To be honest, FreeBSD left more positive emotions more than Linux for me

I would recommend the Olive video editor to those who felt disappointed with Kdenlive's performance. It's a little behind in effects in comparison and the older, more well-polished and no longer maintained version has janky selection. I love it because it's orders of magnitude faster than any other FOSS video editor I've used by far (probably due to it using completely different media toolkits) and it has proper GPU-acceleration. Version 0.2 has had some memory leakage issues with large videos in the past, but progress is definitely being made.

A lot of us (especially unguided new) Linux users mistakenly use point-release repos and then frankenstein our updates with up-to-date user repos. On top of that, Kdenlive is often recommended to all sorts of people, even beginners, hence the large amount of crashing complaints. I bet FreeBSD sticks with the more well-recieved revisions rather than being up to date as much as possible.

On the software side you have mypaint, krita, and other drawing/animation/modeling programs which is great but What about drawing tablets? are they supported at all? my wacom doesn't seems to be recognized at all but I'm curious about other brands too like xp pen or huion for example. Do you have some info about that topic?

It has a somewhat steeper learning curve but you can also edit video's in Blender :)

Yes! I'd forgotten that, and yes, you are right, it is a steeper curve :-)

I don't know if recent versions of Blender have optimized the heavy RAM consumption Blender's video editor had. I remember editing 720p and 1080p, 1-2 minute video and it used up all of my (at the time) 16GB of RAM and in turn, performed poorly in non-cached video sections.

If you are focused on work, Freebsd can work for you. Unfortunately, there is no chrome or edge browser for it. There is no netflix, etc. There may be workarounds, but they are not easy to implement.

    Hello Robo
I have my new PC running on free bsd with plasma DE. One question the PC takes a long time to boot. Any suggestions. When in plasma it is great.

      Hi Leigh!
Glad to hear you have it running.... when you say a long time, how long?
I ask because FreeBSD isn't the fastest at booting....
Is it hanging at disk mounting or network init?
Also have you altered the default countdown at the menu log in at the beginning?

Hi well I checked the boot/loader.conf and the etc/ rc.conf file so I decided to use beadm and start again with icewm.
Just have to do the .xsession after a reboot.
With KDE too many additions to both files.
I have a new graphics card coming. This will change the setup.
