Thanks! I always look forward to Friday (well Thursday for me as I watch on the website) and getting "stuck in"!!! As I always say Colin, keep 'em coming! Got my coffee and getting ready to watch the bonus unboxing!
⭐️Thanks mate! Hope you are doing good? 🙏😎
@@theguitaristas Doing well Colin! THANKS!!! Getting ready to go back on the ambulance (for the job, NOT as a patient! LMAO) and I cannot wait. Rehab is done and my new plastic/metal/titanium knees feel great! LOL
@@brutus6328 Great to hear that! 😎👍👍
Ditto ❤
I understand the fear in playing in shops, personally think your a great player & appreciate all the hard work you put in. This is & has been my favorite channel for quite some time. Have a great weekend Collin.
my favourite guitar channel too, I can't be doing with all the shouty American channels.
@@markfahey3921 did you really have to poke your finger in the eye of the "Americans"?
Cheers Edward that's really appreciated! 🙏😊 Have a good one yourself mate!
@BeantonwToBigD I'm sure he didn't mean it like that and they all probably think i'm shit anyway so it sort of balances out...
@@theguitaristas no we don't! Plenty of us from across the pond love your playing! Cheers!
27:18 Epiphone killing it yet AGAIN!
Whatever they've been doing over the past two years, they need to just keep doing it!
Agreed. 😁
Ditto. I would love to have a Gibson, Heritage or Eastman guitar, but all are beyond my pocket. I did stretch to an Epi LP 59 and have no regrets
I just bought an Epi SG with the P90's and it is instantly my favorite guitar out if the 6 I own! It sounds even better than my PRS. I can't put it down! So yeah, whatever Epiphone is doing don't stop! And thanks Colin for the advice. It was your video that convinced me to get it.
That's interesting. I don't have a p90 loaded guitar and hope I can afford one in the new year. Considering the Rpu Wiltshire?
Always loved Epiphone and glad to see them rising too the top .And i own two 1995 birds eye maple les Paul and a 2010 SG Prophecy with EMG pickups which i don't like that much 81/85 pickups don't have the tone as my Les Paul.
Great job and I always enjoy your playing Colin! So excited you went with another Eastman too! I can't speak highly enough about them. Love my Eastman goldtop! Thanks for the great content, cheers!
As an SG player for 40yrs…I just love coming to this Chanel to see the wall of SGs…Best reviewer on YT….no bullshit…keep it up my man👍
Cheers Ashley that's appreciated man!... I do love an SG! 😁👍🔥
Just got my first SG! Epi Modern, and I Lloooove it.
Well considering the price of all three I think the epiphone knocks um out the park! Great playing today Colin! 👍🎸🔥
Yep, I'll go with that.
Cheers James!
Nah, the epiphone sounded dull and dead unplugged. If the instrument isn’t reasonably its not worth having.
Thanks once again for another great review. Never liked demos or reviews til I came across yours. I luv them.
I’ve been watching YT since it started. I watch guitar content all the time and today is the first time I’ve come across your channel. Immediately subscribed! Great content, well edited, and I appreciate you giving your actual opinions. Many channels feel a bit more like watching an advert as of late.
Cheers Andrew, glad you found us thanks for the sub and support! 😎👍
Thanks for the video and the detailed comparison! I bought the Eastman SB55/v last year and I've been using it at every gig or rehearsal ever since. It's a fantastic "Rock 'n' Roll Guitar" and absolutely perfect for me as a singer and rhythm guitarist in a band. Brilliant craftsmanship!
Really enjoy how in-depth your channel is and how unbiased you are. I actually have the same Gibson les paul Junior you have and absolutely love it, probably my go-to guitar. That being said, I actually just bought the TV yellow Epiphone special instead of the Gibson and a Gold Top 50s Epi over the Gibson because of your channel and reviews. Thank you for helping me look past the name on the headstock.
Thanks for your excellent work! It's my favorite guitar channel.
My friend, you are an excellent musician. You would make a damn good tech and your humble attitude is overwhelming. You're referring to some people that are basically full of themselves to the point to where nothing around them affects them other than what they're doing, you sir, are a kind Person
😊🙏
Bought an Eastman almost on a whim and there’s not a thing I would change about that guitar. Neck and fretwork are perfect, and the pickup rocks. It’s a pure joy to play and through a tweed deluxe it’s epic.
Same! Eastman put Gibson to shame
If you’re so happy with a Chinese guitar maybe you should get a Chinese amp to match it. People seem to be enjoying the new Fender Tone Masters and I’m sure they will eventually have a Tweed model in the lineup.
People buying expensive Chinese guitars are going to be the death of the American made guitar. I hope all guys will be happy when that day comes. Choices have consequences whether or not you believe it.
@@charlesbolton8471Go back in time and prevent USA companies from realizing that they could make more money by outsourcing. Our US guitars are chock full of over seas parts just like those Eastmans have German (Faber) and Japanese parts in them. And Eastman sources woods from the same lots as Collins which is a US company. Hell I don’t know how many children built my iPhone but I know that I’m on my iPhone right now.
@@aperezdeal
If I could I would, and while I was back there I’d tell Leo Fender and Ted McCarty to protect their designs. Then we would a dramatically different guitar industry today.
I’m using my iPhone right now, too. I might be in the minority, but I would be more than willing to pay twice the price if Apple gave the option to buy an American made iPhone.
@@charlesbolton8471 I hear you, but if computer prices from the 80s is anything to go by it may be closer to 4x the cost.
I love your videos. Original and thoughtful. Thanks for doing what you do.
Thanks man!
Thank you sir that is a comparison I’ve wondered about although I would have loved to have another model or two. But it was fun visiting you anyway…cheers mate!
Great content as allways! By far my favourite guitar channel! Keep up the great work and thank you very much!
Cheers Felix that’s appreciated man! 😎👍
I had the good fortune to try the Eastman in a shop. I immediately felt “at home”- the feel of the finish, neck shape and weight were all just right. It didn’t disappoint when I started to play. I always enjoy your playing Colin and your videos are some of the best to be found on RUclips. Keep up the good work!
Cheers Ian!
I am fairly new at watching your videos and only about 18 months into playing but I have acquired a few guitars already. I absolutely love your videos and you always put out great information about the stuff you are reviewing and playing. As long as you’re making videos…. I will be watching! And also I do believe that P90 sound is my favorite! Have a great day sir
Thank you so much! But I’m not having much luck. I can’t figure out what to do lol
Since I own the new Epiphone Les Paul Special and a white Tokai Les Paul Special I am leaning towards the Billie Joe Armstrong Junior. The Epiphone P-90 PRO pickups are surprisingly good. I'd pick an Eastman over a Gibson everytime, though. But with a different finish, for sure.
me as well warmer tone
Another excellent review, thanks Colin. Accompanied by some of your most enjoyable playing yet!
Have a good 'un¨
Cheers David and you!
Another Great Video Collin. My Epi Les Paul Jr is fantastic. I lower the tone down to about 8 and I get that good dark sound out of it.
and I bet you get more sounds out of it than any other guitar eh? 😁👍
Another great video Colin! Loving the Eastman content Keep it coming! And might I say, the Les Paul Juniors seem to bring out something in you as you sound great. Can’t wait to watch the next video tonight. Cheers from Brisbane.
Cheers Stefan!
I've watched this video several times. I decided to buy the BJA Junior based on your review. It fit my budget, first of all. I chose this model over the Epiphone Les Paul junior because of the numbers: neck size, etc. I'm glad you make comparisons like this.
Another great video Colin, I believe Eastman make great guitars even though I'm not in the market for a LP junior, I love your enthusiasm
Bless ya, been looking forward to this one!! The sunburst is my favorite color for sure.
Love the channel and I appreciate the honest and unbiased reviews. One thing I wouldn’t mind seeing is a quick inspection of the frets with a fret rocker, particularly on the budget guitars. I’ve noticed a lot of high frets on budget guitars and it’s not a cheap to have a guitar tech level the frets. Cheers!
Colin, excellent video as usual. Very impressed with the Eastman sound.
Thanks mate!
Your content is awesome. Just keep doing what you’re doing however often you are able to. I’m 52 and still battle with the guitar - in a good way ! Cheers
Cheers man that's appreciated!... guitar is a lifelong and thoroughly enjoyable battle! 😎👍
Excellent review. Thank you for all your effort. So enjoyable. 🤘👍
Cheers Dan! 😎👍
I bought a epi special in t.v. yellow. There was only one issue, the back of the neck was very sticky. Sanded it down to bare wood, applied boiled linseed oil and perfection. 👍👍👍
I own an Epiphone Jr and love it, but I'm impressed with the Eastman from what I'm hearing, but the price is out of my budget, great video
Thank you so much for this video. I took your word and bought an SB 55 last Saturday. I just played my first gig with it tonight, and it completely blew my mind. If I had money, I would buy every Eastman on the market.
Nice one! 😁👍👍 I’m gradually buying them all!! 🔥
Agreed with the one in ten. They were literally known as that back in 2000 when I ran a studio. Since then I've bought and sold loads. The 2017 HP classics were an uptick for me. The others had all the usual issues- refusal to intonate above the 12th on the g and d, binding bleed, poor nut work, bad tops...Ugh. I moved to an sg from 98 and never looked back.
Good video as ever.
Great vid and great playing Colin, has to be the Epi for me! all the best mate.
I think they all sound fantastic. Great playing, too.
So here I go again... I find a new interest in a new genre of guitar and Guitaristas are there with the content I need :D Cheers Col.. nice one!
Another great comparison video. Hard to beat the value for money you get with the Epiphone. My Junior is a 2011 Epiphone project guitar I got used from our local shop. Played it several times and got along well with it. Had cheap tuners, a very hot humbucker and not great wiring. I went for a Generic Korean made alnico 5 humbucker-sized P90, premium wiring from 6 String Supplies, Graphtec nut and vintage style white button tuners. Killer little guitar now.
Not going to argue with you by any means... but there is not so much of this value for the money with musical instruments .. you get what you pay for.. And honestly - I am glad I bought all my gear years ago. They just dont do them that way anymore. Bean counters and stakeholders - the corporate greed won.
Great video Col. I’d just controlled my gas for an Eastman SB59 in the Vintage finish...now it’s back! Nearly every review I’ve read / watched rates Eastman very highly.
Danger lies ahead… 😜
Always look forward to your video's thanks for putting in the time.
Thanks for supporting! 😎👍
Thanks for another great review. Love the Eastman and the Epiphone
Another great video! Those Eastman guitars look awesome
The JJN signature Epiphone "Gold Glory" may be the best single cut P90 being made right now. LP shape, ebony and mahogany, with a Seymour Duncan P90.
I haven't found anything yet that comes close.
Great video. Thanks.
Your playing videos are some of the best on RUclips. Now I want that Eastman. Keep playing on.
Thanks Chad that's appreciated! 🙏😊
The Eastman is the one I like. Your playing even went up a bit with the Eastman and the pickups sound bright and clear.
Love this vids! Great to hear an honest point of view from someone who is objective and does not put Gibson on a pedestal… You should review the Eastman Les Pauls, very curious to hear your opinion. Keep it coming! Nice work.
Watch this space!… 😜
Watching you play them, I noticed you were enjoying the Eastman more. I've had Eastman acoustics and they were great, thanks for the review👍
Great review and Video, Colin !
Cheers Dan!
What a teriffic analysis and all round entertainment thank you for your work sir! I shall look forward to tuning in more often.
On the back of this I bought the Eastman having tried a few Gibsons which to me felt like toys in comparison and were most definately not 'the ones' (and im a dyed in the wool Gibson man). The Eastman is a joy. That ebony neck alone-wow and, well, all of it really.
Thanks again
Cheers Howard, fantastic guitars eh!! 😁👍
@@theguitaristas Yes indeed-they will be worth a fortune in 50 years time😂
Love Juniors. I have a Gibson and an Epi custom shop. Blindfolded I would never be able to tell the difference. Thanks for the show. Cheerski.
Cheers man!
Thanks Colin. It is going to come down to what we feel, hear and quality. They all seem like decent guitars.
I have an Epiphone Plus Top Pro Les Paul but I need to replace the output jack or at least the retainer nut. Because it will not tighten as it should. Hence the perceived quality of the original assembly. Peace.
Just managed snap up the Billie joe epiphone from Andertons it’s on sale down to £419 with hard case. Arrives just after Xmas. Your video on this and the review on the epiphone did it for me. I now have 4x single pick-up jnrs in my collection of guitars. Merry Christmas 🎄
😁👍
You make them all sound great but surprisingly I preferred the Gibson for sound and the Eastman for looks. As it was a close 2nd I think it's the one I'll buy one day.
I have one of these Eastman’s. Best guitar I’ve ever owned. Feels like I’ve had it for 20 years.
I totally believe this takes you all week. the quality of your videos show that, the multiple angles, the video closeups, excellent editing, the organized handwriting in that notebook... and all this presented in an indexed manner.
Cheers Danny, thanks for watching that’s the most important bit! 😁🙏👍
Out of those three I would by the Eastman if they were the only P90 guitars available. However, the Middle range Yamaha Revstar has got me very interested and for the money, it's brilliant. And, you get two pick ups....
I just bought thr PRS SE One this week. Can't wait to hold ))) It would be interesting to compare One with the tested guitars. Thanks for the excellent review!
Great video Colin! I love your honesty, and sense of humor. I own the Gibson myself, and I bought the Music City saavy bridge for it. it made it so much more enjoyable to play. It looks stock, but it's compensated, and much lighter. no more sitar'ing. I prefer the finish on the Eastman, and Epiphone is no slouch at all. they're all good arent they?
Cheers Matt, is that the one uncle Larry told us about? 🤔
Great review mt, loved the color of the Eastman , a darn good job breaking down all three, most excellent job m.
ya did well mt, keep on rocking m.
Thanks man that's appreciated!
@@theguitaristas thats mega mt keep on rocking m.
I'm pretty sold on the Eastman. It just sounds right. I haven't had a chance to play either but based on the weight and resonance it's probably more on par with a G cs variation. I love the varnish and don't mind that it "personalizes via dents and dings" easily.. and Great googly moogly the sound!! It has a characteristic I can't quite place my finger on.
I agree with a lot of the views below. I like the way you are down to earth and a normal bloke! Plus I was surprised about your revelation, that you, like me and probably most guitarists? Have the playing in a shop problem. Brilliant and entertaining programme!!
Cheers Albert...to be honest i'm just a normal bloke lucky enough to own a few cameras and have bit of time on my hands! 🤣
Good catch on qualifying the "French Polish" unfortunately my mind went there instantly. Thanks for the excellent information.
Great review again Colin. I really enjoy and appreciate your honest, interesting and entertaining comparison videos especially. Knowing your preference for P90 loaded guitars, have you seen that Sire are releasing a Larry Carlton single cut/LP with P90s? Might be interesting
😲... thanks Howard I didn't know that! I'll definitely be trying to get one of those!! 😎👍
i bought the billy ray armstrong one because of your video i love it so much
I love this channel, as a guitar but novice player this channel makes me feel like I’m chatting about guitars at home or in the pub with my mate. Playing in shops really intimidated me but I invested in the Fender mustang micro - I take that with me now with my headphones and I can play in my own world in the corner and not feel embarrassed. The micro gives you a good sense of the guitar through you home amp, it’s also improved my ability to play at home with disturbing the wife. Great little investment guys…
Cheers Andrew, that’s a great tip for trying out guitars in store! 👍👍
Great channel. Thanks for all you do
Another great episode. Love your channel.

They all look awesome to me, especially the white Epi & with a hardcase you can’t really grumble at that price
With your influence (another of your videos; Epi VS Gib LP Special) I ordered the Epiphone IBG. Thank you again.
Fantastic review. Interesting and enjoyable.
Hi Collin!.
All three sound excellent but to my ears the Eastman sounds more resonant.
The Eastman when you stram a chord has more presence unplugged and plugged.
Very good review as always and great playing.
Thanks.⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Cheers Michael, I thought and felt that too... about the Eastman, not my playing! 🤣
Perfect. My next purchase will be a Jr.
Your enuendos had me laughing so hard! The Eastman is definitely my favorite of the 3. That Epi didn't sound bad at all either! Thanks for showing us!
Another really good video. I really enjoy watching. Your demeanor tends to calm me. Lol Keep up the good work. Always look forward to seeing a new vid popping up.
Looking forward to your OX review. I’m on the edge of my seat to purchasing one.

Good video Colin. I own an Eastman as you know and the quality is stunning. Recently bought a Gibson DC Junior Tribute from the European Gibson demo shop in Netherlands and it is a fine instrument. I wouldn't but an expensive Gibson from an online retailer.
Cheers Brian, loving the Eastman's now mate! 😁👌
That Eastman sounds unbelievable but I suspect it's because of the Lollar pickup. It looks so killer too though!

And now this episode confirms it.

What a thoughtful demonstration on the EPi-phony @26:54 turning it down a little and cleaning it up after each chord strum. No one else does this. Thats the vital bit of information I need. How it cleans up dynamically. Thank you.
Always wonderful...thank you for all your hard work a dedication.

Great video! I would love any of these three. My budget dictates that I'll need that Epi if you please. 😂
Great review n video. Gave me a good chuckle you old French smoothie.. still Stoke with my BJA Epiphone.. cheers cober

I am an old house painter, and gloss is not your friend unless the foundation is perfect. I am a big fan of French rubbed effect. Also, I am finally beginning to understand what a monumental job Epiphone is doing. Thank you.
Loving the channel!!!
Hey Colin, bit late to comment. Had to work through the weekend and was under the weather but got to watch the whole video now and just wanted to say job well done as always! I can only imagine the hours it takes to make these and know a lot of time goes in each week and just wanted to say I really appreciate your videos and you’re one of the few channels I consistently enjoy coming back to. I was always a Gibson only player but have given the new Epiphones a chance since seeing your vids and have been very pleasantly surprised. Now I want to try an Eastman. 😁
Cheers man thanks for watching… that’s what makes the effort worthwhile! (plus of course the excuse I have to buy guitars… 😜) 😁👍
@@theguitaristas Haha a nice bonus for sure! And we all benefit as well. 🤘😁
Great video as usual! Thank you for all the effort and excellent information. I think it’s true that 9/10 Gibsons aren’t that great (commensurate with the price tag at least) but also 9/10 of the owners either won’t say it, because of what they paid, or don’t know how much better it could be if done properly. I work in the luxury new car business and know this to be true for cars as well!
So I’ve got a little “A/B” comparison weekend ahead of me: I ordered the Bonamassa Epiphone ‘62 ES-335 signature a while back and the first one showed up with its head snapped off. Joes team were/are fantastic and they shipped me another within 36 hours. Shortly after my initial JB order I ordered a Eastman T486 and the stars aligned to have them both show up today. I’m a Epiphone fan boy for sure, but I think this will be a close fight.
Have a great weekend Colin.
Nice one Brent 👌... please report your findings back! 😎👍
I'm an SG guy. I have a Strat Plus that I love, but my favorite SG is literally within arm's reach all day. I've wanted a Junior since the 70s. Thanks... I think!
Great video Colin😎👍
Lollar gets my vote for most dynamic pup, lending itself to more styles of music. When acquiring my Eastman Uptown 805e... years ago, the vintage French polish was as much of a selling point for me😃😎👍 Just a beautiful finish that ya can't keep yer hands off of😎👍

Great review Colin, I always tell anyone seeking to buy a Gibson try as many as you can. All these guitars sound great to me and the Epi is the one if you're gigging cause it's great bang for your buck, saying that the Eastman is still at the top of my shopping list, it's just quality.....

Nice one Colin. I'm not sure which is best, they all have their own tones. So I think it would be beneficial to any player to have one of each in their guitarsenal. I own a Gibson junior dc already and plan to get an Epiphone junior for my daughter. Now the Eastman, that is one sexy piece of gear. I will definitely have to aquire one for myself. That neck, the finish and the lollar p90 put it on my wishlist. Keep up the great work, you have one follower for the life of your channel. Cheers
Cheers Donny! thanks for supporting man and adding a new word to my vocabulary... 'Guitarsenal' I love that! 😆👍
I've got to say that the Epiphone and Gibson could go either way, but that Eastman sounds so nice and clear with the Lollar pickups.
Love your reviews. Properly down to earth and none of the horrible guitar bullshit that goes with a lot of this stuff. You’ve sold me both the epi 59 lp and the sg 61 on the strength of your honest appraisals of them. And they are ace guitars. I’m lucky enough to have a couple of really nice bits in a 345 and vintage Jazzmaster to compare with and they are absolutely brilliant for the money. Cheers for the time and effort you spend on her channel
