The zip tie helped me keep tensioner fully stretched so I would be able to tightening tensioner bolt. If tensioner is not fully stretched it’s very difficult to insert the belt.
I got the same problem. The bolt holding the spring misthreaded (probably due to the tension of the spring) and I couldn’t tighten it down all the way but I put it all back anyway because I couldn’t face reality at the time. The car runs and sounds better now than before the change. Do you think it could hold a while? I’m thinking about looking at it again in a few months and first try a new bolt and if that doesn’t work I’ll do what you did here. Or maybe I can just keep it as is until the next interval? I don’t know if the vibrations are enough to undo the bolt with the spring against it. And the other bolt is good and tight.
I would go with the safe side doing this helicoil. If remember correctly this is an interference engine once bolt fails you may get into engine head damage which is much more expensive
@@orenweinstock6867 Yes I agree but time is limited and so is money, so I need to consider the economic aspect of it. I think it can go a couple of weeks. I only drive a few times weekly. But thank you for the warning :)
@@orenweinstock6867 Just wanted to thank you for the video. I had time to look at the car and I rethreaded with a Helicoil kit and after that I could get in the tensioner properly. I don’t know if I would have had the confidence to do it myself without your video! I drilled a little too far and a small hole formed but I put some silicon in there and screwed on the tensioner tight. Will try to start the engine tommorrow :)
@@orenweinstock6867 Hey! I started the engine today and went for a little drive. It went well! I feel like there's some other noise present now that was not there before but I can't be sure and it doesn't sound too bad. I'm just gonna drive it and see how it feels from now on :) Thanks again.
@@ignacioarieldiazpereyra-jz9ec the procedure is as follows : 1. Support engine with screw jack and piece of wood in between. 2. Unbolt engine mount (the one close to the timing side) 3. Once timing has done, you should raise engine to its original level and re-install mount ( consider mount replacement if worn) Tell me if further help is needed
Is it only the bottom that has too be correctly lined up when putting in a new belt..? I thought you had to make sure the top were in a particular position, too...(?)
Hi, you must have both aligned to a very specific position! More than that. Once both aligned to place and bet is on plus tensioner armed (and only then!!!) you should rotate your Franck at least two full 360 degree rotations and make sure marks aligned again
Sir.. Does a bad timming belt make a car pickup slow ? I have hyundai getz 2009 model, i'm having an engine missing problem and pickup problem so i went to a mechanic, we change a plugs, plug wires, injectors, coils, fuel filter, fuel pump, and the mech adjust the timming in a correct position , than it was so good but after two, three days the pickup in very slow , slower than before, and the mech said that the timming belt is old need to change new ones, so, if the timming belt is bad can it really cause slow pickup to a car..or maybe something else ?
Hi ! You can check timing again just to make sure it didn’t jump one/two teeth. Does the check engine light pop up ? I suggest connecting an obd reader and record some time d While driving. Reading the record might give you a clue
If timing chain is old it is better to replace, if this is an interference engine and belt is ripped piston can hit valves and than head overhaul is inevitable.
@@orenweinstock6867 no, the engine light did not pop up, and i've scanned with OBD everything is clear and fine..but still there's no pickup even if i accelerate hard the car did not run fast at all
you might accidentally moved the gears a bit in relation to one another. Even rotating them by one gear relative to each other may damage your engine, there are special dots cut out on the gears which point to the correct alignment, both of the timing gears should be perfectly aligned with those cutouts.
Essentially I agree with you. But you can do two things. 1: Adjust the video 'playback' speed. You'll find that option when you open the 'star' wheel under the video. 2: Turn off the sound.

Hi awesome video thanks , please could share with me how to drop the engine ? Thank you mate
I saw you used a jack , but what else I must do ?
Hi ! You should support oil pan with a jack. Don’t forget adding a block of wood in between jack and oil pan

Sorry I don’t understand all the process, I put a jack under the oil pan but how I get it lower , do I need to easy sone bolts ?
Is only that nuts on the left side of the engine , I will try

what was the idea behind the zip ties?
What about the camshaft marks ?
I have a picture how can I send it to you ?
