Thanks for the look back here....... I lived within walking distance from Sandhaven beach as a kid way back last century in the early 50's.......having flashbacks galore now...........
It's quite disorientating to see New Zealand native flora like Harakeke (Flax) and Tī Kōuka (Cabbage tree) on a walk like this, but they seem to be doing well down on Sea Road. Awesome!
I think you should have visited Marsden beach also. There is the Roman wall on the south side of Camel's Island which is uncovered at low tide along with rock pools full of life, and a great beach for the kids. As for adults, you have on of the most unique pub/restaurants in the world 'The Grotto' which is accessible by either the lift, or the steps, which looks onto Marsden Rock which is a bird sanctuary. There are two more means of access one is Camel's Island the other one is the steps between Camel's Island and The Grotto. Here's a 1967 look before the arch collapsed on Marsden Rock in 1996. ruclips.net/video/tMxCGSnB0XY/видео.html
