@@gregm32He regretted it. A few people ended up souring on it in retrospect. Farley also hated Beverly Hills Ninja because they had edited out some stuff and made most of the movie a fat joke.

I think I've cracked the code. Why the show isn't funny anymore, yet the most loyal fans defend it harder than ever.
It's no longer a show mostly by comedians for fans of comedy. It is now a show mostly by theater kids, for theater kids, who are just happy to see the people they like play dress up.

@@sassysls1851 Bowen walking out in the Hooters uniform was funny, which is why it was weird that they walked him out at the very beginning of the sketch then didn't bother to do anything else with him. A much funnier sketch would have been Chloe and Sarah comparing tips, then Sydney making way more money than them, then at the end bring in Bowen in the skimpy outfit with the massive wads of cash he got as tips. It wouldn't have killed, but it at least would have been a comedic premise with a proper punchline.

Everyone's talking about Sweeney, but Chloe and Sarah look great too! A Hooters calendar of the three would be amazing.
When Bowen walked in dressed in the Hooters uniform I remembered an episode of King Of The Hill where Dale tried to sue a similar business for discrimination since he's a man, but they hired him anyway so he had to wear the uniform that the female servers wore.
I watched that episode a couple of weeks ago!

It's really ramped up these last few years with social media, I saw a whole group of 15 year olds speaking badly about their body, one thing they said really stuck out to me, one said they wanted plastic surgery on their fingers, cause they looked ugly, her fingers looked perfectly normal, little kids body images are getting so, warped, it's disturbing, and skits like this aren't helping

I remember being on a bus in Los Angeles with a VERY new and inexperienced, but attractive driver. As she hit curbs and caused passengers to hold on for dear life, the girls offered nothing but criticism, the guys, nothing but encouragement. One of these writers must have been on that bus.

So many sketches these past few years have just been "look how hot this host we found is". They did it with Jason Mamoa, Bad Bunny, and a bunch of other men and women I can't think of right now. It's as if the writer say "oh, good we don't have to write a lot of jokes this week, we have another hot host".

I'm guessing it struck a nerve because of that. The owl ending aside, the sketch was solid. You have people in the comments saying to bring back the days of 7 min of a dancing fat man where the joke is... you're going to love this..."He's fat and unattractive". So yea, I'm going to guess that nostalgia and people's lack of desire to be self reflective, choosing instead to live life totally uncritical of anything that may affect their milk toast world view, is skewing the response here. I bet Bowen was begging to have some nod to how we normalize this in relation to children with Hooters being a family restaurant and the writers and Hooters themselves said hell to the no. You can only imagine how certain commenters would have felt then.
They could've done the Matt Schatt skit if they were just going to lean into Sydney's looks all night.
