@RETRO PHIL You can thank our microwave culture for that. Hype and release. No room for polish. Publishers demand instant hits and moneymakers right out of the gate.
It amuses me to think that these guys have been playing average/poorly all week only to have the round of their lives on the final day to win the tournament 😆
I used to play this everytime my mom took me out to eat at Jerry's Pizza which was a small pizza place/bar, and they had this game as an arcade game, man this was a blast, proly spent dozens and dozens of dollars in quarters playing this back then. I almost forgot what golf game that was but when I heard the music about the hole info, I was like yepp this was it, definitely one of the best golf games out there in my opinion.
The graphics and sound are incredibly solid on this, and the gameplay is kept simple but with enough room for fucking up, too. You can play this for the first time, get a handful Birdies right away, and then have that bad streak come along. Whoever's playing here is making awesome shots.
I grew up in Vegas, and the arcade I went too (Mary K's, a 24/7 Japan style arcade hidden in a really bad area off the strip. It took up two office spaces and had blacked out windows. They some times have the doors opened in the morning to let the air in, as you also could smoke). There was a wall of SNK machines and for along time and I always see a older guy who was a craps dealer (They wear a tuxedo), bow tie undone, sitting on a stool with a cigarette hanging out of his mouth always playing this on Saturdays
“Terrible repetitive music” ??? I heavily disagree with you on that one the music in this game is really awesome, especially the Germany course. I can only imagine it being “repetitive” if you keep playing the same one course over and over again? (Gotta keep in mind this was also made as an arcade game where most people would only play for a short while) Still, nice long play showing off the game!
Large storage size compared to its contemporaries, this game must be above >200 Megabits iirc, allowing more frames of animation than comsumer home consoles
Damn. That's a fine looking game. I've wanted a system for so long but have no interest in $400 games. Why they decided on music at all is bizarre. Live and televised, the auditory takeaway from golf is quiet. "ON THE GREEN!!" Really?
“Music aside” ???? This music is GODLIKE
Music and that swing animation make this game worth the 15k that it's going for
Hiyamuta was a true master at his craft! He seems to have disappeared from OST composing strangely...
@@littleblueriolu9093nah he's composing for the upcoming Metal Slug-inspired game Black Finger Jet
What a great presentation.
Sometimes it seems developers nowadays totally forgot how to make games appealing.

Belo comentário!
@@EdmacZalso the internet has becoming fast enough to justify that since they thought they can release patches later

I did it!
The fact they managed to make a GOLF game this enjoyable is an achievement

this game + smell of pizza and french fries at the fast food restaurant was my childhood.
That "recovery" on hole 7 was godlike.

I have this on my Raspberry running NeoGeo on RetroPie, i love this game!! So many memories playing this with my kids...
I own this on mvs, favourite golf game by far, love it, such chill atmosphere.

It's the year 2023. I could still enjoy this old goodie today.
This is the Neo Geo game that I play most, by a mile.
On the GWEEEENNNN!!!!
Yes! On the gween!
Glad I wasn't queuing behind you in the arcade for this machine. 😉Awesome skills again.
Took longer than expected - I didn't realise there were four different courses XD
I am so glad that you finally scored that perfect round on the fourth course
As the official representative of gamers with taste, I am here to inform you all that OP has been permanently banned from reviewing video game music.
NEO-GEO had the best games outside Nintendo
Never seen this one before. Looks fun.
3:01 I thought she was saying "This is Nelson's Report".
Nelson: "So, uh, he's my report... ahem... HA HA!"
This looks and plays really well, have to check it out thanks.
that hole in one is a miracle
so he's in 17th position on the final day then gets like almost 17 birdies
Wow this guy is a good player
absolutely love this game
Incredible presentation.
The animation and music is so classy and slick 😎
I'm here from that Simpsons mash-up video. This is awesome.
Just these day in aes version on ebay ended for 28k pounds when for mvs you can buy for 50 pound and the pcb inside are the same.
How’d they make the swing the swing animations so dang smooth?

why is this game so well made? lol
The female announcer voice is cute :)

Clearly the Devs thought the only way to spice up golf for the arcade crowd was a lot of loud and super-excited voice-overs 😉
@@AL82RetrogamingLongplays oh. right. the arcade. that makes more sense. you have to be able to hear it over Operation Wolf.
I love that 'ON THE GWEEEN' it's full of character and makes the game appealing
@@tosspot1305 well...ok. i can accept that. golf simulator vs. really good looking golf game i guess.
How do you put it in console mode on an emulator without hitting the coin button to play?
There should be a BIOS option to change between MVS and AES

Complaining about the music is such a first world problem. Don't like it, go back in time and change it.
