I will always remember this audition. When I heard it sung by him I cried. I had lost my mom and felt so lost. But this audition helped me to let go of a lot pain. So thank you Josh for doing this audition.

I have seen this before, but never knew why Simon was so emotional. I am so sorry for his loss.

Brilliant song choice, brilliant voice, BRILLIANT attitude. Humble, gracious and full of love. Then there’s Raign, brilliant song, brilliant voice, BAD ATTITUDE. You don’t tell a judging panel of four that only Simons opinion matters.

So good. When you got people tearing up, you know you got something.
To be fair it seemed fairly easy to make Cheryl cry, not because she was a faker but where she’s too soft hearted for her own good.
Simon though, even in the midst of his own personal tragedy, you somehow expect him to remain stoic at all times. There is a heart in there after all. Deep down but it’s there.

Nice touch at 4:54 where Cheryl glances at Simon and immediately realises he needs more time to compose himself, so she tactfully goes first to let him gather his thoughts.
Say what you want about her as a singer or even a judge, but Cheryl’s kindness and compassion can’t be faulted, she’s a nice woman. Poor Simon, we all like to call him ‘Mr Nasty’ but this audition proved he has a heart after all, he’s not as much of a cold and emotionless robot as you think.
