Dr. Osborne I think you mean high MCV levels rather than high MCH..thank for your work.
MCV doesn't always get high enough to get noticed and it's a late finding. Folic acid in our food and supplements also can mask MCV but doesn't fix b12 deficiency just lets it hurt you longer. High MCH happens too.
Thx Dr O
My dad had a skin issue in the 90s. They had no idea what it was. The doctors did chemical peels on his arms, called it cancer, precancer, sent him to specialists. Then at a random eye doctor appointment the eye dr checked his B12 levels and diagnosed him with pernicious anemia and he started on B12 shots and his skin cleared up. Thank goodness modern day doctors do more blood testing on the first visit.
Can u please elaborate???color of skin symptoms etc
My sister has this.

Doc
Been taking your methylcobalmin for several months, and today my blood test results for B12 show it at 2000.
Did you do the pause of around 30 days before testing?
@@liri7815 No. I took B12 up to the day of the test. My own doctor says she takes 1000 mcg. daily herself. The test results called 2000 as "above high normal." My vertigo, balance, and extreme fatigue problems are gone.
@@maryjones8726 cause we need pause B12 and stuff similar for the correct result. I also take it, I use jarrow formulas b12 b9 b6, D (also important against depression) and pause at least 20 days before exam.
@@monamunot2500 Never knew about the injections, however, Dr. Osborne's lozenges worked for me when I had vertigo. Will always continue to take them.
@@maryjones8726 what type of vertigo did you have?
The room spinning or walking on clouds feeling?
Thanks Doc👍

what about gerd and sleep apnea effects and effects of nexium. orbarretts esopogus?
26:25 I thought the two active forms were Methyl- and Adenosylcobalamine both of which are made from Hydroxycobalamine?
I've been recommended to take either Hydroxycobalamine or take both active forms methyl- and adenosylcobalamine in a 50:50 ratio.
Hello from Oklahoma!

Neuropathy can be caused by Gluten sensitivity.
Thank you for great videos. I discovered your chanel last night and have watched 2 so far.
Does sublingual B12 get absorbed better?
Yes it does
Great advice but wanted to remind you Dr Osbourne that both Cyanocobalamin and Hydroxocobalamin break down to into co-Methylcobalamin and Adenosylcobalamin. Even though the most of the body has Methyl the body need Adeno as well.
The other thing is that Folic Acid is a co-factor for B12. It works synergistically to convert B12 so the body can use it.
And.... any B12 that comes in a bottle/vial or pill is manufactured. "Natural" can only refer to the original source.
Mary Byrne
Folate is the natural form, folic acid is synthetic.
@@leeharlow5633, folate in its natural form is only got from food. Anything made into tablet form is manufactured.... therefore it is not natural.
For instance, you would have to eat an unnatural amount of spinach to get 5mg of Folate but you can get 5mg Tablets that are tiny... how can you say they are natural? Using the word natural on supplements is very wrong and leads many people who dont have the tools to research and understand the differences, into believing this sort of rubbish to be true.
Dont believe the hype.
You are obviously free to disagree.
Mary Byrne
You was pulling him up about natural and synthetic, then proceeded to use folic acid ( synthetic ) as a co factor for b 12.
Never mind, think the point went clearly over your head.
Cyancobalamin made from cyanide. Hydroxyl does get changed inro methyl cobalamin the active form but needs goid enzyme functions which some may not have well functioning such as mthfr for 1 so active form immediately useful to anyone. Cofactors inc folate and B6. Maybe others also. Methylation requires B5 B12 and folate. Also a good multivitamin helps.
Cyanocobalamin doesn't break down into methyl/adeosyl forms. It breakes down into cyanide and cobalamin. Cyanide gets processed in the liver. Cobalamin converts to transcobalamin for storage, later to be converted into the two usable forms. 5MTHF is a cofactor with Methylcobalamin only, not Adenosylcobalamin.
Is Quest diagnostics, RBC magnesium blood test accurate and is it considered an intracellular test?
24:50 low serum B12: no bueno
Hi, Dr Osborne . I'm listening from Torrance California. I have pretty severe acid reflux. I'm on esomeprazole 40 mg daily. I also take tums as needed. I take 2500 mcg also daily. Is there anything I can do to increase B12 absorption?
Thank you for your extremely informative videos. I especially liked the one on amino acids.
What do you think about b12-infused IV treatment where you can walk in and take IV?
Hi Dr osborne.
I had high MVC not high MCH, can it still be b12 deficiency?
My hb are lower but my iron, ferritin transferritin are all good.
My RBC are low.
Kind regards from Anna
Dr: I have type 2 diabetes but I couldn't take Metformin due to it causing severe diarrhea, but I'm taking Glipizide instead. Does that also contribute to B12 deficiencies?

I know I'm deficient I'm definitely going to order vitamin b12
I cannot believe you spent an entire hour on B12 and methylation and didn't cover MTHFR SNP's, and at least let people know that different SNP types may benefit from different types of cobalamin.
How to increase intrinsic factor?
Do you mean high MCV rather than high MCH¿

WHAT IS OPTIML B12
Where are you located sir, and what it will take to have an appointment with you for the consultation.
Hi doc, I ruptured my appendix, illium and cecum. I can't be the only person with this. I would love to have you explain what I need to do differently because of having these removed. Perhaps I will start to feel less like I just died in the ambulance and more like I'll be ok. It's been 14 years and I've gotten past falling asleep every time I sit down but now I have a hard time with low iron/iron absorption. It is very disruptive being tired but unable to sleep/ rest because my iron gets low so easy. I get methylcobalamine shots about once a month. I forget because I don't notice the difference but my kids do so they remind me.

Why would it B12 not be getting into cells if in blood? Can long term B12 deficiency lead to yellowing in whites of eyes from cell turnover? The only other thing I think needs to be added is it really would be best to get it tested somewhere and to try to identify the reason for the deficiency. Once start taking the level is going raise and test ok after supplementation if sufficient but leaves one wondering if need ongoing or not.need it documented or have to battle again if change drs
Did you mean MCV rather than MCH?
What can I do to improve my immune system mine is always runs 1 to 3

MMA is the most important and uniquely specific to show that your b12 is causing damage.

I just got tested by my Functional Medicine doctor showed high levels in serum sample. Turns out I don't have the enzyme to break down B12 so it collects in my blood. Can you talk about this?
With injections what would be a proper dose thank you
Vitamins have adverse reaction on my stomach , what would your suggest for it? How should I take vitamins because I need them as my meal isn't that much nutritionally full

What if B12 is in 2000. My B12 is always high and i have fibromalgia. I have been tested every year for harmones, thyroid and vitamins and minerals
Do you get an active b12 test. That one tests B12 in the cells

People will stomach issues that will interfere with absorption. Many many problems medications can block absorption in the stomach! Health starts in the stomach, gut. Surgeries of the digestive system can cause an absorption problem. The list of medications was s unbelievable that interferes with absorption. We need nutritional testing by a qualified doctor. Mainstream drs don’t even know about nutrition or care about tests for nutrition deficiencies. People are waking up to this issue of treating symptoms not the root of the disease or deficiency. Thank you Dr Osborne for teaching us how to be our own advocate to ask the right questions and look for a dr who has knowledge of true medical healthcare! This world has changed drastically since the virus.
Dr do you mean the MCV being over 99? As MCH is over range at around 32? My mcv is 100 and MCH 34. Scanning RUclips to see if macrocytic anemia can cause joint and muscle pain/fatigue and it seems so! Had macrocytic anemia for at least 7 years and Dr's never told me.
Mcv(mean cell volume) is the one that would be high with macrocytic anemia MCH(mean cell hemoglobin) is the amount of hemoglobin in the cell and would not affect size of the cell

Is it true some B12 shots contain aluminum? Thank-you
My B12 is 212 and I have weird sensations in my head as well as feet and hands. Can I have paresthesia in my head due to low b12? My MRI with contrast and CT Scan were normal.
Yes. B12 deficiency can contribute to the types of symptoms you are having.
