  • On this project we’re building a set of stairs were probably over 50 steps down with a 25 to 32° slope hillside. Also took the excavator down the hillside to drive in the pilings.

wow, those have to be one expensive set of stairs. i would venture to say at least $100,000 dollars for that project.

Thanks for watching my channel Andrew, I believe it was a John Deere 35 or 50 and a larger Kabota on the hillside

Great risky hillside project. The drone flyover at the end is a nice touch. The landings at certain levels down the stairs, is that for code requirements, design improvements or posable resting place for older adults.

Hey Dave thanks for your comment and question. Yes there is a code requirement only so many steps before you have a landing and with all those steps you definitely need a rest trust me it wore us out !!! Good glute workout.

Do you have videos of projects further inland on navigable waterways. I live on a creek that varies from a few feet deep most of the year but can change quickly. Currently this creek is 35 feet deep and 160 feet wide flowing into the The Ohio River not to many mile away. There are times when water levels go to 51 feet and I must consider these changes in all past and future projects. I was lucky enough once again hire someone with first rate skills to improve a number of pathways, removed trees, repaired a lake and moved a number of 9000 pounds boulders just a few days ago. You just can't deal with very large rocks with a rental backhoe. Now I must work on getting views of nature even closer to the water than ever before and that will require ideas.

@@davemeeks8109 hey Dave no unfortunately we do not I have a big tied change, maybe 2 foot here so I will not be able to give any good advice on this for you. Sorry

Not a problem. I've learned a lot from your videos all ready. As with many future projects it is important to discover what is possible with specialists in that area of the trades. In my 35 years of construction I've never observed post being driven in the ground in that manner. I hope it's possible to ask you a number of questions that I believe you can answer. I viewed a product that you can wrap around your post to seal the wood from water decay. The product was like a sheet of rubber plastic that was over sized when wrapped all the way around. Then they used a large garden weed torch to melt the product directly to the post all the way around. Do you know of this post water sealing plastic and who might carry

@@davemeeks8109 I haven’t seen that product yet but if you watch the latest video I posted we do install a Piling wrap which is a thick plastic that is secured with nails. I would be interested in learning what you’re talking about as well.

I've built one of those in that same area about 20 yrs ago. It was pretty rough. We just used an inch and a half galvanized pipe with an ax head welded on as a root chopper and post holes to put em in. We only got em in 4'. What your doing there is definitely impressive.

So you understand the complication of this project and wear and tear on your calves LOL yeah we’ve got that exact same thing I think one of my foreman called it a whopper chopper it will wear you out!!!
