    Update:
    Colorful BattleAx seems to only have a 200W max power limit according to a viewer. Made a mistake there, so I would knock it down to the top of the C tier. (previously said beside the Ventus but it actually has a really good cooler so I think it deserves the top of C tier at least.)

Temperatures are fine I guess, use it for 1080p gaming and don't get above 70 degrees. I'm using a custom fan curve because out of the box they get very loud when going above 1800 RPM which is around 65 degrees. Only downside until now is that MSI Afterburner doesn't support them yet with fancurve 0 RPM mode, it now is 1000 RPM (30%) as lowest instead (still very silent). Overall I'm still happy with it, getting above 100 fps in most games. Coming from 1070 :)

      @MaxWarwick_ 2 года назад +1

      @@hcokiddtony I'd suggest looking into undervolting with a custom fan curve.
      I use the MSI Ventus 2X OCV1 in a small form factor case (NR200). It doesn't get loud at all, highest it ever gets in temp is 72c (usually more like 68-70).
      Your mileage may vary but I have a few undervolt/OC profiles ranging from: 1920mhz @ .875v to 2050mhz @ .950v. Memory stays overclocked at +800 in each profile.
      If you get decent silicon and know how to adjust, lower-end vs higher-end models can make little difference. My GPU ranked top 16% for 3060 TI benchmarks in TimeSpy.
      The main issues are 1) the default fan curves are stupidly aggressive. 2) at stock voltage the card can underclock if it's bouncing off the 200w limit. And so, undervolt and adjust fan curve does wonders.
      Sorry for the wall of text but hope maybe it helps lol.

    • @OTechnology
      @OTechnology  3 года назад +20

      If its really only a $20 difference then yes I'd get the Pro. The extra power limit at default is enough to make it able to hold max boost clocks and the extra power at max is a 40W difference which is huge for overclocking if you want to do that. Especially under high loads the MSI is way more quieter. 3dB difference mean HALF/DOUBLE the noise. If you want the most FPS get a Strix, if you want silence at the cost of 1-3 FPS (which in real life you won't notice at all) get the Gaming X Trio. I ordered one 4 weeks ago, but still waiting....

    Thanks for sharing the collective knowledge, you are doing a great job. I saw your video comparing many 3070s and figured out Colorful cards are great for their price. In India, I could snag a Colorful iGame Ultra at the cost of two fan models. I am proud of my decision now. Haven't manually overclocked it yet, but I will update here for anyone interested.

      @@OTechnology  I have overclocked my card manually. I set a custom fan-curve as X temp -> X+10 RPM. I didn't under volt it yet (I don't know about it). .
      My card was stable at:
      +140Mhz core clock,
      +900Mhz mem clock,
      Max Power draw was set to 108%, but most of the times it was 106% TDP. After 10 minutes of FurMark test, the card was at 74 degrees Celcius (28 degrees room temp) with fans RPM at 3000 and 2500 RPM respectively.
      Can I do something more to improve performance or temps?

      @@hunterblake8706 First you shouldn't use furmark. It only stressed your VRM and causes clock throttling so its useless for testing overclocks. But that's about it in terms of overclocking, don't need to undervolt if you're looking to get max performance.

    Have you given any thought about comparing the aftermarket cards of one gpu to another one? For example, some of these better aftermarket cards cost over $500, so at that point maybe it’s better to get the founders 3070, or a cheaper aftermarket 3070. I’d be interested to see what the best aftermarket cards at certain price points would be.

    I was considering the Ventus 2x OC variant due to its small form factor of which would fit inside my case with an AIO cooler, good looking design of which matches my build's aesthetic, and the use of the dual 8 pin connector instead of Nvidia's proprietary 12 pin connector (because I was going to use custom sleeved cables), but this video pushed me away from it. I would just go for the FE, but like I said, I wanted nice, custom cables, and the 12 pin adapter is far from nice
