could get official animated Devastator.
TFA was in my opinion the most original Transformers series (not including Beast Era) since the 84 cartoon:
1. Optimus as a young unexperienced leader and him evolving into this awesome Matrix bearer badass we all know as awesome and it took balls.
2. Sari as the first official USEFUL "human" character.
3. Many new original characters that got so loved by fanbase that they transcended into other media such as Bulkhead (who then joined cast of Transformers Prime), Lockdown (who had role in IDW comic books and was the main villain in horrendous TF4 movie), Lugnut (whose named was changed to Clubber and gender changed to female as he joined the Cyberverse series).
4. More superhero stories that actually fit the universe.
5. New origin for classic characters that actually worked (like Soundwave, Blackarachnia and Dinobots)
