🥰🥰 I Loved me some "Fancy Nancy", "Guess Who I Saw Today, Save Your Love For Me", I used to sing All the time with My Mother!! Both parents "Loved Jazz, played always in the home!! Loved me some "Nancy Wilson" 🥰🥰R.I.P.!!!
Me too. Journalists of his caliber are practically extinct in mainstream entertainment news today. When you look at what passes for journalism in show business now it's absolutely shameful.
One of the great jazz vocalists of our time, and always the picture of sophistication. When you watch tv today featuring the current generation in the music industry, its shocking how rough and unpolished they are in comparison. I miss the days when talent, artistry, and grace ruled via entertainers of Nancy Wilson's caliber.
So very well said, and we agree with you 100%!! Somehow, eras change and not always for the best. So many of those of the current crowd seem so self-centered, the "ME" attitude rather than the giving attitude. Makes you wonder what changed it so adversely!
I loved her when I saw her on TV in the 60's and I have continued loving her. What a wonderful singer and powerful, gentle soul which generates wisdom and love.
Great interview. Loved that she was happy with her husband, The Right Reverend Wiley Burton. Loved her attitude about how artists should be treated..let them be creative she said. Rest well Ms.Fancy Nancy!!!
Ms. Nancy Wilson will "FOREVER" be my No.1 Song Stylist who Mastered her Craft, and I'm so Very Happy that Gd Almighty Blessed me with her Presence. Had the Privilege of Seeing and Hearing Nancy 3 Times, and the last time I watched her Perform, with my Big Sister and I who is probably listening to Nancy Wilson as they R both in "Heaven" @ "Peace"☁️☁️☁️ I love and miss them Both. P.S. Thanx Ms.Nancy Wilson and Vivian my Beautiful Big Sister who gave me my 1ST Nancy Wilson "Album" @ the ripe young age of 16, my Junior year in High School. ❤ still have that album N "Perfect Condition"..!! Nuff Said, Peace Out Abdul-rahman
With the talent she had and the notoriety as well, I don't know how Nancy remained the fabulous, sensitive and gracious lady she always was, but she did! We understand she was always lovely, not confrontational to work with like some, but always courteous in demanding the perfection she had for herself and got it willingly from those she worked with, the mark of a truly remarkable professional!
Great interview . . . what a classy lady . . . I was nine listening to Nancy when my aunt bought my sister her album for a Christmas gift and that was in 1969.
I've been to about 5 live venues featuring Nancy over te years. I left disappointed on most. Nevertheless, I still love her music, style and beauty. So damn beautiful. Time has changed all of us but that voice, sexyness and character will live on.
My oldest brother would let me listen to her albums when I was about 13 or 14yrs old, 50 years ago and I've loved Ms. Nancy ever since...Rest well in Jesus's arms Song Stylist!
@@EricBrownBey Because Nancy never sang any of the songs that I really like her doing. Like for instance, from the life love and harmony album "sunshine ". Heaven Bound! Your as right as rain, you made me so very happy. Come get to this etc.
Interesting she mentions that she had a strong sense of self even as a youngster. For years I have admired her for her singing of course, but also for her self confidence. Thanks for posting this!
When I think of a singer with sheer, ultimate class, Nancy Wilson always comes to mind. Look up the word class in the dictionary and her face is there. Always strove to present myself on stage just like that, classy with the capital C. Class is timeless.
She mentions in this interview that she's 53 which would make it from 1990. I'm off to listen to all your albums again today. Rest peacefully sweet Nancy.
I'd love to share this, but I can hardly hear it, even with my sound turned up. Please fix it......... I am so glad that Nancy got a chance to put it out there, where she got her real start, as an adult. Boston Rd., Bronx, NYC, "Blue Morocco" club. My friends & I, were there almost every weekend. Loved her then & still do.
Thank you for sharing your tremendous talents with the world. Your music has been has been a vital part of my life. I love you! May your soul reside with God always. 💖💖💖🙏🙏🙏💖💖💖
A wonderful singer ... a wonderful human being ... how fortunate we all are ... funny - I remember clearly Sid McCoy introducing Nancy on WCFL, 1000 on the am dial. I fell in love with her and "Guess Who I Saw Today, Mr. Dear." Terrific interview.
THe legendary songstress Nancy Wilson, the woman can sing 🤗 always stunning and beautifully dressed 👍 gives a good live show 👍 ...Miss you Queen ....R.I.P.
Cannonball Adderly and Nancy Wilson I can not hear this interview either however whenever she sang in the Village NY she sang jazz and ballards. You can help with my spelling.
My mother is a huge fan of Nancy Wilson. She has owned just about every lp she made, and we grew up listening to her in our household as kids. My mom is now 82. This evening my cuz and I played a few lps in my collection..We listened to "Now I am a Woman"lp.
That CANNONBALL ADDERLEY album with dear Nancy Wilson is ICONIC. That is some of THE BEST MUSIC ever!! I didn't know she was so young during that time. She is a STYLIST, much in the way Ahmad Jamal and Miles Davis were.it's interesting that Miles' wife Frances ran away from him to stay with Nancy at her home.
Compare her career with that of Billie Holiday...a world of difference between the two. Chauk it up to Ms. Wilson's wonderful support, encouragement, and being in the right place at the right time.....a TV show at the age of 15..AMAZING!!
Caught the Nancy jones in the middle 60s! Stopped somewhat in 70s and went back full force in 80s More classic jazz ! When are they releasing At My Best rare lp on CD? Good album Of course Nancy did Dinah Washington tribute medley on that
What year was this.. I saw her perform once, live - it was thrilling, so glad I went. She sounds like such a strong sensible lady who could do anything she put her mind to.
Nancy Wilson était une chanteuse de grand intelligence ainsi que de féminité amoureuse. Nancy, ayant la paix et la tranquillité éternelle en le bras pur de Dieu, l'Être Suprême. Luhvissimo!
Jocelyn Carter: My father loved this woman's music! One day, when I was young, he bought a Nancy Wilson album home. I 'll never forget it because that's when I fell in love with her voice! She was beautiful, classy, and smart.! God bless her and God has blessed us with a beautiful singer with a velvet voice! I knew, after hearing the album, that I too, like my daddy, love Nancy Wilson! RIP, my love, RIP!
A true ARTIST and a singers singer. So many of today's "singers" could learn a great deal from listening to Miss Nancy Wilson and watch how she conducts herself with such poise grace and glamour.
I know this is cliche - but damn, they just don't make human beings like this anymore... What a beautiful woman, inside and out. Not to mention, that voice!!! That sultry, sweet, sublime voice of an angel! Her album with Cannonball Adderly, is in my top 5 favorite female recordings of all time!
Love Nancy Wilson. Very classy lady. I am sad she is gone. There is one song I am searching for. I'm not good with lyrics, but I think some of the lyrics are, "If you know where you wanna go, and if you want me to go to, I'd be there if you want me to. I'll be good as I can be..." I'm pretty sure I just butchered a classical song by Nancy Wilson, but if someone can point me in the right direction that would be great. Can someone help me to find this song? Thank you.
@@50CCSHUN Bless you. But you know what? Just a couple of nights ago, I woke up and searched RUclips again and found the song! I was so surprised to have finally found it. Then I tried to search for my comment to provide and update. Thank you so much Shun for responding to my comment. Ms. Nancy Wilson and my high school music teacher were good friends. Both are great jazz singers. In fact my music teacher had a life sized poster signed by Nancy Wilson. None of my classmates knew of Nancy Wilson. They all were saying that the lady in the poster must be friends or a relative of the teacher. LOL. But I knew about Nancy Wilson and the teacher was pleasantly surprised.😎
Miss Wilson is not telling it like it is , she got her break on my aunts T.V show in Columbus Ohio The Madam Rose Brown Show, I have noticed through the years that she never mentions her roots in Columbus, I have even heard her say Cleveland as her home, Oh will perhaps she has her reasons.
Robert Stone She's been performing forever...maybe she got more than 1 break simultaneously...no slight to your aunt bur she'd be talking all day if she were to mention everyone.
You don't have to be talented anymore to put together bits and pieces of songs, and you can rely on digital editing and drum machines. Wow, that says it all, doesn't it? Consequently, there will be no more Nancy Wilsons, Aretha Franklins, Judy Garlands, Frank Sinatras, Tony Bennetts, Ella Fitzgeralds, Sarah Vaughans, Billie Hollidays, and all the others. It seems that only in live church music and live classical music does true talent live on in this day and age.
if this is the exact broadcast, BET went to great lengths to keep Ed Gordon's presence out of the interview. It even compromises the integrity of the interview.
