As someone who was forced out of my home here in Alberta because of "The Smoke" and the fire that burned up to the edge of town, it's terrible and sadly now a reoccurring problem every summer... The scenery on display in this video is still spectacular though! Montana is amazing!

Homestake Pass is a mountain pass of the Continental Divide of the Americas that divides Silver Bow County, MT to the west and Jefferson County, MT to the east. Currently, I-90 passes through Homestake Pass, but formerly, it was US 10.

In Butte, MT, I-15 merges with I-90 on I-90's carriageway, but the concurrency uses I-15's mile markers instead of I-90's. That is one rare concurrency that doesn't use the mile markers of a continuing carriageway.

That Alberta smoke is really causing a nuisance all over the place now, too bad it spoiled some of your views. Fantastic video! I always like these continental divide videos, I don't know what it is but when I drive one of them you always get a very internal feeling of something "crossing over" and now now being "reversed" somehow when you come down from the other side. I hadn't seen the I-90 divide one before, this one is new. I'm working on a Crowsnest Pass Alberta #3 video myself now from footage I shot last fall. I always wonder why Montana isn't more populated. It looks spectacular, who wouldn't want to live there?

I will be driving through Crowsnest Pass into Calgary, then taking the TCH west to Golden this coming weekend! Looking forward to seeing it myself and your video of it.
Montana has really harsh winters and lots of snowfall that keeps people away. There also isn’t a ton of industry or high paying jobs. The state is growing rapidly though, especially with the rise in remote work. People are moving from areas with higher costs of living, keeping their higher salary, but working “remotely” and moving to Montana where the cost of living is extremely low. It’s making things really difficult for the locals here and changing the slow, rural, and more conservative nature of the state.
