Andreas was a profoundly talented actor. G'kar was my favorite character from Babylon 5 because of Andreas's performance. His speech around the ten minute mark was so profound and touching. I've loved everything I've ever seen of Andreas's work.
It's hard to listen to so many goodbyes from so many people who have gone. G'Kar, Franklin, Garibaldi, Delenn, Zack, Vir, Sinclair... All those wonderful performers who created those characters for us, gone now. But G'Kar was right. They left something beautiful behind and their voices still echo, and always will.
The most difficult thing about these last few episodes of B5 is that unlike other shows that usually wanted to continue but were canceled, so they hastily made an end, JMS knew for sure this was going to be the last season of B5 and the last episodes of B5. So he made sure we got a proper goodbye with every one of our cast members and characters. But what makes it hard as well is seeing so many of these people and realizing that some of them are already beyond the rim. But they will always be with us in memory of this show. The journey each of these characters has gone through, going back to season 1 and seeing where it all began... B5 is magnificent.
Oh, yes The 3 last episodes of B5 are the most emotional in anything I have seen. G'Kar' speech about leaving, and leaving echoes is some of the most beautiful I have seen. I know I am not alone, I have used that speech when I left a place that meant a lot to me. Till next time, be seeing you!
I always find it impossible to make it through the last episodes of B5 without a copious amount of tears. I can't even think about them without crying.
9:45 Man, G'Kar's speech really is so beautiful. Whenever I left a place where I spent a lot of time and that meant a lot to me (school, university, a job) this speech played in my mind every single time. ;_;
Before I ever saw it I said that, because I traveled from place to place, that a piece of my heart stayed there, and a piece of that place replaced it. Until I couldn't separate myself from the places I had been and the people that I had loved. There's a quote from Forever Knight: "Dreams are portable. I carry mine with me."
If this episode brought you to tears you will cry the entire way through the final episode. Even after all these years & the multiple times i've seen it there are parts that still get me every single time.
Can't believe we're just about done with your B5 journey - it's been an absolute blast! I was surprised too when the goodbyes started in this episode.... and they hit HARD!: I don't think any show I've watched - Sci-fi or otherwise - said goodbye and ended as beautifully & emotionally as B5 does - a real tribute to the writing of JMS & the superb & heartfelt performance given by the cast (I mean they were genuinely saying goodbye to B5 & each other!). Promise the tears will continue, especially the final episode!
I have never cried so much watching any series as much as B5 (OK maybe I cried more watching "Anohana: The Flower We Saw That Day" - but that tears you to pieces in a different way). B5 is by far my favourite SciFi series of all time. The CGI+FX are a bit dated now but who cares. The story arc is outstanding. The acting is fabulous. You really feel happiness and suffer with all the characters in a way no other SciFi series can. They matter to you. My favourite character is Delenn (Mira Furlan is sorely missed) and I wish they had shown more of her back story - even the little bit where she got lost in the temple as a child. I liked all the characters.
Ah, Medusa. Such a beautiful soul. Since the beginning of your reaction. As with any watch, or rewatch, of this series, to see someone else experience it all for the first time is beautifully bittersweet. As is the show itself many times. Beautifully bittersweet.
G'Kar is such a great character with an amazing character arc. At the beginning he's so blinded by his hatred, especially of the Centauri, but overtime he learns many valuable lessons that soften his heart and make him abandon his hate to help him become a much better person.
You mention wanting a goodbye scene for Delenn and G'Kar even though it might have wrecked you. But I believe we did get one already. It's when she said goodbye to him as he left to be with Londo on Centauri Prime a few episodes back.
The day I saw Gkar’s farewell to Sheridan way back when it first aired, I knew that I will have that read at my funeral…outstanding writing with an as always stellar performance by Andreas 😢😢😢
Every time you thought Babylon 5 could no longer blind side you it does. Even towards the end. It's impossible to do so, but be prepared. And again, we see the difference to other shows. If we are lucky, they end with a conclusion of the story. Babylon 5 ends with the conclusion not just to a story that essentially began during the last Shadow War 1,000 years ago, but also with the conclusions of the individual stories of the characters involved.
Andreas was one of the best actors i've come across in my early journey into science fiction series, my first internet name was actually G`kar, RIP Andreas
Wow. This has been quite a journey watching your reactions to B5...now we are almost at the end. These last three episodes are tough to get through without some teary eyes. Let me just say thank you for inviting us on this journey with you, it has been like watching it through new eyes.
Oh man.... this reaction channel is going to hit a peak soon. I might make a watch party out of the final episode reaction. It is the best tv show final episode I have ever seen.
Even though we've seen how strong your emotions are, I was still surprised to how intensely you reacted to this episode. There are so many good, lines and scenes between characters. A lot of this is down to great writing but each character has their own way of speaking. The way each actor found a voice for their character and their voices guided the writers.
I loved Lyta's "Interrogation", He is actually fighting me, He's been trained in countering probes, Singing songs, doing Maths, you forgot to carry the 7, thats better !, and the ending......., Nighty night !.
I have loved watching your reactions to all these episodes, I can’t believe we are nearly at the end. Your reaction was almost exactly the same as mine. I am both looking forward to the last two but also sad we are nearly at the end of the road. For now thank you.
It's great to see you tear up during the more emotional episodes. I have watched B5 from the beginning when it first aired in the UK and have never gone too long without a view. To this day, I cry my eyes out and always get emotional especially when G'kar or Londo make those great lines speak to me. You've done an outstanding job reviewing the greatest sci-fi drama ever, well done.
A reoccurring line that keeps popping in my head when watching your reactions. "Oh you poor, poor girl..." Is there a betting pool on how long into the last episode before Melissa breaks? 2 minutes? 5 minutes? 10 minutes? :D
These last few episodes aired at the end of my last year in college. The feeling of everything coming to an end, and everyone going their separate ways hit pretty hard. To this day, I have a hard time watching them.
same with me but for high school. and it being May time when we would go our separate ways the next month in Juune. Many people i havent seen since those days
I have G'Kar's 'when we leave a place' speech printed out and framed above my PC. One of the best scenes of TV ever written, and flawlessly delivered by Andreas Katsulas.
So close to the end right after the animated movie has been announced. You couldn't have timed that better. 😆😆😆😆😆 I hope you are prepared for the end. 😲👍
G'Kar is who I think of when someone speaks about character development. Without Andreas' beautiful performances, my childhood would have missed something.
G'kar always has the most profound speeches - but his scene with John is one of the best of the series. And the Michael and John goodbye scene is just so shot through with emotion. We are getting to the end here with two more - I won't say they are easy - so many times, amazing things can be tough. And both these last episodes have amazing scene in them. The series finale is right up there for me in my top five finales of all time. (And my eyes are never dry when it is over)
I got the impression that G'kar and Lita didn't strike a DNA deal. It appeared to me that is what she thought he wanted, but he intimated that he no longer cared.
Good Episode and Very Good Heartfelt Reactions. The last time I saw you with those emotions and tears was when we were in a Restaurant and the Waiter said they had run out of Haggis.
Just think about three things and try not to cry. The childhood of G'kar The childhood of Lyta The fact that the both of them are on a journey of healing together.
I've always had a hard time with this episode, as things start winding down and JMS starts wrapping up individual storylines. I never want the ride to end. Which is why over the last decade I always come back to the show every 12-18 months. I can't go too long without it. Oddly, after the DVD's first came out in the early 2000's, I went about 6 years or so without watching. It was really hard back then to let go, and I just went cold turkey for a while and focused on other shows. But once I showed B5 to my daughter a decade or so ago I found myself coming back when we lost people like Jerry and Mira. The news of the passing of these people would just fill me with a need to see them again. Now I'm getting sucked back in because of the new #B5AnimatedMovie! It's always something...
Your connection to these characters is only a couple of years old. Imagine how hard it was for those of us that there in the beginning, and followed over the whole five years. For what ever recording you have left, stock up on Kleenex.
10:36 I'd bet good money that Lyta ditches G'kar at the first opportunity. I don't think in her present state she's interested in an introspective journey around the galaxy when she's trying to lead a revolution against PsiCorps.
@@cpmf2112 Except she made the first move by triggering Z'ha'dum's destruction without discussing it with Sheridan. Yes, you could see the slow car crash that was Lyta's life playout from the time the new Vorlon ambassador arrived but she wasn't an innocent martyr.

Totally agree
Agreed 👍
And don't forget two or three boxes of facial tissues for the finale!
G’Kar has so many great speeches, but this one always hits me hard. Get the tissues ready for what’s coming
The fact that so many of these actors saying goodbye are dead now makes it hurt a little more.
and G`Kar`s words with Sheridan about the part that is leaving ... was used by my son at his mother`s funeral. so moving.
G'Kar's speech rocked me to my core
To paraphrase G'Kar's speech about part of him remaining,
"I will always be here."
