If you are on a gaming laptop, set up msi afterburner to show your gpu and cpu temperature, and your FPS. If your CPU temp goes above 80 C, I recommend getting throttlestop to undervolt your CPU. It increased performance and got my temps down below 80. Also a cooling pad and proper ventilation helps a little. Throttlestop was the single biggest change that increased my performance across the board.
holy smokes. i pretty much had the registry tweaks and disabled steam overlay... but now with the rest exactly like in your video finally have a very smooth experience on my laptop (1060 mobile and an undervolted 8th gen i7 @3.4ghz) the usual crashes here and there every few hours will hopefully get patched soon.

Should've mentioned to turn off EAC (or trying to delete and reinstall it) for people with weird performance issues. For some it still causes a heavy performance loss(10-20%) and weird slowdowns from time to time.

Thanks for this, kudos to you Been playing this game on a 1060 3 GB and 8 GB RAM, this has helped reduce the occasional stutter that I usually get when playing (worse in Leyndell specifically for some reason) Actually no, pretty much made it non existent lmao. Game still looks damn good on lowest settings on all
Did all of that and nothing fixed the stutters/frame drops. Im on a 8700k 16gb, RTX2070 and CPU load barely goes over 30%, GPU ~40-50% but there are non-stop freezing moments during fights and regular gameplay. Plenty of free ram and vram. No background programs running. Game is installed on a 970evoplus. The game has serious performance issues that really needs to be fixed by the developers.
Yeah, i totally agree! They really have to sort the performance out! Sorry it didn’t help, might be a silly question but did you try and re-install the game and drivers?
@@FreddtorOfficial Yes, both. Installed the game again and updated to the latest nvidia drivers. I have the strange feeling the issue is based on the way how dx12 handles the shader cache. Ive seen similar stuff in other dx12 games... specifically a dx11 game which ran fine until it was updated to support dx12. With that these kinds of problems started on that other game. DX12 wants to build the shader cache on the fly while DX11 did build it once when loading the game for the first time (which took multiple minutes sometimes but then didnt have to be done again in the middle of the game). DX12 on the other hand seems to compile the shader cache in the middle of the game and for some games keeps doing that over and over again for the same assets.
yea f*cking disable all my background apps that i need, clear the shader cache that does NOTHING, yea TURN ON damn game-mode in windows 10 that does nothing TOO, yea turn on that "hardware acceleration" that does NOTHING TOO, oh yeah and the power plan! bullshit

I have a RTX 2060 6GB, 16GB RAM and a Intel I5 10400F and run the game on an SSD, but I am having a lot of lagspike/stuttering sometimes and my game runs around 30-58 frames in open areas and 50-60 in closed areas(inside dungeons etc) but I am really having trouble figuring out which part of my hardware is responsible for the low performance... could it be that the game needs more RAM or a better CPU(even though my CPU is being used only 30-80%) or could it need a better GPU even thoigh it is only being used 50-80% and it is better than the recommended 1070 8GB) I really don't know how to fix it.
Hmm id certainly say with a 2060 you really shouldnt be having issues tbh! in fairness we’re all having frame drops issues as its an issue within the game and we’re all waiting for the devs to release patches to sort it out but it should still be playable mate, give the guide a go and see if it helps anything

Throttlestop was the single biggest change that increased my performance across the board.
What GPU/CPU do you have? And what fps
Will it work on amd cpu's I don't think so
Youre simply the best. I really was worried.
🤣 thank you!! Glad it was able to help
Thank you for the guide. After these changes the game run smoothly.
holy smokes. i pretty much had the registry tweaks and disabled steam overlay... but now with the rest exactly like in your video finally have a very smooth experience on my laptop (1060 mobile and an undervolted 8th gen i7 @3.4ghz) the usual crashes here and there every few hours will hopefully get patched soon.
Thats awesome 😊
@@FreddtorOfficial i need to add that i had shader cache sized turned to off to get that performance. set to unlimited it stutters
I love you
The best tutorial ever
❤❤❤😜
Does anyone know why I can't switch to High-performance NVIDIA processor? everytime I switch, It goes back to Integrated graphics. This has never happened to me before on my NVIDIA Control Panel.
This might sound trivial but still, Ensure you click apply once you make the change!
Should've mentioned to turn off EAC (or trying to delete and reinstall it) for people with weird performance issues.
For some it still causes a heavy performance loss(10-20%) and weird slowdowns from time to time.
Help, After following some of your steps, the game now completely in black screen from the starting menu & all, despite run normally with sounds & mouse movement show up.
Weird! If thats the case then reinstall the game
Thanks for this, kudos to you
Been playing this game on a 1060 3 GB and 8 GB RAM, this has helped reduce the occasional stutter that I usually get when playing (worse in Leyndell specifically for some reason)
Actually no, pretty much made it non existent lmao. Game still looks damn good on lowest settings on all
this guide fixed all of my frame issues, thank you
dang its the first ever review ever regardless of gaming. Simply too good to be just for one game. You should do it over for other games as well!
Oh i already do 👍
@@FreddtorOfficial subbed! Wanna see more elden ring content
@@zane19970109 Yep! working on it 💪
im homna be homest i didnt expect this to work but i was at 20 fps now at 60 wtf youre a wizard actually tyy
🤣🤣🤣 love your honesty
Very glad it worked bud 👍
Started looking for ways to fix fps after I noticed fps issues in stormveil and now the latest update kicking me for fps issues
DX12 on the other hand seems to compile the shader cache in the middle of the game and for some games keeps doing that over and over again for the same assets.
yea f*cking disable all my background apps that i need, clear the shader cache that does NOTHING, yea TURN ON damn game-mode in windows 10 that does nothing TOO, yea turn on that "hardware acceleration" that does NOTHING TOO, oh yeah and the power plan! bullshit
I have a cpu that doesn’t meet the min requirements for this game, a ryzen 3750H. In the open world I can almost never get to 40+ FPS, it usually is always in the 30s. Will these settings improve weak cpu performance at all or am I just screwed?
Doesnt hurt to try my friend 🤷♂️
i went to follow this guide and saw that i had 71.7 gb of random stuff in my temp folder, what is life 💀
This video really helped thank you
From 20fps to 52fps, you're a lifesaver bro ❤
thx bro my game soo much better than before thx alot
From 30fps to the high 40s sometimes even 60fps. Elden Ring is now playabel at 1080p and low settings. Thank you very much!
Im gaming on a XMG Core 14.
I7 1165G7
16gb DDr4
GTX 1650 4GB
4:00 why cant i find in my windows the Graphics settings?
Dude! It's actually helped me! Thank's u very much!
What's your game version?
the folders in the %appdata% part are not transparent. Even when i do the view thing 🤔
can also maxed out everything but turn off SSAO. looks pretty and better performance for some low end pc. I'm running Gtx 1070 with Ryzen 5 3600.
Hmm id certainly say with a 2060 you really shouldnt be having issues tbh! in fairness we’re all having frame drops issues as its an issue within the game and we’re all waiting for the devs to release patches to sort it out but it should still be playable mate, give the guide a go and see if it helps anything
i have randeon rx 460 nitro 4 giga in 1080 and textures and a few other to maximum sets and high most in elden ring and i get 44 fps and more 50 in some areas but i have ryzen 5 5600 and also 16 g ram in 3200,so why you with better gpu you have worst than my rx i cant understand it.did you tried all those settings above the video saying?make a profile also for your game to overclock to the health extend this card can handle and give.at list amd drivers give you different profiles for games to set, when you start the game the overclock to take place.i guess you know that and nvidia does this also of what i can think of,try all things and then also try to defrag with defragler-piriform or o&o defrag on your harddrives and not other defrag softwares, only those two making a good noticable defrag but not overdoing it and then if you have samsung ssd you must have rapid mode enabled if you have it,makes a very good at games.or simply change what version of windows you have and wipe the drive and start a fresh new beggining and disable all starting with computer apps and dont overload the drives.other than that i cant help you any else to think of...but im wondering why?
do these changes affect the GPU/CPU by making it run overpower or else ?
Tried this and I don't know what the hell happened but now I'm suffering micro stuttering in every single game I have and it's driving me nuts and I just haven't been able to fix it man.
Even tried resetting everything and now I'm at a loss.
Thank you sir, you saved my life!
thanks for this guide
Since elden ring kept crashing my pc I tried a whole bunch of these videos. I cleaned dust out of my pc and then it started working but crashed again so I went to another channel and he told on optimization for amd stuff and he made my pc get blue screen? Would you please help me? He won't respond to my comments but your tech smart.
Oh damn man im sorry to hear that 😔 without physically checking your pc it would be very difficult to help
As soon as you turn it on does it go blue screen? or can you get to your desktop?
@@FreddtorOfficial its been turning off as soon as I turn it on and get to boot up it turns right off
