Great vid and tones 👌 they sound a lot closer than I was expecting. You’ve saved me some cash! I have a 50w Helios and would be happy with a freidman too
Nice comparison.... The Friedman amps all seem to have that Mid forward sound....i can get used to it but when you switch back to the Bogner it sounds more rounded, to my ears more pleasing... appreciate the video
Great comparison video. Really shows the subtle differences. Depending on the riff I went back and forth on which I liked. In the end the Bogner mods are the difference….. but that is not always the better tone in my opinion. Yet sometimes it was. Great job and what an impressive studio.
Awesome! Saw this on the form of which I am not a member, which brought me here. First of all what a fantastic set up! Really cool demo… I’ll be checking out some of your other stuff. I like the Friedman better… Seems like a tighter bottom end And pleasing clarity. By the way, I had trouble at first, figuring out which amp was which, but one must focus on the switcher lights!
I was able to play a Helios here at No1 Hamburg about three weeks ago and now I have GAS. For me, 80s Mode sounded so perfect. The bass control was fully on, unfortunately I don't know how deep and presence were set... but the low mids were great and the Marshall scratch /bite was there without being scratchy and still assertive... cheers Dominik
NIce tones Very little difference really, the Bogner has a hint of that warm woolly mammoth, while the Friedman has a bit sharper teeth, but they are clearly the respective designer's take on one tone and I wouldn't be able to tell them apart in a mix. I'd pick the Bogner because the Helios (and Helios Eclipse) has heavier tones in it that go far beyond Plexi.
This made me appreciate my Helios a little more! Thanks for all the comparison videos with the PLEX. What’s your take on it at this point - does it have a place with all your other awesome M-style amps?
Watched a few of your vids now comparing the Plex to other amps. First of all, thanks. Second I feel like maybe you dialed in a tone on the Bogner first and then dialed the Plex to match as well as you could, correct? The reason I think this because while they both sound good I think the flex sounded better in the other vids where you compared it to the small box and the 20 watt Marshall. Maybe just my ears?
Good ears! You are correct. Helios at volume noon is really loud, has higher volts and no three band eq, but just the bright switch and the poweramp eq ( presence, deep).
32 mA per tube. B+ is 480V, so with that value idle dissipation of each EL34 is a bit higher than 60%. Wouldn‘t set it to 70% at this B+ with current EL34s.
Always show which amp you are playing. Your finger pointing is far too imprecise. It's hard to see through. Thanks for the comparison anyway. Great video. kind regards

Sounds fantastic. Thanks again, I enjoy watching your videos.

Great comparison. One sounded noticeably better than the other… I just have no idea which amp you were playing at the time.

Thank you so much for those Plex compairsions!

It was an eclipse, but the eclipse mode had way too much gain
I love that mode. Instant Sykes.

Helios FTW
Helios - Green, Plex - red for those not seeing the chapters

Thanks. Sure, will stay. Sounds nice, looks cool, nice PCB, keeps its value
Sounds great my friend, the Helios is the clear winner to my ears. Paige
The bogner has some crazy sag goin on. Similar to turning Bias X and Sag in the helix modelling software waaay up. Cool stuff.
Can you do a comparison of the Plex and the Marshall SV20H?
nice amp collection keep working on your video making skills & playing for good video content!
Plex sounding like a winner - Zep tones win for my ears
Very nice. Is this a mic'ed cab or a IR?
Mic‘ed old V30 in an isolation cab
Sounds amazing.....
Both sound lovely lizzy ❤
Looking into a Helios Eclipse and Goldfinger SL45. I'll go with the one that sounds best at lower volumes.

Jailbreak and The Boys r back in town!
A lot of Thin Lizzy vibe ❤
Nice comparisons! Both sound great and pretty similar. What's your favorite up to now?
Thanks. I love the Helios for the 70s/80s modes. Plex-wise not sure yet, will convert my JMP into one and then decide 😊
Still enjoying your videos. Can you tell me what your Helios is biased to? I’d really appreciate it.

@@duese888 Thank you very much.
Preferring the extra brightness of the Friedman in this case personally. What's the switch you're using?

Bogner seems to have more hair. could be an EQ thing

Starting with Helios.
