I’ve been wanting a seven string, I always thought that they’re better than 6 because of extra tunings, and better than 8 because 8 strings are a whole new territory
Henry Martino i use a seven string, but i just don’t like the sound of a string tuned lower than G. If it’s used correctly sure, but not for my music. I love drop D, so i use that, with a low A lol
Koffie Verslaafde A lot of the time drop E and such is used to make purely brutal songs that don’t really have much melody, chelsea grin does this sometimes. Personally though I really like writing in drop E and actually using all the strings lol
Right now im using Drop A, but honestly i lost a lot of songs that i perfectly played before but with the transpositions made some of them felt strange to play. Principally the ones who use a lot of "normal chords" and clean notes. I think i need to get a 7 string one to at least recover my higher notes from before (a lot of solos lost too because of that). Problem is i dont know where start to get a 7 string guitar, dont even know how to tune that to mantain my lower note in drop A like i use nowadays. Any tip?

I like modern metalcore a lot more than the late ‘90s-mid ‘00s core. The focus has shifted from shredding and speed to atmosphere and the power of a single note.
