- Not even a Year, and its discontinued, and prices are sky rocketing. my 2 cents on this fragrance which I reviewed before after the prices are going crazy, is it still worth it?

im sick of discontinuations, I miss the days when they didn't release so much but you could still count on your signature scent being around in 20 years. I think all brands in all markets are artificially trying to incite and capitalise off FOMO, but they're going to the well too many times and people like me are just checking out. I hate feeling like I have to buy everything RIGHT NOW from consoles to shows to watches to fragrances they want us panic buying everything
Great video Joy. Like many people, I enjoy collecting fragrances for fun (as well as personal use) and justify it by believing that at least some of them have modest investment potential to the point where overall within a collection of say 50 bottles, I will always be able to recover my money in 5-10 years time due to discontinuations and reformulations. What is your view on this and can you please do a video on it?

For me, it is worth it. LNDL is my signature casual nighttime fragrance. One of my loves. Hearing Bleu Electrique was discontinued without having smelled it, I immediately bought a off a reseller and have no regrets.

They could no longer source sufficient unicorn tears to maintain production. Understandable.
Rumor is that they're strongly considering returning to the Eau Electrique formulation under a new name,

Joy, this is what happens usually to discontinued or limited products that had high demand. At first they skyrocket in value because of high interest, then they settle down when more and more people want to get that piece of bread and people start being competitive. After that prices steadily rise as supply diminishes due to consumption and people who are very fond of the product will pay those prices or even higher than before. The best way to really go against this is to just buy something else. But people always want what they can’t have.

A lot says that Blue Electric doesn’t last long at all, I own LNDL new batch bottle and I’m happy with.
Markets where this fragrance is still available will probably see inventory start shrinking as resellers take notice and buy out places to flip. I have noticed one major retailer in my market place no longer lists the product online but have seen a bottle or two in stores still. The 60ml bottles still seem to be more available though at major places like Sephora.

No way would I pay Kilian prices for a YSL lower designer end fragrance (lower than their prive line of Tuxedo, Caban, etc)...people on the second hand market trying to sell a 60 ml bottle of this stuff for $200 USD have lost their minds! I just purchased a 50ml of Angel Share off the second hand market for $145 USD and a 50 ml of Apple Brandy for $175....much better deal and higher quality juice! Don't get me wrong I love YSL as a brand and own over 15 of their fragrances so I'm not ragging on the fragrance....ragging on those who think a person should pay such ridiculous prices for a juice that originally when for $85 USD upon release. Crazy!!!!

This is a very informative video and I do believe you touched on some good points especially the idea that they Yves Saint Laurent may rerelease the same item again in the future because of popular demand or restock of the formula.
Unfortunately, for North American customers many EU designer brands have been keeping the distribution of their products domestic while slowing consistency with shipping considerable quantities of their perfume releases to North america. This is all due to increased shipping prices, shipping regulations due to the pandemic, and short supply of formula stock that is available to create such perfumes as a result of the same delivery problems. The same thing has been happening to Chanel and Guerlain and now the prices for these items have only increased and have never returned to normal. I bought L'homme ideal extreme in peak pandemic in 2020 when it was going for $80 and since 2021 it is selling only on the grey market in North America for upwards of $120+ and climbing it is only the beginning of 2022. Dior Homme Parfum 100mL has not been released in the North America and is readily available in abundance in Europe for less than $200. But greedy grey market dealers have already overpriced the Dior Parfum release as $260+ and more which is only $40-80 less than the 75mL iteration and the prices are not forecasted to decrease at any point in the future...
Even though I do not have the item. I personally think in the meantime and foreseeable future this will remain on the price rise for those in North America since it is a hard to obtain item now.
I'm not sure if it's gone everywhere? Just the US seems to be gone. You can still buy it in Canada and other places from the store.
It’s a great fragrance definitely worth paying $100 ish more than that might push it but definitely a gem

Yes and no. It gets stronger if you spray it first and leave it 6 months. But after years, it goes down like everything in life.

ehhh, I missed out on it and I'm not really too broken up about it. If it ends up at FragranceBuy for a reasonable price I might pick it up otherwise I'll live.
I just bought this yesterday for retail price and came to know that this is discontinued from your video. It could be that it's out of the market due to supply chain issues for covid. There are rumours that some popular fragrances are discontinued as well but it doesn't make sense since they have been such popular releases from the brand. (fragrances like Spicebomb Extreme, Ultra Male etc.) This could be a case like that, otherwise it doesn't make sense discontinuing a fragrance right after one year of release. I've come to the realisation that this is not a great hobby afterall. If you love a fragrance it might not last long enough. Also, if your favourite fragrance happen to last long then there can be reformulations and newer batches won't last as long, the manufacturer does it shrewdly to sell newer flankers. Then your favourite fragrance might get discontinued altogether. Taking all this into account I've decided I'm going to stop my fragrance journey, it's just not worth it. I'm just going to buy if any of my favourite fragrances runs out from my collection. If it's available in the market then great otherwise I'm not going out of my way stocking up bottles. Being a fraghead is not a rewarding experience anymore, at least for me.
Your lucky to have a 100ml bottle of Blue Electrique.60ml was about all you could fing in the USA. Glad i was able to get a bottle. I really enjoy the scent. All i hear about is how weak the new formulation of La Nuit de L'homme is now. Older bottles are rediculous prices.
Got mine here as well straight from YSL when they had a flash sale when it came out. As you said only the 60ml was available at the time so the writing may have been on the wall from then....
It's difficult to find in the U.S. without the astronomical prices on EBAY.
If you’re missing the older batches of La Nuit Da L’Homme please try Trudi Bleu’s Marbella Nights. Extremely good stuff!! And that too half of what YSL asks for like around 45-50 USD. Love the video as always ❤️

Companies discontinue things because they didn't sell well, only collectors buy them. If it's discontinued then it must be shit so don't buy it at a higher price

why is there no real clone to LNDL ? the original has been around for more than a decade . Im surprised that none of the middle eastern powerhouse brands between afnan, armaf, or Rasasi brought out a Cardamom powerbomb .
Maybe now that Bleu Electrique is finally out of production, these guys may indeed come to fill in the demand of a Cardamom fragrance that is in high demand.
We have had 3 separate CDNIM in the last 3 years. Surely they have the resources to clone LNDL.
Dua and Alexrandia prices are basically retail price lol. So people have definitely cloned it and the formula is out there.
Just today went to two stores here in Bonn Germany, both have Bleu Electrique and on both sizes 100 ml and 60 ml. Took photos so I could report the actual prices: the 100 ml bottle for €72.99, and the 60 ml for €58.99. (One of the stores had the 100 ml for €98 though, even though same price for the 60ml. )
Most likely reason for discontinuation is that it´s not selling, I would bet the pandemic is probably not helping any new releases in general. Both stores had a few bottles of both sizes on display.
Even if the prices go up online later after some time, I'd think buying to plan to make a profit later makes little sense, unless into the retail business and doing it at bulk, but then there are also important risks involved. Does not seem safely sustainable or worth it in the long run. I'd say buy any "discontinued" fragrance if you really like it for yourself and/or if a collector, for your collection.
Btw they also have Prada l'Homme Intense, the 100 ml at slightly more than €100, so more expensive. But I believe that is its normal MSRP.
For the record, the stores were a Douglas, and Galerias Kaufhof.

Personally none LNDLs are worth getting, these days are so much better fragrances to choose from that are not only much Stronger and long lasting if you desire but also much more loved by girls/ladies and other people around you.
If you are dedicated to the line you might wanna still go on with LNDL but for the mass crowd its not worth getting at all its more wasted money than anything. I wished YSL had sweeter and darker fragrances for man something like Dior Homme Intense/Armani Code/ EA Stronger With You/Le Male Le Parfum to name a few.
I ordered a 100 ml bottle of bleu electrique the same day it got discontinued for £55 from my origines along with a 200 ml bottle of la nuit and am expecting them to arrive tomorrow.
Please give your thoughts about them much later.

that is too bad that this fragrance was discontinued back in November of this past year I picked up a new bottle from Macy's USA for $45 I wish I would have know that then would have bought a few bottles

As much as I want a bottle as a collector im conflicted. The original OG 2009-2013 is much sexier and better for dates. Bleu is a tad more playful and fresh not as sexy defeating the date purpose of it esp for nights. Might as well hunt down a 2009 for the same price! Cant for the life of me spend 200 for a scent dropped last year! Even if its the 100ml like no way- Foh! Invictus aqua is one thing as the 16 is OG. Bleu is not OG 2009 is. No something is off here- it will be back in production soon lol.

It's not worth imo, I have 5 bottles of la nuit og (new batches) which are very long lasting on my skin (over 10 hours in polish climate). The smell has more depth than Bleu electrique.
I paid 110 for a bottle, so I definitely overpaid.

It's a nice scent, but way overhyped, just as La Nuit was/is overhyped, both nice scents, but come on there are so many under the radar/overlooked 'nice' scents! YSL are always overpriced. L'Homme Ultime was a great one from YSL, to my nose.

It's just because L'Oréal discontinued it as well other than the brand itself. Honestly speaking I hate L'Oréal for their huge enormous activity of reformulation & discontinuation of fragrances. That's their fault🙄🙄 By the way, I've been hearing that people kept saying Womanity by Mugler is discontinued, hello peeps it is not discontinued at all, if u don't believe me go check the Mugler website its still there. I swear I hate those people who spreads false rumours around.
Here in Macedonia the fragrance stores are still full of blue electrique , and also Ultime and the 1st don’t have hype like USA for example, and the second is for years discontinued but we have him for normal prices.
Weard but true. Macedonia fragrance community it’s not satisfied of the performance and longevity of Blue Electrique. Yeah, it’s a nice scent, the price is 95€ for 100ml, but after lot of us try it, we see that it’s just 10% better then nowdays La Nuit, and performans are low then moderate. Y le parfume get far more hype then Blue Electrique. The people don’t buy even decants from it. Sorry blue electrique lovers but that’s reality!
Definitely not worth the eBay price. It's 99% the same as modern LNDL with a little bit better longevity. Can't believe I got it for $38 tho lol

You Can Buy YSL L'Nuit De L'Homme 2014 Clone By "Perfumologist" From Their "Projekt Alternative" Line. The Fragrance Is Called "Black Cardamom ".
I got mine on Macy's when it was $65! I got lucky!!!
