Alien. “What is he named after”

Dogs are omnivores, so they could live without meat. They would probably need proteins supplements and while meat is a lot easier for us to feed them, you could go full vegan with the dogs. They would have the same problem as humans so would need to make sure they are getting enough protein and iron to exist, but it’s possible. Now if it was a cat, then you would have issues.

My favorite part of these stories is Amia's insatiable scientific curiosity driving them forward despite a powerful instinct to avoid danger.
Although in this story I'm kinda taken out of it by the mention of there still being factory farming of animals for meat back on Earth. The way I would have written it so a ranching planet makes sense in a high-tech future is, the Amia scientist in that part of the exposition around 21:58 says something along these lines instead:
"Of course they dont really kill animals for meat anymore back on Earth, except for some small-scale cultural practices among certain groups. They consider it cruel if done without necessity. Nowadays they grow brainless meat out of cells, like it's a plant, and consume that for the carnivorous part of their dietary preferences.
But there's only so much biomass you can get out of a planet without destroying its native wildlife, so they've established this planet as a farm world to supply Earth. And apparently grazing herbivores are a very efficient way of turning poor quality grasses into calories sutable for human consumption. Trying to grow and process edible plants here would require orders of magnitude more infrastructure and labor. And with the promise of easing the pressure on Earth's over-exploited habitats, few have had objections to this project."

Hella: "Ok Ok Ok. Got it. So if I wake up in my dog house next to a chicken... I can still hunt THAT chicken."

Humanity Fuck Yeah! is what it stands for. It is basically scifi (usually) stories where humans are awesome and great. That said this channel does do a lot of scifi that isn't humans are the best. The black ship is mostly about humans with some aliens around. Rick Writes does this type of story from the POV of an Avian sentient being.

  • @cjandauntieyaya1446

ACTUALLY, wolves domesticated themselves. They gravitated towards the free meals in the trash heaps of ancient human villages. Those who lacked the fear flight response stayed when the humans came to throw away their unwanted bones, guts, etc... and this lack of fear genetically bred down the line. Wolves that depended solely on human waste then developed smaller bodies because the lack of prime meat. Then the brain reduced because the trash wolves no longer needed to think about what herds were best to hunt as all their food came easy from humans. The muzzle became shorter and less strong as cooked bones and guts don't need as much bite strength as grabbing a struggling prey animal like an elk, etc... It only took 7 generations for the wolf to be reduced to the prototype of the domestic dog. We have evidence of this in the bones remains of wolves at those village trash sites. Didn't take long at all for wolves to become a human's best friend. Wild cats even less time.
