You should have gone to Devonport, Whitleigh & Keyham. Some of the most deprived places in Plymouth if not the entire South West. Way way worse than Union Street.

I have previously lived and worked on Union Street for 9 years and have seen it all, believe me. The Snack box was part of my day when in town, great local people and food. I have moved to a village in North Devon after 54 years, as Plymouth is in ruin now (like many other cities). I may now be on the beautiful north coast but you can never take the Janner out of a true Plymothian and Plymouth will always be my home . All the best bud.
