  • It's a question I get asked from time to time, so I thought would put the answer as a video - in this part we look at Office Applications and Inter Applications.... This isn't a tutorial, more a suggestion and showcase :-)
    Apologies for my rather flat voice, I was trying not to wake up the house having recording this very late at night... :-)

    I use NomadBSD installed on SSD. I iuse the same tools that i used when i was a Linux user (i.e. since march 2021), bur with FreeBSD i back to terminal's tool like ranger as file manager, htop as system monitor, elinks as text web browser to test the usability of web pages that i make for my website. To test web pages and to surf internet i use also Surf, a minimal and lightweight web browser. Duf as usage disk utility and so on.
    Thank to FreeBSD world i known Sayonara that is my preferred music player, instead Clementine.
    To project and write my webpage i use Bluefish and Tidy to manage html and CSS coding. Iused them also in my 16 years of Linux experience.
    Telegram desktop for my Group.
    So, with Free/Nomad/BSD i can make all things that i have made with Linux. About Windows i abbandoned it in 2003.
    I'm so happy to be a FreeBSD fan.
    Thanks a lot.

    My music player of choice is DeadBeef. It's a GUI player that's light, simple, and highly customizable. I use Evolution as my e-mail client because web mail is slow and often has ADs.

    • @RoboNuggie
      @RoboNuggie  3 года назад

      Deadbeef is a really good choice, plenty of plugins if I remember correctly.... I;ll have to have a look.... and evolution is often overlooked these days, but as you say it stops those ADs which is a terrible thing in an email session...
      Thank you R.... :-)

    i really like the part where you're reading the script as 'you are' writing it xD
    You can do whatever you want on *BSD, for as long as you are willing to compile stuff when it isnt in the repos. I'm not too far away from switching over to netbsd

    I am finding difficult to make sound output in my laptop Lenovo Legion i5 8300H with GTX 1050 4GB and RAM 8GB installing direct in my SSD,
    But when installing in Virtual Box with same laptop the sound output is working, but the name driver is different, in Virtual Box is shows Intel CH but in direct instalation shows Intel ALC

      It's sometime tricks you, i hope this works for you
      1. Try check by command "dmesg | grep pcm" and "dmesg | grep snd"
      2. Try follow instructions in "FreeBSD Handbook Chapter 7. Multimedia"
      3. If you still confused, try install "desktop-installer" in pkg and follow instructions (robonuggie has video about it)
      That's it i was remember and i forgot what i'm doing before when try fix audio, hope you enjoyed! :)

      Xfce can be annoying try to install the old versions of gnome then follow a gnome tutorial save the configs delete that version of gnome and install the latest version it should set it self up on its own from there and make sure you have the correct monitor driver's

    • @Kyo-lm2pj
      @Kyo-lm2pj 3 года назад

      True but 90% of the apps support it so we're just going to have to deal with it for now, last month Microsoft took ownership of BSD we should start seeing more people with this and more apps ❤️
