    I'm glad you were able to save it, you did a beautiful job, the blue gives a good contrast to the wood. It's gorgeous.

    Pity about that waterfall but all in all the paint across the middle made a nice contrast. Well done.

    What are you using to clean? Looks like Fabreze?

    I have a piece very similar to this that was my grandparents! Thank you for sharing this! It gives me the courage to try and clean mine up and refinish it!

    If I could I would give you a thousand likes just for the butter knife! Every person should have a butter knife at their tool bench.😊

    That is ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS!!!! Glad you all decided to show some of the Wood as "ORIGINAL"!!!!! And yes, Art Deco is known for using intricate Veneers; it is one of my FAVORITE STYLES!!!!

      Thank you so much! We love trying to preserve as much of the wood as possible and Art Deco is one of our favorites as well... we've got a few more pieces coming in the future!

      We agree, the natural wood on this one exceeding our expectations! A lot of work but worth it for a piece like this. Thanks for watching :)

    This is NOT a dresser, but a chest of drawers. A dresser is lower and wider. It often has a mirror attached or on the wall behind the piece. One can dress in front of it. Using the proper names for the furniture you are working on will help you communicate with prospective buyers.

    Where did you source the veneer sample pack you used to repair the drawer? I have some art deco furniture that are sentimental to me passed on to me from my great aunt's. I want to restore them, but they need some repair to veneer.
    I love what you did with this piece, gives me ideas on how to restore my pieces!

    Just curious. Are you cleaning with febreeze?

    • @beautyandthehandyman1099

      Of course not haha just an old bottle. We typically clean with a degreaser of some kind + rinse with water after.

    Could you have used some of the veneer you removed from the waterfall to patch the drawer?

  • @cferguson3368
    @cferguson3368 2 года назад

    Not sure of the condition of the veneer from second fall, but you can reuse veneer you've removed from other places if it is in good enough condition.

    Great work it came out gorgeous! However, I cannot understand why you would put those boring generic pulls that everyone uses that don’t match and add no value and take off the beautiful cast iron original hardware that actually are valuable and match the piece. Love it otherwise!

    • @beautyandthehandyman1099
      @beautyandthehandyman1099  2 года назад +1

      Thank you so much for watching & taking the time to comment! One big reason we didn't reuse the old hardware is that they weren't art deco and we were confused why they were put on an art deco piece in the first place? We shared the before photos of the piece in some antique/vintage groups and most of the comments were about how the original pulls were all wrong haha. So we felt it was fair game to change them. Had they been actual art deco, we wouldn't have switched them!

      You're right. The hardware was not original to the piece.

    No information on the kinds of cleaners, they’re using the grit of sandpaper they’re using no help whatsoever really
