I’ve made plenty! Impatience is #1. I allowed a brand owner to shake me when she got upset bc the $50 she spent on a Facebook ad didn’t have any impact at all. If I had known what I know now, I would have been able to explain to her that it takes more time, money and effort to develop and fine tune a successful ad and you can’t just expect to hit the ground running and get 100s of new leads from a $50 ad spend. #whew
I think the biggest mistake I have made is not being specific enough with the targetting And also the direction of our brand is not clear Mainly because our expectations of what can be accomplished is higher than what it ends up taking
Such a common one Hasan. The more clarity you have about what youre doing and who youre doing it for... the more relevant you become to them and the more you look like the obvious choice
BRAND STRATEGY MISTAKES: 1. Focusing too much on revenue tunnel vision - Don't lose sight of what, why, and who you actually do it for. These should be the compass and if not, it will show. 2. Plastic statements - A proper brand strategy is a must, and they are not just spamming different types of statements. 3. Vague target audience - Categorize your market specifically. Know who they are inside and out, then target those. 4. Following your competitors - Don't replicate, the purpose of competitor research is to find gaps that they're leaving out to position the brand and for the differentiation strategy. 5. Undefined position - Have a clear offer, and why should they really remember you. 6. Absent personality - Speak like a human and not a money grabbing brand. Show the chracteristics your market resonates with. 7. Inconsistent brand voice - In every touch point, be consistent and have an understandable guideline EVERYONE should follow. 8. Lack of authenticity - If you don't mean anything you say, the market will know it. Be more about the audience in a real way. 9. Unclear messaging - Communicate your difference and the value of it properly. Have a framework in place to deliver what perception do your customer want about you. 10. Overlooking impact of emotions - Their decision is not mostly logic, but from the emotional part of our brain. Trigger those fears and desires. 11. Self-centered stories - Don't just speak about yourself, it's also about the story of the audience and HOW they can resonate with yours. Tell them about the part they see themselves in and what can they learn about it. 12. Disconnected copy - Even tho the readers of your copy ARE the target audience, If it doesn't feel like they're speaking to them, then the audience wouldn't feel connected with you. Be human and not corporate. 13. Misaligned visual identity - It's not about the trends, It's about having characteristics that is in line with the audience and the brand strategy. 14. Unfocused marketing - Don't be everywhere, know where they're currently active and be consistent there. 15. Automation over Audeicne - It can tarnish the relationship with the audience, so take the time to personally reply to their needs. 16. Impatience - It takes very long and a good brand is not made overnight. So stay focused, consistent, and smart.

Wow - When you think about it ... I bet you'd pay $50 to avoid a phone call like that again 😂
