Awesome! Cool to see another guitarist who's into the same music that I like. I was helping my dad clean out his garage today and I spotted something up on top of a piece of plywood up in the rafters, looked like a guitar amp. I got up on a stepladder to take a look, it was a Silvertone 1482 covered in a massive layer of dust. We been in that house for 20 years and never noticed it was there. It's missing the rectifier tube but I ordered one online and hopefully it will fire up.
Who needs video games, drugs, or, for that matter, women....when you can play guitar like that, you become the Master of your own reality....way to go Man ! A totally free spirit !
Great to see a young guy nailing down Link Wray, Clapton, Hendrix, Allman Bros., etc. You rock dude. Great combo that Jr. and Silvertone. Love my Juniors.
Nice demo! Today 2023 these amps can cost between $600- $900. I just scored one for $325/ including shipping. Killer amps. I have a dozen or so of 50’s 60’s tube amps. Danelectro, Gretsch, Supro, and Gibson.
Blues breakers, 'Machine Gun' some Link Wray and 'Crossroads' right on! I can name that tune! Fantastic tone. Don't ever let go of this gear! It's got THE sound!
I received one of these Sears/Silvertone 1482s last year for free. I re-capped and re-tubed it and it sounds amazing. I use a variac on mine to kick the voltage back to 117V since my line voltage is closer to 125V. Not a big difference on the primary side of the transformer, but big enough difference in plate voltage to cause problems/premature failures.
loved this video man, I've got the same amp as well taken from my grandpa's basement, I rarely use it but after seeing this I will have to put it in the arsenal
you remind me of a kid I knew in Gardena Ca. he and a few friends used to play in this wherehouse and I used to look out for them, his name is Jeff. thanks Kevin. by the way keep up the good work!!!!!!!
Awsome tone and taste - nice to see that the`re still some vintage Gibsons out there that are really played with passion by younger poeple and not only by old collector guys just hiding these fabulous instruments from the rest of the world instead of playing them live and sharing the nice tones with other people ;-) Really cool!
Great tasty licks and vintage tone!!! What else can I say. It has the original P90? Anyway, its refreshing to hear someone as young as you are with such a good ear for tone and taste and a sense of knowing what NOT to play. Great job!!!
This was the first amplifier I had at age 14 when I started to play electric.... So yeah, I'm aging myself, and could kick my own ass for not having the sense what it is worth today :) People crave this dynamite in the small package. 12 watts, and it was my perfect garage band amp... LOL
I’ve been gassing for that amp forever. Passed over one two years back at 150.00. Now they are between 500-600. The secret is out! I offer you 20.00 for yours. Think about it...400% profit for you!
People pay serious money for that kind of tone. Sounds right. Don't ever get rid of these or you will regret it, I know life gets complicated though, just some advice. I have a '71 1420 (5XL) amp that was given to me, but I had to do some work to it. It had been in a barn for years too. It has a punchy sound like nothing new I've heard.
$5.00? Not 500? Holy shit. Score if so...! I am the original a 1482 bought in 1968. My Dad bought it when I was 1 yr old. Just had it cleaned at a local shop - all original with the foot switch and original manual and sales receipt. They are worth a LOT more than $5.00 and/or $500. :)
Nice Earl's Court poster! Nice guitar and amp tone too:) Cjeck out my version of "Rain Song" that I posted as a video response to your clip...I used a '57 reissue Goldtop Les Paul and my 1482...

This is the best Silvertone demo I’ve seen on RUclips. Such great tone.

Nice demo. I think that was the best sounding Silvertone amp. Awsome guitar, old SGs rock.

Tone to die for!
Sounds killer. I'm getting one of those amps today.... pretty stoked
So great to hear someone into the older blues-based playing instead of the neck-tapping drivel that saturates RUclips/ nice touch and tone !!!###
Cool gear, great chops, fantastic taste!
this vid is 3 years old and I'm just now finding it. Awesome tone! Please post more, or links to your music elsewhere.

Camera shy is okay, really enjoyed the trip!
Well done!!!
Sounds badass, even through a room/camcorder.

Anyone know speaker used in this video cheers!

..... to crags list!
I was planning to buy one of this model sold for about $500, but changed my mind. lol
great tone. do you have a band I can listen to?
You don't need any other posters. The one you have about covers it.
About how loud would you say it is with the volume on 4? Too loud for a house or apartment?
pretty much every sivertone i ever heard was awful....this one sounds good...good combo with that guitar...congrats
You look like Gary Rossington!
Is that a Silvertone Amp-In-Case in the corner there?
we can't see the stringed star.
are u trying to hide its face?
is it loud enough for small club gigs?
whats the neck profile like on this sg?
It's a chunky round neck, I think C profile. Had one in my hands today, it's a very comfortable neck!
I went and checked craigslist after this haha
wait... was it broke when you bought it?
p9 PICK UP?
5$...
$5?!?
I think it's a celestion
I doubt it, probably the stock silvertone or later ones had a Jensen
Almost 6 years old & no one has told you to fix that typo. $5. HA. jk
I got cheated! Paid $20 for mine.
Man, you are my lost twin brother! Haha, check my video
