  • Hello and welcome! This 2023 Yamaha R3 was my first motorcycle, so I figured I'd give my thoughts on it now that it has a friend in the garage. I hope you enjoy this review, and be sure to check out my recent review of my other bike, the 2024 Suzuki GSX-8R!
I'm also still learning how to edit, so let me know how I did. Thanks for stopping by!

The R3 is such a great bike. Better looking than the Ninja 400 and 500, more reliable than the RC390, and is very affordable. I paid 6,400 out the door for a brand new blue 2022 R3. Owned mine for 2 years now and still have so much fun on it. I highly suggest the LeoVince LV-10 slip on exhaust. Nice sounds and more affordable than other brands.

I love my R3. I’ve been considering some fun mods, but I actually might sell it and get a cruiser. I’ve had my sights set on a VROD.

I will never sell my R3 because it's just a great daily and commuter.

I'm looking at this as my second bike, I have a 125.
I had my sights set on the R7 as well but, being honest with myself, I have no use for the power and torque of the R7 besides posing and putting myself in danger.
Most people would consider this too small a jump to bother but here's the thing.
It's a huge jump because you're going from a city bike to a do-it-all bike that can do highways just fine, plus I am NOT on my way to a liter bike, I don't have an ultimate goal besides my bike being good for everything.

Not sure where you’re located, the R125 isn’t sold in the US, but to me the R3 is a pretty great all-rounder if you’re not going over 80mph for sustained periods. I wouldn’t want to do a cross-country trip on mine, but I’ve done a few 2 hour rides on it before I had to take a break and throw gas in it. Those were all backroad and suburban rides though.

Why do you say it’s not ideal for highways?

Looking at either an old cruiser 750 or an r3/similar as a first bike. I usually take the highway which is no more than 5-10 miles one way. Would it still be good to purchase? I’m not planning to go higher displacement.

You would be fine with either! The R3 would be a bit more fun in the twisties, but a cruiser would be better for comfort. Check out the Yamaha Star 650, they can be had super cheap.

Good video but I don’t really agree with your opinion on the highway performance of the bike. I commute daily on this bike including highway riding and I am always chilling in 5th gear riding with one hand going 85+ most of the time. The bike is more than capable for the highway as well. Just sucks a little more when it’s a SUPER windy day

Hey thanks for watching! I think it also depends where you live and ride. I’m in NJ, so riding on major highways on a slower bike is harrowing lol.

Would you recommend on a 4hr trip ?

Depends how good your back is lol! I need to take a break every hour and a half or so, but it’s absolutely possible.

@@queenhonda1 yes I took a little less than a 4 hour trip and it was just fine. I would just choose a day with less wind and also plan to take at least one break in the middle
