One of my favorite songs and I resonate a lot with your story. Somatic therapy is helping me a lot with releasing all that old stuff stored in my body. The memories are slowly coming back and it’s been really intense. The body always remembers. You are right, that shit gets burned into your nervous system. Talking about it does not cut it when it comes to post traumatic stress. Those are primal forces we are dealing with.

Forgiving a parent is something that's a journey. I've watched my wife go through it with her father, and it's been baby steps but they have added up to such a journey. Our pastor also had a massively abusive father and his forgiveness journey is amazing to listen to. Now he's got a ministry about helping men to be the best fathers. If you like this then you should listen to the Last Night (Korey is on backing) or anything else from Comatose.

Now a days Jen gets all the attention and no one really notices in the videos that Korey is on guitar and keyboard sometimes. And I don’t think many people know the older drummer (in this song) was also female. She doesn’t sing as much as Jen, but still did backups.
