We shouldn't feel obligated to play every game which came out this year or every popular or recognizable game at all really, only those we really are interested in. And we shouldn't feel like we reallyu have to play it the year they launch, in fact playing them much latyer when there are huge discounts is always better. If you feel like you must play every popular game and within their launch window, it's a sign marketing managed to hypnotize you into living for consuming videogames and you have to reevaluate your relationship with your entertainment
Exactly
I'd even double down on that, a non-stop barrage of games kind of dilutes their impact, I'd rather play a few great games and let them breathe than cram them to make sure I'm up to date with the latest and greatest.
Yeah bro. You don't have to like or play every game
Bruh, I haven't played any game in the year that it released 😂 At least saved myself a buck and few brain cells.
To be fair it all boils down to that individual's interest in a particular genre or style of game that can make some degree of difference. Only way to describe it is that someone will keep playing that particular genre if it keeps them interested and that the games in that genre are able to keep that person entertained and at attention. Sone people like racing games more than survival/fighter games, and vice versa.
I'm far too much of a cheapskate to play anything recent outside indie games, like your video said, why play a game at launch. I'm just happy to have so many great choices, its a great time to be alive.
Yeah man honestly this year I don't think I paid for any full price AAA games either. All the AAA games I did play were on game pass :P
I highly recommend it, it's a really good deal
Mine is a game that didn't even come out this year. Instead, I played it this year. It's called Disco Elysium, and I definitely recommend it for someone who has gotten burnt out with video games. I've never played anything quite like it.
I started it in november (and momentarily dropped it for the meantime) but i loved its ambiance, dialogue and voice acting! Looking forward to finishing it next year
lol if u talk like that my game of the year is the last of us
Yeah I played it in January or February! Definitely one of the best games I played this year
Granted I have a ton more 2023 games to play but Cosmic Wheel: Sisterhood is easily my GotY. I am a practicing Wiccan and it is wondeful to encounter something so unashamedly modern-witchy.
Your so underrated your videos are like you have a million subscribers
Thank you so much! Your support means a lot
Oh my word, it's like a found my mind doppelganger.
You have so many of the same game opinions that I do. Which is pretty uncommon in today's gaming space.
Notable favorites:
Games don't need replay value.
Stop saying gaming isn't fun anymore.
Buying games on release is overrated.
You have guts for admitting to not like Pizza Tower! Just curious, what made you not like it?
I hated the art style before I even tried playing it :P which is why I put off trying it. It's soooo ugly I don't like looking at it.
And idk I only played for like half an hour but I just wasn't into the gameplay really
Mine is Alan wake 2 🗣️💯
Why do humans have to rank everything, pick out the best, decide which game is better than another. Like, I had fun with all of them, so what's the point in hierarchizing every game.
Hey, don't sweat it on saying 'this is my favourite game of the year' because for everyone that is going to be limited by what they have played. There is no expectation for anyone to have played everything.
Consider a way different scenario. I've actually met people like this. It's about TV shows rather than gaming but I hope you'll take the point. I've met people who will say they don't watch TV shows because they are all crap. Naturally, you can mention great TV shows. They have not watched them. Yes, they write off TV shows as bad just wholesale. Same thing for music. Honestly, I have talked to these people in real life, standing right in front of me. They are literally speaking out of their ass.
Imagine a friend of yours was to ask you for a game, TV show, movie, whatever, recommendation. You'd go with what you know. It's irrelevant there are things you don't know that might be better.
I just think one important thing to say in games is if we don't like it because we are bad at it. Back in the early Xbox 360 days, I rented some games. I was able to say I didn't like Rainbow Six Vegas because I was awful at it. I returned it pretty quick because I just5 couldn't get good at it. I was able to say I didn't like Just Cause which I rented around the same time I believe. World size was great, and the graphics for a game of that scale was impressive. Shit game though. Fetch quest of go here, get that, bring it back. Awful.
I intend to play Baldur's Gate 1 and 2 before I'd play 3. I have heard kinda mixed things on Alan Wake 2. Maybe it's great, just careful on the hype of it in advance of playing.
I don't understand why didn't give the game of the year the next year instead the year in course.
Pizza Tower Top W!!
I don’t have a Game of the Year, however it’s not because I feel like I haven’t played everything. That’s both silly and basically impossible.
God of War was my GOTY for 2018, and even though I bought RDR2 and played it for a few hours I didn’t finish it.
However, when I revisited it in 2020 it was my GOTY.
I rarely play games released the year when I play them. My backlog is just too massive, so it would make little sense, especially monetarily. I think the only exception in the last 15 years was Uncharted 4. I recently published a quick montage to highlight the 22 games I finished in 2023. Spoiler alert! My favorites were Red Dead Redemption: Undead Nightmare, A Way Out, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, Gears of War: Ultimate Edition, and Horizon: Zero Dawn.
"My favorite games I played this year" makes for a much more compelling list or video, in a world where everyone and their grandma has a "games of the year list" and they're usually the same 5, ordered differently. :)
Yeah I reckon next year I'll probably make a video like "favourite games I played this year". Just seems like a more personal and interesting video
Mine is Elden ring! 9,75/10 for me. If we are talking games that came out this year, it’s Octopath Traveler 2
you're a W for using life is strange background music
I am also sad that there are too many games. I can't play all the good ones, just don't have enough time!
GOTY is pointless, I'm one of the few people who didn't like Elden Ring or BG3. unfortunately those games aren't my style of gameplay I like and that's okay that doesn't mean there trash or anything it's just not my cup of tea.
Alan Wake 2 is boring af.. There are some cool moments and great graphics ... but that's not enough for me :( a huge disappointment
Yes, GOTY has no effect on gameplay.
So are the Oscar’s every year not fair indeed why I ought to….
W katamari ost
Yes, no explanation needed
He touched the tip
I like these awards because I think it's nice that they recognize the hard work of the developers of these games, even though I haven't played any of the nominees yet.
My game of the year is Dark Souls 3, among those that came out this year it would be Slay the Princess.
goated video :3
Thank you :3
I choose League of Legends i think
That's awesome bro...
Decent videos for such a small channel, hope you blow up guy.
The respectable RUclipsr opinion is BG3 is GOTY -- and possibly the GOAT. If you prefer TOTK, then that's acceptable. But anything else is anathema. You don't have to finish BG3 -- just play a few hours and proclaim it GOTY. It's acceptable to hate AW2 -- plenty of opinions that it's a walking simulator. But I have yet to see a respectable pundit have even a mixed opinion of BG3. To not accept BG3 as GOTY or at least runner-up is probably proof of mental illness. So please, stop what you're playing, and start BG3.
The only proof of mental illness is your God awful argument 😂
Epic viedo I liked it :D
Thanks!
Well I can and it’s baldits game 3
