Coastwatch follows Fishery Officers from The Ministry for Primary Industries, NZ Airforce and Navy personnel, and the Maritime Police. Greenstone gets up close and personal to find out what’s involved in patrolling and enforcing the law that protects our coastlines, water-ways and billion dollar Kai-moana industries.
We also follow the men and women volunteering for Northland Regions Coastguard, and the Northland Electricity Rescue Helicopter. Tasked with responding to mayday calls, medical emergencies, on-water breakdowns and accidents, they keep our waterways, and those on them, safe. The Maritime Police, along with the Police National Dive Squad, are also on high alert for any maritime emergencies.

Things got heated in this episode! What was your favourite part?
Give them as high a ticket as possible there are zero excuses for poaching!! You can always come back the next day or whatnot!
Why do people insist on taking too many at once?! There won't be any left for future generations 😥
It's a combination of laziness and greed!@@RealLifeRescue
Fines don't work when the courts let you pay it off at $5 a week

Increase the fine/penalty
Go easy on the natives, they were here first, trying to feed the whanau.
Nz don’t have natives
a quick translator on this ep would go a long way
Yeah these Australians are hard to understand
Foreigners shouldnt be aloud to dive for kaimoana unless they no the rules fully an like every1 else get fined for it
Now that you have caught up with the people they have. left the area so I don't think it's fair to charge this people
Why isn’t it fair when they’re breaking the law they should be handed a bigger fine then they won’t do it again simple
Get a grip they should be jailed not let off
Penalties are way too light . These plunderers should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law . English as a second language is no excuse and these people are often the worst
What do you think would have been a fair fine to stop these fishermen from doing it again?
@@RealLifeRescue confiscation of vehicles and or boats used by poachers and minimum fine for any offence $1000.00. Also no bonding back of boats or vehicles ever .
