      Hello brother,
      I own a lenovo x1 carbon 2014 model. I shutdown it yesterday but its not turning on now. Its not showing beacon which is usually shown when it is plugged on for charging. Ive tried charging it for few hours but no response. Also, tried to reset it by the reset button at the back side of it inside a tiny hole.. Does re assembling it would resolve the issue?

    My answer to Jon Smjkal: if you wish to clone your existing drive to a new SSD, it is a bit of a hassle. Best thing to do is create an image backup of your existing Windows 10 drive. This will create a complete backup of your existing drive, which includes the operating system, user profile, drivers. The who lot. Then replace your hard disk to SSD. Use Recover method to recover the entire image file your created in to the SSD. There you have it. And btw, good idea for the poster to remove battery before taking out components. DEFINITELY.

    For anyone else needing to change the CMOS battery, it's underneath the system board - yes, some dickhead thought it was a good idea to put a part you need to replace when it runs out in a place that means you have to take all the ribbon cables and components out to get to it.

    • @im_sarge_bro4542
      @im_sarge_bro4542 2 года назад +1

      What? Did you not watch the video? The CMOS battery is right below the main lithium ion battery to the right (yellow circular object) which just requires 4 screws to remove.

    • @HillierScott
      @HillierScott 2 года назад

      @@im_sarge_bro4542 Must be different on my generation board then, because on mine its on the underneath side of the board, so you have to take it all out, flip it over and there's the battery, which is a stupid design. I got to it eventually but it was way harder than it should have been imo.

    • @jeremyshaw1

      Nope. If you don't order with WAN modem, you get two plastic spacers where the antennas go and no wiring. Unlike a lot of laptops, all of the antennas in this one are in the base, not the screen. You can actually see the black plastic spacers near/above the speakers (there are two of them).

    The internals look so cheap. For the price you'd expect there would be more but nope. Just a single cheap cooling fan with no aluminum casing. No ram upgradability. No SSD. Weak ass 57w battery for its size. Cheap ass green circuit board directly from the 80s. At least with an Asus you'd get dual fans and a terabyte SSD with a discrete graphic that can do just about everything. And it cost a whole lot less than this.
