Peterbilt 320 - Heil STARR System Garbage Truck

Here are three different Heil STARR System garbage trucks, all on Peterbilt 320 tractors, handling some residential collection. Two of them can be seen here handling single-stream recycling, while the other handles some garbage. The Heil STARR System utilizes a Rapid Rail automated arm mounted to a truck tractor, while the body is a semi-trailer, based after the Rapid Rail body. The Heil STARR System is the only semi-trailer automated side loader on the market, making these trucks very unique! The extra pivot point created by the trailer makes these trucks extremely maneuverable, as is demonstrated several times throughout this video. Watch as it handles cul-de-sacs without ever backing up, and even completes U-Turns on narrow residential streets! The Heil STARR System is a fun truck to watch and I hope you guys all enjoy this footage!

I used to see none of these trucks on RUclips and all of a sudden you guys have started posting heaps of them! Awesome seeing a trailer version of an ASL, always fun to watch these in action. Nice looking trucks too, maybe not all bright with rainbow colours, but these blend in nicely with the neighbourhood. I was captured by the engine at the beginning of the second clip, sounds bloody damn great. I noticed the garbage truck sounded similar, but it didn't seem to have that classic smoother flowing sound compared to the recyclers - I noticed the garbage truck was newer though.

+MitchellM15 Definitely not common trucks, that's for sure, but it seems several of us have stumbled upon areas where they seem to be a popular choice over the past couple years or so. Really, I'm surprised they haven't caught on more, the maneuverability is just phenomenal! I really like their paint scheme as well, as you said, it may not "pop out", but it really does look quite pleasant rolling down the road. Their newest trucks have solid brown cabs now, which really look top-notch in my opinion, though I wasn't lucky enough to catch one on film on this trip. The garbage truck was several years newer than the pair on recycling, but I was still impressed with how good it sounded for a newer truck. In fact, I was really quite stoked that all three of these trucks revved during the arm cycle, I don't think I've seen any other videos of a STARR being revved. Certainly added to the fun!

The blue carts are for single stream recycling. The gray ones are for garbage. Truck NO. 2 was picking residential recycling. While truck NO. 1 was picking up apartment recycling. Truck NO. 43 was picking up residential garbage.
