Glad I watched this video. I changed the left HID bulb in a 2004 TL years ago and forgot about the agony of getting that #20 Torx screw out of the black cap. What a pain getting that out from the wheel well. That darn screw is not just a Torx, but a tamper-proof Torx, so the bit has to have a hollow tip. Really Acura, that screw is a theft hazard? That lock screw is now taped to the back of the plastic cap with duct tape so that the next victim of a failed HID lamp will not have to deal with it. I put a slice of duct tape over the tab where the screw is and positioned the tape so that if that cap tries to rotate (not likely) it will have to push through about an inch of duct tape. The fog lamps are accessible from the engine bay and remove the battery for accessing the driver's side fog lamp. Get LED lamps for the 9006 at least 6000 lumens per side. Makes a big difference. The 7443 turn signal/parking lamp has an LED equivalent too. Makes a huge difference in having your turn signals more visible. Don't waste money converting the HIDs to LED. Too much involved and you will have to remove the headlight assembly like the host did in this video.
Nice to see someone who actually gets it. Literally everything on this chassis is a fight except the power steering res. The design architecture is laughable & the polar opposite of logic. Every job on this car including most all general maintenance takes 100% longer than on my Benz, because Mercedes engineers (in the past) actually employed logic into the design & placement of every serviceable item. I'll never own a fwd, transverse engine car ever again. Worst layout ever.
@RothBeyondTheGrave you're just not mechanically inclined. What have you even done? A oil change???? Lmao seriously it's not that bad, coming from a 06 tl
@geraldwilkinson4287 you have to work on more cars. TL is ridiculous. Granted it's designed the way it is to be a compact sedan. Overall working on anything aside from suspension is a pain
20 yrs out from the 1st model yr & the internet still doesn't know that '04-'06 & '07-'08 are different cars. For anyone not in the know, if you see an ignorantly labeled, "04-08" TL video, it actually only applies to "04-06", especially if it's for lights or engine/transmission mounts.
Im having the same issue with the bulb not turning on. The fuse in the middle isn’t connected , is it supposed to? Or can it be another issue my bulb isn’t working?
@@Leek_ee yeah man, lots to do on mine. Gotta fix my cat, battery drain issue(not hands free link) my sideskirts are broken, isn’t the clips. And other small stuff. But feels good to have a 6speed at the end of the day
@@Leek_ee I had pre clean 2006 6peed. Couldn’t let the opportunity pass by on the type s. Definitely a hard fine now days. But most have been pre abused
😂😂😂😂😂 all that when you could just take your “plastic guard cover” off and turn your wheels to get to your light bulbs 🤦♂️ but some likes to work harder, I guess

My god yo. This car is so terribly designed when it comes to maintaining. Gotta remove everything for something
Making me think twice about getting an Acura

Bro that’s a bad ass tl I appreciate the video I’m about to go change my headlights on my 04 tl
Very time consuming. Wished it was easier to change
What type headlights are these
How are you putting the 9006 bulbs in the 3rd gen TLs? I thought they only take 9005
What splitter is under the aspec lip
Can you send the link for fog lights or the bulb size do I just search 9006 ?

How can you tell if the bulb is bad, and it's not the ballast? Are there visual signs the bulb is burnt out?
If they stop working and check if the bulb it burnt. That’s mainly it. If it’s not burnt or anything, check the connection.
Do you have to remove the bumper?
Sadly yes
@@Leek_ee thanks bro...I have 06 TL and I’m trying to change the headlights.
This is the textbook method but not necessary if you don’t mind getting your hands scuffed up can get it in engine bay.
what did you do for the chrome delete on your grill?
I paint matched it or you can wrap and plasti dip it
@@Leek_ee did you paint match it yourself? it looks clean
@@danmiyagii the one that is attach to the hold is paint matched when I got the car repainted.
The grills on the bumper were plasti dipped
Where did you get the front spoiler lip??
2011 Wrx sti front lip
Thanks bro 🤙
thank you for the video first one to show you how to get it out
does a TL need a clip on the headlight?
Yes
Im having the same issue with the bulb not turning on. The fuse in the middle isn’t connected , is it supposed to? Or can it be another issue my bulb isn’t working?
I had to replace the ballast and igniter and works great for me now
@@01Psyc I did the exact same thing, installed a new igniter & bulb & within a week or two it blew out again. I must have a short somewhere.
I don’t have an intake box just cold air intake😂. I was so close on going to auto parts for the HID until you said they are 100 bucks.💀
How you get both bulbs to turn on a headlights
Should be the the second rotational switch
Bro took the whole front end off to change a bulb .😂
keep up the good vids. gotta change my fogs on my type s..

Dude I feel like you're always removing your front Bumper lol
At this point, the front bumper should come off
if you spent that much on HID that’s ridiculous. $40 on amazon. had them for 4 years no issues and very bright
I wish I knew 😤😤
Are those lights legal bruh
Yessir! 👌👌
Ima get them
This process is unnecessary 😒
