The transmission will calculate the load and adjust the starting gear as it needs. Most people end up hating the max start gear being set to 1st as you won't be able to manually upshift when not moving.
Very nice ride. The last one I owned as an Owner Operator was a 9900I with a DD14 tuned to 550 HP. It had a 13 Double over and a full Eagle package and an Arctic Kit from the factory. The truck had a Canadian Spread air bag setup and it was the most comfortable IH I ever owned. What a sweet ride. I enjoy your videos here in Liverpool NY as I retired 6 years ago
The trucks used around here in forestry for hauling wood chips need the fuel fill at the front. This is because one of the paper mills unloads by tipping entire truck and trailer up on end. So all your fuel would run out the vent in the cap. :D
Hi Mike, just a thought re: your fuel filling points on the tanks. On the farm I worked at years ago, we had right-angled fillers on the nozzles worked really well for just that type of scenario. Keep up the good work! love and greetings to you all from here in Australia!
Congrats on your new ride Mike, love that big red engine !!! You mention the value of torque to pull the rig down the highway. Luckily, vehicles come with a torque multiplying device, the transmission. The torque that matters is the output shaft of the transmission, i.e. the drive shaft. (One could also pick the torque at the drive wheels if you want to include the final drive gearing in the conversation. This ratio is fixed). Diesel engines make their torque at a reasonably low rpm, which makes the power conveniently available without racing the engine. As long as the truck transmission has the right gears available, you can convert the engine’s power to torque at the driveshaft. Engine horsepower climbs hills, the torque that makes this happen is at the OUTPUT of the transmission.
Brother Mike I’m pretty sure if you simply switch the tanks from side to side you can get the cap at the back.🤔 God Bless you and your Family! I have my Grandson now he’s here! ❤️😏🖖🏼🇺🇸
I'm really happy for you Mike I would like you to explain to people how farmers can continue to buy expensive equipment but yet their crops weren't very good The year before
Navistar comes with several different tanks sure you could have gotten what you needed, but you can turn the tanks a little to help with filling the tanks
What if you would swap the left fuel tank with the right and right tank with the left, maybe the fuel caps will be at the position where it's more convenient
Regarding your fridge, that little compartment on top with the door is almost certainly a small freezer compartment. At least, it has been on every other mini fridge I've seen - your mileage may vary 😅
Great looking truck Mike. That is a small freezer. I know what you mean about the CB. The only time I used mine was for traffic updates, although I drove all around NYC.
It’s hard to pay all the tax when buying a new semi. Glad farm equipment isn’t taxable. It’s nuts that you buy brand new semis as a farmer. That’s one thing most skimp on.
Great awesome video mike, nice new international tractor , I would of bought one. Had internationals all my trucking life , I hate the way they put the fuel cap there. My lonestar had the best at the back and at the top Things have changed inside the truck big time since my lone star, very impressed,
Hey Mike, love your channel and content, I’m a truck driver myself, firstly, that’s a nice rig, I used to drive manuals when I first started driving 14years ago, over time most companies are moving to autos, they are better all round, and yes they do last longer, definitely put a CB radio in your truck if you are doing a fair bit of long haul driving, I understand where you are coming from with listening to tunes, I do that too (and podcasts) but, having a radio to communicate with other truck drivers is very important and could even save lives, you can warn other drivers of car accident, roadworks to avoid, also if something is lose on your load or something like that, others can warn you ect, lastly, in that fridge the top compartment should be a freezer yes, I have driven a truck with a similar fridge. Happy trucking mate, cheers from Australia 🇦🇺
I do believe that the highway engines you set the power by adjusting the throttle. on the off road you set the rpm and the engine adjust the fuel level based on the load to keep it at the same rpm, I think.
Nice looking truck. Like the old saying goes; Horse power is how fast you hit the wall, Torque is how far you take the wall with you. I'm a big fan of lots of torque. I don't have a CB in my transport because I got tired of all the BS, although, it would be nice in the winter to get road updates.
For a test take a bowl of water. Fill it a 3/4 full, now tilt the bowl till the water is about to run over the edge, now look at the center of the bowl, the level is much lower. That is why filler ports are not on the end of a fuel tank.
I’m kind of an ex/current truck driver,so I especially enjoyed this one. Nice truck. Badass rear hitch. I also like your wide base steer tires. Makes the whole front of the truck look beefier. Also,I wouldn’t have a CB in my truck to save my life. It’s just a conduit for garbage and useless, redundant information!
Couldn't agree with you more. I hate CB's with a passion. If I needed a radio system for team communication, it would be a different style of radio. Something high definition or whatever. Definitely not a cb.
K read a few other comments and the transmission details have been well gone over , over on this side of the world we have to pay quiet a bit extra for a manual gearbox in a truck and have done for years now I haven't bought a manual truck since about 2013 when I bought the first automatic I asked the dealer what was likely to go wrong and he asked me what causes most gearbox damage , of course I went through a number of general gearbox clutch issues that you would commonly have and after listening for a while he interrupted me and said nope most of your problems stem from the idiot sitting in the cab. In the intervening years I have often thought about this and he was totally right , we have very little trouble with transmissions since we got away from manual, any problems are generally electrical now.
You have to review it when you get some hours on it, looks like an awful nice truck, but online people don’t seem to like the international. Ran older international never had any issues. But I know a guy had a 579 he had nothing but problems. So I guess it’s just luck of the draw. Interested to see how it works out
Nice truck! I like the way these newer Internationals look. That little blue def cap is kinda ugly though. Lol. Your statement about the manual is sad but true. Would've been ten times cooler with a manual but I can understand why you didn't order one. Hopefully this will work well for you. Keep up the great work and God bless - Everett
That is a very nice truck . I guess an international is ok but if it stays dry you will only need a Hino. That is a big fuel tank . I would have to work 2 years to fill it.
I hate to hear people harp on the importance of torque vs HP. from a physics point of view HP is power literally electrical Watts. Or in theoretical terms the speed and size of a weight that can be lifted. Another way to put it is that a 800HP super car engine will out "lift" or preform your 600HP truck. The super car engine just needs to run at 6000 RPM and have a big gearbox. I apologize for the rant, I am a bit of a turbo nerd on this topic and I have to restrain myself. Thanks for the content!
HorsePOWER is what powers you down the road. You can have torque at zero rpm, think of trying to turn a bolt with a wrench but the bolt will not turn. You are applying torque with the wrench but getting nothing done. It is torque combined with rpm that makes horsePOWER and powers you down the road or across the field.
Mike I’m OCD also! I couldn’t live with the lights like that 🙄🙄🙄🙄! I would be definitely adding another one 😜😜😜😜! How does it ride? I know it’s fairly short wheelbase compared to what most run in the US, but that engine seems farther back than normal ??? Also I would be checking that front rear end, where you were showing the fluids on the rear fenders! It looks like the front rear axle might be leaking from the pinion 🙄🙄🙄🙄! I hope it is exactly what you ordered! I’ve been around semi trucks since I was a kid! I’ve seen huge oil leaks, water leaking into the cabs, wrong transmission 🙄🙄🙄🙄, wrong rear end gear ratio, both rear ends in one truck had no oil in them 🤬🤬🤬🤬, even the frame rails in the rear being off height wise almost 2 inches 🙄🙄🙄🙄🤬🤬🤬🤬! We only found that when we went to install the rear hitch! Similar to yours! Luckily it went back to the dealer, they loosened all the crossmember bolts & were able to align it correctly! Thank God, because he waited 6 months for that Kenworth & we thought that was along time 🙄🙄🙄🙄! It was a special order heavy haul truck! Doesn’t it break your heart ❤️ to run a brand new super expensive truck in the shit 🤬🤬🤬🤬! Even though that’s what there made for 😂😂😂😂! We would usually run our old trucks in the winter & keep the new hotness inside 😂😂😂😂, unless it was sold already 🙄🙄🙄🙄! But if it wasn’t necessary, we kept our old trucks until the new one proved herself 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻! Love the gigantic hood ❤️❤️❤️❤️! Automatic is absolutely the way to go when you have to put some FCKTARDS in your trucks 🙄🙄🙄🙄🤬🤬🤬🤬! For what they cost, it should come with it’s own detailer! How is it so filthy already 🙄🙄🙄🙄! Almost 1000 miles already? I really hope they didn’t use your truck to haul 3 others to the dealer 🤬🤬🤬🤬! There supposed to use dealer stock trucks for that BS, not a customer’s brand new super expensive truck 🙄🙄🙄🙄! It doesn’t really look like they detailed it at the dealer 🤬🤬🤬🤬! Which again for the cost, it should be perfect with very few miles, & full of fuel ⛽️ at least! I hate to keep adding to this book 📕, but you might want to see if it has a idle time shutdown 🙄🙄🙄🙄! Because most new trucks are timed to shut off in just a few minutes 🙄🙄🙄🙄! Also only dealer adjusted! Really sucks when your working! Very very nice truck! I wish you the best 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻!
The front axle, wheel and tire setup is more typically seen on heavy haul rigs that need to carry a lot of weight on the front axle. Is it necessary for pulling double trailers?
Not really necessary no, I’m assuming he went with the beefier axle and bigger tires mainly to help with handling on rough roads and even to help with compaction in fields.
Why did you go with international? Nice choice, just curious. I actually only work with international trucks. No semis but practically every model midsize dump since 08
Hi Mike, what's a trailer spike? Is it a trailer brake? The only truck I can think of off the top of my head is a Scania, it had a separate trailer brake lever right next to the park brake lever, you only get the two mixed up once, please don't ask me how I know!😁
Yeah, many moons ago I used to drive a 1986 Scania 112H 6x2 320 bhp pulling tilts out of various docks around the UK (mainly Felixstowe). You could lock all 6 super singles with that trailer brake, especially if empty, fun times. 😄
hey mike we have the eagles here in australia and there a solid truck, cant go wrong , although of operaters put the 18 speed eaton in just to cut down rebuild costs on the auto .... are you sticking with the fendt 1050 for planting or are you looking at american horse power ...
The transmission will calculate the load and adjust the starting gear as it needs. Most people end up hating the max start gear being set to 1st as you won't be able to manually upshift when not moving.

Thanks for explaining everything on your new truck. Never had opportunity to look at one before.
Nice rig Mike and thanks for the video.
I wish you many safe, enjoyable and trouble free times with it.

The bank buys them
Subsidies

New toys are always fun.
Jisss i like this International, s instrument panel and controls
Beautiful truck mike, she will pull goog good, thanks for sharing
Congratulations Mike. New equipment is always exciting.
Traction control works great when your in slushy snow going down the highway
Regarding your fridge, that little compartment on top with the door is almost certainly a small freezer compartment. At least, it has been on every other mini fridge I've seen - your mileage may vary 😅
That's good to know!
Nice! Enjoy the new wheels. Thanks for the video
Nice one Mike...going to enjoy the vids of you keeping it clean LOL...& best wishes to you & your great family!
Ahh the good ol Pilgrim Truck Stop in the Megatropolis of Caronport.
You definitely like the colour white ! NICE UNIT
Great looking truck Mike. That is a small freezer. I know what you mean about the CB. The only time I used mine was for traffic updates, although I drove all around NYC.
I like your new Truck
With my ocd if I move the steering wheel or mirrors it is a good month before I stop messing with them.
Nice looking truck and practical too!
My lonestar had the best at the back and at the top
Things have changed inside the truck big time since my lone star, very impressed,
Mike , I was looking forward to seeing you use that hitch 😊
Very nice truck though.

Autos are hell on earth on fields
Congratulation on the new truck. Looks nice.

A CB does have an off switch and a volume knob.
@@wssides good point
@@wssides yep, and mine is permanently off!
Looks sweet! Congrats - new toys are always fun :)
Nice truck Mike! Good luck with it!
To buy a truck specd out as you want. I like the Int. trucks. Just can't pay for the Peterbuilt name. Nice, enjoy!
All good information, but all that really matters is how good the horn blows.
Right! Haha next time
Nice truck! Congratulations!
Nice looking semi Mike
Thanks Mike!

Huh?
What I thought Mike meant is he wished the cap was on the back 1/3 of the tank instead of the front.
Nice nice truck buddy 👍
Hey Mike could you rotate the tank a little to make filling up easier?
🔥right on mike, that’s a beautiful truck. Pretty cool with all the options on it 🔥👊🔥🏍🛻🚜🔨
Awesome truck Mike Woo-hoo keep on trucking and you have a fridge 👍 Woo-hoo
Did you know it was going to take that long to get it. Nice addition to the farm.
Yeah it is a hx 520 your right
good job mike
She's a beaut Clark.
What a nice truck.I would love to drive it for you.I am a experience driver old school and new.And I have years of experience
Hello Mike nice truck🚚😉🇮🇹
If you were really motivated to do it looks like you could swamp the fuel tanks to the opposite sides and it would put the cap where you want it 🤔
I’m kind of an ex/current truck driver,so I especially enjoyed this one. Nice truck. Badass rear hitch. I also like your wide base steer tires. Makes the whole front of the truck look beefier. Big boy toys ❤️ nice truck
Mike has another truck up his sleeve !
Good morning Mike have a great day

yeah. automatics are the best. and you can get better mileage than a std with the right setup
You have to review it when you get some hours on it, looks like an awful nice truck, but online people don’t seem to like the international. Ran older international never had any issues. Awesome truck, congratulations
really great video liked seeing all the features just wanted to know the price in that thing just in case
good luck you going to need it with that truck
16k front axle seems like a logger spec. But nice truck for a binder 😀
Lol I noticed already before Mike pointed out that there aren't stick shift just because only 2 pedals!
Nice truck 👍
That is a very nice truck . I guess an international is ok but if it stays dry you will only need a Hino. That is a big fuel tank . I would have to work 2 years to fill it.
Morning
CB is great for a wreck ahead .
Mike this series Cummins engine is the X15. The ISX was discontinued about 5 years ago.
Right!.. I think someone told me that before 😆

LOL nice truck you got there Mike you sure going to need it for your farm now you need a Low Boy trailer for equipment moves hahaha just saying
Auto is great I have gear jammed for over 60 years why when every other piece of equip has auto shift the truck should also

Being the auto gearbox, "3rd" is really only the equivalent to 1st direct (1st low) in a manual box. So not really that high.
You could add an extension pipe with a 45 angel on the fuel tank?
I live in Caronport! I musta just missed you on my way to work. Woulda loved to stop and say hello
Would have been fun! 🙂
Do a pin on light bar that pins into the hitch you have
Not really sure how I feel about the shifter being in the place where the spike used to be. Could see that being a problem in an emergency.
It definitely will take some getting used to 😬😆
Nice ride buddy 👍😎
Great video Mike
Mike what dealer did you purchase that truck through? They couldn't even be bothered to clean the writing and stickers off of your windows?
Mike I’m OCD also! I couldn’t live with the lights like that 🙄🙄🙄🙄! I would be definitely adding another one 😜😜😜😜! How does it ride? That larger handle on the side of the seat, will set the height it pushes you up to.
Be careful with raising the hood by the mud guard because they break easy.

Addition to previous question as a drill mover for use in "future years" . Have to learn to ask questions AFTER watching the video sorry Mike
Why did you go with international? Nice choice, just curious. I actually only work with international trucks. No semis but practically every model midsize dump since 08
People I’ve talked to in more remote areas like the large number of International dealers. Local support in more localities.
Yes that is a freezer

Hi Mike...beauty truck. Does it have a back up camera and where was it assembled?
We gonna get a video on that harrow?
Prb 🙂
Does it have a laminated windscreen though...
😆
Torque - how much work you can do. Horsepower- how fast you do that work.
Hey Mike, when will seed drilling start? It’s my favourite time of the year seeing these massive seed drills :D
When you get older like me you'll love the seat going down.
